Dovenby cottage was featured on BBC1's escape to the country on May 17th, 2021. Sympathetically converted from an old stable block, Dovenby Cottage has been transformed into a romantic, cosy, rural retreat of the highest standard. With owners next door you have access to a wealth of local information should you need it, but will have privacy to hunker down in this charming period property, complete with open fire. Short & longer breaks are available, all starting and ending on either a Friday or Monday.

It was a joy to stay at Dovenby Cottage! We were welcomed with a bottle of wine, a delicious home made cake and eggs and milk. The amenities in the cottage are superb, the huge bed gloriously comfortable and everything was provided for a relaxing and restful stay. The location is perfect for sightseeing in the South Cotswolds and we were blessed with warm, sunny weather which added to our enjoyment. Definitely a place to come back to, so thank you Justin and Philippa for your help in making our week’s stay such a pleasure

Location is good for Bath, Bristol, Chippenham and getting back to LHR! Excellent accommodation and Justin is very flexible and worked with us for parking when we had our local family come visit. Will be coming back later in the year and stay for a few days. The cottage remodel is so well done and top grade! Loved It!

This lovely cottage was immaculately clean and well presented. There were some little touches added to make it feel Christmassy as it was in between Christmas and new year. This made it feel even more homely. We visited some nearby picturesque villages and the local pub. The whole stay was top notch and would definitely recommend.

So Storm Bert gave its worst but didnt ruin our stay. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, everything else was as described and we had a lovely time. Communication with hosts was perfect and the welcome gift of cake, wine, eggs and milk were a godsend.

I booked this as a surprise for my girlfriend. I picked this cottage as it was out of the way and quiet, but not too far from places to visit. When we arrived it was exactly as i had hoped, the cottage was spotless and perfect for both of us. It would seem I made a good choice as my girlfriend wants to go back again next summer, as do I.While we didn't get to meet Justin, he was just on the end of a text if we did need anything, but Both Justin and Phillipa had thought of everything, from a pint of milk, eggs and a lovely cake. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get away from it all and relax for a few days.

Initial impressions excellent. We stayed for 7 days in September 2024 Probably the most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in. Fully equipped kitchen and large bathroom The location is great for cycling, National Trust properties nearby Chippenham 15 mins by car Towns visited Tetbury, Malmesbury, Devizes, Bradford on Avon, Salisbury, Didcott Steam Centre, Lacock Abbey ( NT) Overall rating 10/10

This beautiful cottage is immaculately presented with quality fittings and excellent taste. The photos do not show just how big it really is. Fantastic bathroom and lovely modern kitchen. The hosts have thought of absolutely everything, there's even bathrobes, a torch if you need to get up in the night, plastic food boxes for picnics, garlic press, egg whisk and rubber gloves. The welcome goodies of wine, freshly baked cake and eggs were especially appreciated. The sunny patio with its beautiful trellised plant trough was a delight to sit in when we returned from our excursions each day. There's a parasol if the sun gets too hot. The bed is huge and very comfortable and has plenty of electric sockets for hairdryer, fan etc. We loved the cosy cottagey feel to the lounge area and wood is provided if you want to have a fire in cooler weather. Lots of dvds, cds,books,information leaflets and playing cards to keep you entertained. The information book provided has everything you need to know about the cottage and the area. We found it very useful.We cannot fault a thing. We have already booked for next year. Thank you.

Justin and Phillipa were excellent hosts and communicators. My partner and I were both incredibly busy right up until the day of our visit, so it was wonderful to receive a very detailed email of the location check-in process and local sights from them the evening before our visit. The cottage was just delightful and decorated and provisioned to the highest of standards and tastes. We completely relaxed as soon as we placed our bags down. The cottage was extremely peaceful and relaxing but with lots to see and do at a short drive away. Highly recommended for a short or long break.

Stayed for 2 weeks and couldn't be happier with the accommodations! Justin and Philippa's provided everything we needed for an extended stay (plus a few unexpected extras like a delicious lemon cake). The cottage is very roomy with large bathroom & entry way separating the bedroom and kitchen/living area. The wood fireplace also provided a cozy touch for the colder nights. Dovenby cottage was the highlight of our trip around England. Justin was so warm, welcoming and helpful to us and the cottage really felt like a safe place for us to land. We immediately felt at home -- there was even tea, wine, milk, and cake waiting for us. I can't say enough good things. Thank you! And we will most definitely be back next time we are in the UK.

Had a relaxing week at this lovely restored luxury cottage. Well equipped and clean and just perfect for a couple. Justin was very professional throughout the booking process and gave us plenty of info regarding our stay and places to visit. And thank you for the wine and cake enjoyed! Ideal base to visit the nearby lovely villages and so peaceful. Even though the owners live next door, they totally respect your privacy. Enjoyed our time here.

I can’t recommend this property highly enough! It has been beautifully furnished and equipped and has amazing views from the outside space and feels nice and private, though we did meet the friendly hosts too which was great. We stayed with our 3 month old and the layout worked really well. The bathroom is particularly luxurious! The hosts had included some great welcoming touches like wine in the fridge and a homemade lemon drizzle cake which was delicious. The information booklet was very useful and comprehensive. We would highly recommend and would love to stay again - a wonderful getaway.
