We stayed at Butterfly Cottage with friends for a long weekend. The location is excellent as very near amenities (Kendal is about a 10 mins drive away) and the estate is very well maintained. We were lucky with the weather and could enjoy the BBQ at the common seating area by the river.Cottage itself was very clean and comfortable . The private hot tub was a highlight! Daryl and Kerith were very friendly, welcoming and helpful hosts. We’d be very happy to stay here again.

We had an amazing stay in the cottage with our children. The facilities and surroundings were beyond our expectations. The cottage was very spacious and had all we needed with great views in every direction. The hot tub was great way to wind down and relax in the evenings. Both Daryl and Kerith were very welcoming and always tips and ideas on where to visit. We had some lovely conversations with them and its clear to see how much time and effort they have invested in this lovely estate. The location is also close to all the main attractions and only a short drive to the Kendal and Windemere. There are many nearby trails which are worth exploring. Ambleside is definitely worth a visit. We hope to come back and we wish both Daryl and Kerith the very best.

We stayed here for 4 nights with our three kids. Stunning location with garden and woods for the kids. Near Kendal for shops and restaurants and 20 minutes to Lake Windermere. Hosts made to stay very comfortable. Great walks also surround the country location. Stunning.

Our first visit to the Lake District and it didn't disappoint! Butterfly Cottage was everything we hoped for: beautifully situated in a secluded setting, easy to find, spotlessly clean, very comfortable in all rooms, plenty of space for 5 of us to spread out, private use of a hot tub (another first for us), and very well equipped facilities. Hosts had the perfect balance of being helpful whilst giving is our space. Highly recommend this place. Lots of beautiful walks right from the doorstep too, whilst only being a short drive to the motorway to the East and Windermere less than half hr to the west. Thanks for a wonderful stay with near perfect weather which was the icing on the cake!

The cottage was beautiful, situated in stunning woodland scenery. Immaculately clean, with cooking facilities and fresh hot tub water daily. The owners Daryl and Kerris are just lovely, both very helpful and accomidating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the butterfly lodge , and highly recommend it. 5 stars all round

We stayed for 3 nights at the end of September and loved every minute. The cottage was fabulous, spotlessly clean with everything we needed. The hot tub was great and we used it often we even managed a bbq despite the weather. Great place to stay only 10-15 minutes to supermarkets & Kendal by car. The Wi-Fi was a bit hit and miss but it we didn’t miss it and the phone signal for O2 wasn’t great but we got a signal & 4G if you sat on the stairs We will return. Thanks to Daryl & Kerith for being marvellous hosts. Loved the place ❤️

We had an amazing time at butterfly cottage , extremely clean , absolutely everything you need and good quality items too ! Even hair dryers and hot water bottles ! Hot tub was lovely and clean too and the hosts were extremely friendly and always willing to assist at any time ! Thanks for a wonderful stay we will definitely be back in the future ! Ps don’t try and order a takeaway no one wil bring one ha ha !! So definitely in the sticks ! My husband and daughter enjoyed their bike rides and walks in the country side too !

We visited with family (including a 3 year old). We were very comfortable in this cottage. The kitchen is well equipped. The beds were comfy. The hot tub was very clean and we enjoyed using it despite the cold weather. The home owner Daryl was very helpful and friendly. It is nicely situated half an hour from Bowness-on-Windermere and half an hour from Penrith. Would love to return in the summer.

The cottage was perfect, very clean and modern, well equiped and the gardens were great for my grandchildren to play on. Nothing was too much trouble for Daryl. We would definitely go back but next time we would like to stay in the 4 bedroom cottage with a hot tub adjacent to Butterfly Cottage. The scenery was stunning the only thing I can grumble about was the weather it must have been the worst week all summer but this has not put us off in coming back. Thank You

We spent New Years Eve in Butterfly cottage and it was a wonderful stay. Cottage was also decorated with Christmas tree which was lovely. Beautiful, bright and modern feel to the cottage. The kitchen and dining area are a great space wth cosy log burner. The bedrooms are spacious with unbelievably comfy beds. Bathrooms are modern with very nice shower to ensuite. A real rural retreat, great for getting away from it all. With Kendal centre and Windermere on the doorstop there’s plenty to do when you want to go out and about. We will definitely be returning.

We arrived at Butterfly cottage on boxing day 2017. The cottage was beautifully presented with a Christmas tree and even presents under the tree for our children. We had a perfect few days opening presents in front of the log burner. The cottage is set in beautiful grounds and we enjoyed skimming stones down the river and took a lovely walk up the hill to see gorgeous views across the valley. The cottage is equipped with everything we needed and the children said that it felt like home. We look forward to returning later in the year.

We had a wonderful stay at Butterfly cottage to celebrate my 40th birthday. There are walks directly from the cottage and its a short drive to many more. The best things about the cottage itself are the wood-burning stove in the evening, the open-plan communal living space, and the modern amenities - everything works, which is not always the case in some rental cottages. I would definitely recommend this one.

We recently spent a weekend at Butterfly Cottage. Our party consisted of grandparents, parents and 2 young grandchildren. All 6 of us loved the cottage as it had everything one would need for an enjoyable stay. It was lovely and warm on arrival with the added option of lighting the log burning fire. Lots of logs and firelighters were provided. The cottage was spotlessly clean. It was nicely decorated and furnished to a high standard throughout and was exceptionally comfortable and spacious. The kitchen was particularly well-equipped with quality crockery, cutlery, glassware, pans etc. Our visit was in winter but at other times of the year there is a lovely barbecue area in the garden. We loved the snowdrops lining the driveway and watching the birds feeding. Another plus is its location as there are so many attractions and nice places to visit nearby. The owner of the cottage was extremely helpful and friendly both throughout the booking process and during our visit. We wold have no hesitation in returning or recommending it to others. Had a wonderful time the cottage was spotless, very inviting and cosy. Owners were very pleasant and made things very quick and easy. Located conveniently from both Kendal and not far from Ambleside. Only downside is not many places/ restaurants/ pubs to walk to, must drive/ taxi everywhere. Other than that thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it for a couples stay.

The cottage is very well looked after and comes with everything you would need for both a short or long stay. It is in a very quiet area so perfect for a relaxing weekend away. The owners are very welcoming and extremely polite, and the book of local takeaways, restaurants and things to do was extremely helpful as it was our first time in the area. A friendly welcome to Lily Cottage. it was comfortable and roomy , well appointed, flowers in every room. The gardens were beautiful to look at and wander around. It was well placed to access the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales. A quiet haven to return to in the evenings.
