One on Bollard, hosted by the wonderful husband-and-wife duo Diane and Rob, was easily one of the coziest and most memorable stays we had in South Africa. From the moment we arrived, their genuine passion for hosting was evident, the warmth, care, and thought they put into making guests feel welcome is truly exceptional.
Everything felt personal and heartfelt, from Rob’s exciting and thoughtfully prepared food menu to the handwritten welcome and departure letters. It genuinely felt less like a guesthouse and more like being welcomed into someone’s home. They guide you patiently through everything, activities, routes, recommendations, making your stay completely stress-free.
The location itself feels straight out of a movie. Set on a beautiful island surrounded by lagoons and beaches, the area is incredibly scenic, polished, and serene. The island is home to elegant, well-maintained houses that give it a luxurious feel, yet it remains peaceful and refreshingly less touristy. The beach days we spent here were some of the best of our entire trip.
Knysna as a base is also perfectly located, well connected to incredible adventure and nature spots like Tsitsikamma National Park and Plettenberg Bay so 2 nights are not enough here.
