St. Agatha's Bastion

The villa at St Agatha's Bastion is in a unique and remarkable location with breathtaking views in the beautiful mediaeval city of Mdina in Malta. Inside, the villa is itself architecturally stunning as well as being comfortable and very well equipped with kitchen equipment, wifi and international TV channels. We particularly liked the fantastic outdoor pool and terrace area. Overall this was a perfect and tranquil place for a family 'workation' for the 4 of us (all adults), followed by a wonderful vacation on a beautiful island. Certainly the perfect antidote to lockdown blues. The owner, Peter and the house manager Jo were both very helpful and we will definitely be back!

The beauty of the villa with its bourgonvillea in flower (apparently featured on instagram) attracts a constant stream of international tourists taking photos of the front door, meaning you had to run the gauntlet to get access to the villa at times! Mdina is mainly pedestrianised and this means that taxis are unable or unwilling to drop you or pick you up from inside the city gates, even if you have a lot of luggage when you arrive and depart.

The house is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. A real privilege to stay here! Lots of space to chill out and great facilities. Awesome sound system throughout the property! The view from the terrace & pool area is spectacular and one of the best spots in Mdina to watch the sun set... it’s only a 2 min walk to see the sunrise too! Fabulous restaurant (with many vegan options) right next door.

The photos of the property do not do it justice... not really a complaint as it was a great surprise when we arrived. One small niggle - the pool had not been cleared of leaves before we arrived... but we had fun cleaning it out ourselves on the first morning! We would love to come back...!
