We stayed as we had a family wedding in the area. The house is well fitted out. Beds are comfy, sofa’s too. We had a very relaxing time, so much we are thinking of returning even without a wedding to go to.

What a lovely place to stay just outside York! The house and gardens are beautiful. A very spacious property with lots of seating in lounge, dining area and garden. The garden is enclosed, peaceful and very well kept. The house is in a lovely village but very easy to get into York. We recommend the park and ride but also the Crooked Billet pub in a nearby village for a circular walk and fantastic pub meal! Elaine was brilliant at answering my abundance of questions and it was lovely to meet in person. Thank you so much for letting us enjoy your beautiful house.

We absolutely loved the house. It was perfect for what we wanted. Garden was amazing and allowed the kids to have some great games. Rooms were great and house home equipment was perfect. Great location to travel into York on the park and ride and other areas around. Would recommend for all family and friend get-togethers!

The property was as described in the listing. It’s in a great location, close to Askham Bar park and ride which you can use to get to York and a bus runs (infrequent) from the road outside into York. The cottage is old but well set up for a large group with everything you might need in the kitchen during your stay. We were 6 adults, 5 children and a dog, it has a lovely garden which isn’t overlooked by any other properties and the children spent most of their time out there. The owner Elaine was extremely helpful, especially on the day of arrival when I suffered an organisational mishap! We would definitely stay here again.

We were 3 generations. 2 couples plus 2 other adults, 4 lively children under 10 and 1dog. The bedrooms worked well for us. There was plenty of space both indoors and out and we had great games of hide and seek. Lots to see and do in York and we also had a day in Whitby. Both enjoyed by all.

The photos for this property don’t do it justice; it looked lovely online but was so much nicer when we arrived. 10 adults stayed for the weekend and it was spacious with plenty of seating for us all to be together. The cottage was clean and had lovely bedding and plenty of towels. It’s well located a short taxi ride into York for our night out, and in a beautiful village with lovely countryside on the doorstep. We loved our stay here laughing and chatting with friends.

Lovely spacious well equipped house with plenty of room for our family of 13 plus 2 dogs. All had a great time and kids and dogs especially enjoyed the large garden for playing in. We could all sit comfortably together in any of the rooms and there was enough space to relax when quiet time was needed. The big BBQ was a bonus as we were lucky enough to enjoy a warm day while we were there. Only 2 bathrooms so we needed to be organised with showers. Our tips - bring plenty of food or be prepared to drive 10 minutes to Tesco to stock up- no village shop or take away delivery service. Towels are provided but if you want large bath towels bring your own. Great value for money for the size and quality of property and very good communication with owner prior to the trip- she answered our numerous questions quickly and in a friendly manner. Thanks Elaine for a lovely stay.

We have just spent the weekend celebrating a special birthday with family. We couldn't fault anything from start to finish. An amazing cottage in a lovely little village. The wood burning fire and underfloor heating was a added bonus. We would definitely recommend and look to book again in the future. Maybe a summer visit to make the most of the outside space.

I booked this property for a long overdue Cousins get together. There were 11 of us and we had a great time. The house was very well equipped, spacious and cosy. We used the Park and Ride which was only a short distance away. It wasn't the weather for using the garden but it was a great space and very well equipped for outdoor dining. Our only observation, being 11 females, was that another loo would be handy but it didn't prove too much of a problem.

We stayed at Elaine’s property for my friends hen party and it exceeded all expectations! The property is beautiful, so clean and well presented. Our check in and parking instructions were super clear and the location is gorgeous and a short taxi/car journey into the centre of York. Even the garden was immaculate, we just wish it was warm enough to sit out there! Elaine was so accommodating, so lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful when we had a bit of car trouble! Can’t recommend this property enough, desperately trying to find a reason to return 😊

We are an extended family with a group of us living near Wetherby and 3 families from Essex. The Garden Cottage was brilliant for our stay , easy access , the property was as described and perfect for our get-together. We took our own bath towels which I’d advise and extra loo rolls and kitchen towel. It’s a place that we cooked on one day and really needed a couple of items like salt and pepper, a scouring pad for washing up baking trays, some tin foil to line the trays , cling film and a full description of the coffee machine as it was a Tassimo and we bought a Nespresso as that was what we thought was described. But this is just feedback for the owner to improve as it was a great stay , lovely property and gardens and we would recommend. Plenty of space for everyone. Many thanks

The property is excellent for a multi family group, with the layout of the bedrooms. The 2 bathrooms mean no one is waiting around. Convenient for trips into York and its surroundings. Hosts were excellent, there when needed and always informative.

The property was very clean and well presented. Communications and booking were clear, accurate and helpful. York is only 15-20mins by car. If there was a downside, it would be around bedrooms, a thin partition separated two, providing privacy but little in noise control. One was curtained off only. Some beds were comfortable, others not. We would probably stay again if we decided to return to York on masse.

We booked Garden Cottage for a family get together, a group of 12 people aged between nearly 2 and 85!! There was plenty of space for all of us, we enjoyed meals together at the large kitchen table and we're comfortable all sitting in the lounge in the evenings. The garden is absolutely glorious, ideal for out labradoodle as well as a very active toddler! Fabulous property, would thoroughly recommend it.

We had 11 people staying at the cottage for my mams 70th birthday. The cottage is ideally located for day trips in and around York and was large enough to easily cater for the 11 guests. The property manager was very helpful and quick to respond to any of our queries. Overall a fabulous cottage and we would definitely book again.

Lovely big cottage accommodating for a big family staycation. Not modern (which would spoil it) but clean and full of character. Plenty of kitchen equipment, towels (though lots of us took our own) and toilet rolls etc. Conservatory was big and so nice to sit in but the Garden... Wow! It's beautiful and huge. We had so much fun playing outdoor games and watching the meteor shower. People might complain about small stuff ie no bathroom upstairs but there is one in that side of the cottage but all in all its a great place to have a family get together. The only thing is that it's a bit in the middle of nowhere which we expected but there were no pubs open or shops in the village itself but all a short drive away. Would recommend finding the ship inn which is one of the nearest pubs. Food was lovely and its in a lovely setting also dogs are allowed inside. Thanks for a lovely stay
