The scenery is breathtaking. We stayed at Heaven's Gate 2 nights which was a great experience. Food was yummy at Eagles Nest. Staff friendly & helpful.

Some overdue repairs to the restaurant deck and the bathroom door in our room would help improve the function & comfort of the property.

I loved everything

The lodge is located at an amazing place, has lovely personnel and a nice garden. There are 2 pools that you can relax and enjoy the spectacular view. The dinner was very tasty and well prepared. We generally likes it a lot being outside our room and near the bar/pool area.

The room we stayed has seen better days, with some of the equipment being very old. The bedside lamps were very dirty and so were most of the fabrics in the room (curtains, sofa covers etc). The bed sheets and towels seemed clean, we didn't have a problem with those ones. There was no fridge in the room and the water/drinks at the bar were not very cold (yes there was ice available but I just wanted a cold water without ice). Moreover, there were thousand of insects invading our room, including some very big spiders and some short of wasps. I fully understand we were in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nature and it is only natural to have insects entering the room. But the problem is that there are gaps in the roof an the bathroom window, which make it too easy for any living creatures to enter the room. Finally, it wasn't clear in the room description that you can use the A/C just a few hours during your stay because there is not enough power during most of the day. I completely support the sustainability aspect of this ( the hotel is mostly solar powered), but these things must be very clear during the booking process. When you combine the lack of A/C with the fact that we couldn't get cold water, didn't have a fridge and couldn't open the windows to get some fresh air (since we would get even more insects in the room), you get a quite unpleasant experience. Specially not what you would expect for the price we paid.
