Casa rural La Jarita

This is the perfect place to unwind, relax and watch thpusands of stars in the evening but still it is close to everything. Ruben and his mother were extremely good and attentive hosts. Communication was fast, on the first day Ruben gave us a lot of information about the island, he sent info about festivals and we got a lot of wonderful fresh fruit. Thank you so much. The cottage is spacious and with period features yet well-equipped. The beds are comfortable and we were provided with extra ventilators when it got hot. The shower works perfectly and the kitchen is well equipped. The 150 goat-path from the parking is a bit steep but easily do-able even with luggage. You find everything you need in the village (great pizzeria: Las Vetas, free library, supermarket, winery, ecological butcher etc.) and the central location makes it perfect to explore the island. We can really recommend this place if you want to have a true and tranquil El Hierro experience in a traditional house.

This is not a non-like just an alert for others: yes, you have to walk 150 meters from parking. It is an old house within nature so you might have friendly animal visits (lizzards, cats, spiders, beetles, no mosquitos though) and there is a bit of a smell when it is hot. But this is part of the authentic experience, just be aware of it. If you like that, this is the perfect place.

El acceso no es fácil. Se podría hacer tipo escalera con “pasamanos” para facilitarlo, e iluminarlo con luces solares, por ejemplo…
