About this farm stay rental

A beautifully restored farmhouse ('cascina') in the middle of Monferrato wine district, the house is conveniently located in the middle of North West Italy: Milan (the most lively and modern Italian city, with extraordinary monuments and unsurpassed shopping opportunities), Genoa (with its Riviera, Portofino, Cinque Terre, the popular Aquarium), Turin and the nearby Alps are easily reached by highways or railway in one two hours. Our 'cascina' is a typical 18th century Piedmont farmhouse, surrounded by a wineyard (Dolcetto, Cortese, Barbera). The house has been recently restored and is fully furnished with all modern comforts. Its location makes it an ideal starting point for trekking, cycling, horse riding, visiting historical castles, manors wine cellars ('cantine') and renowned restaurants. The Gavi area can be reached in 20 minutes by car, as well as the Serravalle Outlet where you can find at very convenient prices the best in Italian fashion (Prada, Dolce e Gabbana, Armani, etc.)

Starting from may 2012 a beautifully built swimming pool, hydromassage area included, is available to our guests. This pool is shared with the rest of the family.

Isa and Michele are lovely hosts. Their vineyard is a magical place with lovely views across the valley and the mountains. The apartment is well equipped and very comfortable for 2 couples but can accommodate up to 6 people. The place is child and pet friendly. The swimming pool is very nice. The restaurant is open at the weekend and the food is delicious. There are some nice villages nearby and countryside walks. A proper Italian countryside holiday experience. We would highly recommend Ca Mimia and we will definitely go back.

Very nice situated appartment with an astonishing view to the Piemontese Apennines. Not too touristic region, good local restaurants in the adjacent villages. Good for families with children. Our children had the times of their lives in the big garden en nice swimming pool. When going to Italy, we certainly come back!

Lovely place to stay. Very nice owners, who speak english, and did everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The house is decorated in a romantic style. Nice and cool swimming pool. Piemonte is quite, and not that touristic yet. We would love to come back.

The photos don’t do this wonderful place justice. It’s peaceful and beautiful, somewhere you can truly relax. We spent a wonderful week here, we only regret it wasn’t longer. Our 8 and 6 year old loved the pool, as did we! Many hours were spent floating around enjoying the view or just sitting watching the birds circling above. If you’re thinking of booking, get on and do it! We’re sure you won’t regret it.

Our family had a wonderful 2 week stay at Isabella and Micheles farmhouse. The apartment was wonderful, very stylish and comfortable and the pool was fantastic with wonderful views. The restaurant was outstanding with a wonderful setting and superb food and home grown wine. Isabella and Miguel were wonderful hosts, very welcoming and generous. We loved our holiday with them and cannot recommend their farmhouse more highly!!

We had a lovely holiday. The appartment matches perfectly the description. The area is nice and peaceful but yet close to villages and cities. Isabella & Michele are very friendly hosts. On friday & saturday evening you can enjoy their wine over a lovely dinner at the house-restaurant.

We had a quiet and relaxing week at Ca Mimia in july 2016. Isabella and Michele are genuinely hospitable people. The garden is beautiful and the surroundings as well. The pool is the nicest pool we have ever had in Italy, always fresh and clean. The apartment is just as wonderful as the rest, big bedrooms and two great bathrooms. We really liked the wooden floor, much more pleasant than the usual hard tiles. The quiet evenings on the terrace with a glass of Misling were total relaxation. The kitchen is maybe a bit small for those who want to self-cater, but it's sufficient enough, and there is a nice bbq by the pool, and a pizza oven downstairs. Isabella supplied us with wonderful fresh vegetables from the garden. Isabella and Michele make their own wine. I preferred the Trittico and the Misling. The first one is a red wine, fruity, nice body and complexity and well balanced. Worked really well with steak from the bbq. The Misling is made from the Riesling grape. A very nice white wine! Different from more famous rieslings, due to different climate and terroir. Fresh and well structured, but less minerality. Try it with different italian salsiccias! They also make a nice smooth barbera and a dolcetto with lots of flavours. A final recommendation: ask Isabella if she has a glass of her home made sweet cherry jam, and spread it on your breakfast toast, it's divine! If you want a nice quiet vacation in the Piemontese countryside, but still relatively close to shopping, cities and the riviera, this place is highly recommended.

Everything was clean and well maintained and I would certainly recommend this property to friends and family. My husband, teenage daughter and I had a blissfully relaxing time here. We went on a couple of trips and the house is well located for those who want to do a bit more than we did. Isabella and her husband were friendly and welcoming. It was slightly difficult to find - top tip - the asphalt road is more than 200m from the junction - more like 1 km. That was our only problem!

This property is in the most magical place, overlooking hills, a castle and vineyards. We dined at Isabella's restaurant which is open on Friday and Saturday nights and serves delicious local food and their own wine. The pool was beautiful and certainly had the best view from a swimming pool I have ever seen! Everything was clean and well maintained and I would certainly recommend this property to friends and family. My husband, teenage daughter and I had a blissfully relaxing time here. We went on a couple of trips and the house is well located for those who want to do a bit more than we did. Isabella and her husband were friendly and welcoming. Very quiet and serene farmhouse situated in the vineyards, with a splendid view on the valley and a very nice pool we enjoyed a lot. Close to Pavia, Genoa and the Riviera, all beautiful places to visit. Nice villages with their historic centers in the surroundings. Commercial centers and other shops within 10 min by car in Ovada, as well as good restaurants. We have found a haven of peace in the home of Isabella and Michele. Very warm welcome.

A great place for a holiday

We spent a lovely two weeks here. The accommodation, gardens and pool are excellent, peaceful and very relaxing with beautiful views. Being set in a vineyard the property offers a unique holiday experience, enhanced by the quality of the wine Isabella produces. Very well located for visiting northern Italian cities and tourist attractions with an easy drive down to the coast at Genova. We found all the local people to be most friendly and helpful. Isabella and family are delightful and could not have done more to make our stay very special. We would like to return one day as we love this part of Italy and cannot think of a nicer place to stay than at Ca Mimia!

Spectacular property, wonderful owners, and loving Golder Retriever (Paco). It is certainly a property to which we would readily return and we cannot say enough about how responsive Isabella and her husband were throughout our time with them. There are many good restaurant within easy (15-30 min) driving distance and many tourist attractions for easy day trips.

Lovely space in 1700's restored Farmhouse. Isabella, the owner is welcoming and helpful with info about what to see and do. The pool was lovely. They were picking and crushing grapes while we were there, an added bonus. The vineyard workers were so nice and let us watch them and video! Love, love, loved it. You must go!

What a lovely place,we did have trouble finding the house but Isabella was very very helpfull and came out to meet us. It was just what we had wanted and more,the pool was brand new and we had choosen a place with a pool as we have very busy lives and just wanted to chill out on our own,relax ,read and enjoy the stunning scenery. The location for us was fab,we were within 5 mins of local store and about 15 for supermarkets.We visited Asti which was lovely lots of bars and resturants,although the asti spurmante was too sweet for me! The area is a picture post card and very friendly,but quiet just like we like it,we spent alot of our time by the pool,and having bbq and drinking plenty of the local wines.including Isabellas first bottled wine,its converted me anyway,so even as we have returned we are still buying wine from the gavi area. The whole place s very very clean and provided most of what we needed,there were no sun loungers around the pool but as i did say it was the first or second time the pool had been usued and i did leave a note about that in the visitors book. The hospitality was great,they left us to our selves but if we ever needded any thing they were both happy to help.We had a lovely last evening With them both drink and local foods which was a lovely way to finish our break.we will definatley be back next year,thankyou.

Very friendly owners, nice balcony on which you can enjoy evening dinners, well equiped tidy apartment and beautiful garden with swimming pool. Me and my wife and my four boys had unforgettable get way break in this house. The house is well equipped and located in a very beautiful area. Even if I had a long day one hour in that balcony gives a great refreshment. This property is located in very friendly neighborhood, a nearby small village is also great attraction as it had a family owned restaurant that’s beat many of the big city piazzas restaurants with less than half the price and with real homemade food. Kids are allowed to play on the surrounding large green fields. Vineyards and beautiful flowers will welcome you on that long entrance till home. Nearby there are good spots for swimming in natural rivers small waterfalls can be found on that area you will have good natural spots to walk. You need just to ask Isabella she is a very nice lady she tries her best to make our stay a pleasant stay.

Isabella and her spouse greeted us with such warmth! We traveled in Italy for months with our two twin girls aged 5. Here we received the best greeting overall. This is not just a house, this is a home, nicely decorated. The main bedroom was lovely with its reading corner, South/West-facing windows and comfortable linens. The bathrooms were uttermost clean. A nice open room on the second floor was perfect as a playroom for the children, although they much preferred to go play soccer and ping-pong outside. The large, flat, grass-covered lawn was especially valuable to us city dwellers. The garden was as manicured as the interior. Above all we appreciated several nice attentions such as the owner asking an employee to stop cutting the lawn on our last evening there. I was interested in cooking lessons and inquired about potential courses upon booking. The night of our arrival the owner asked about my needs and kindly offered private courses with her in her own kitchen! Memorable. Really quiet spot (and discrete owners). Beautiful view of the surrounding valleys, hills and Ligurian mountains. On mornings we could hear the cockrow. Simply walking the alley from the entrance to the building relaxed my speedy spouse... Ah, and the internet connexion was quite fast. Really a go without a question. We hope to come back someday.

Our stay in the house was very calm and relaxing. The house is very nice and new, with two big bedrooms, two bathrooms and a nice attic. The kitchen is a bit small but you have a nice terrace where you can have your meals enjoying the landscape. The owners are a nice couple always willing to help you, and giving you ideas of what to see and do in the area. The area is full of castles, nice villages and towns to visit. Genova and the beach are also near. The house is well communicated, the highway is not far.

we had a wonderful week at Cà Mimia. The owners are lovely people who are very willing to provide some very good suggestions for trips, sights and restaurants. The view from the terrace was amazing and we enjoyed several beautiful moonrise over the vineyards. The countryside around is beautiful and full of character, history and of course vineyards. The two bedrooms in the house are comfortable and two bathrooms give the house great comfort. We spend most of the time on the terrace, but the living room was rather large and would have provided plenty of space and comfort for cold days.

Wow what a property. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. A beautiful property in a gorgeous area. Our daughter (15 months) delighted in eating grapes straight off the vine. The weather gave us some amazing photos of sunset and sunrise. We loved it. Very worth a visit!

The location of this house is stunning and the house itself is perfect - everything is new inside and of high qulity. What you can't appreciate from the description is the feeling of being emersed in vinyards, the house itslef being surrounded by its own vinyards. The owners were delightful and couldn't have made us feel more at home or more welcome. The lady of the house maintains that her home made wine is one of the best anywhere - I'd agree with that - if you've never tried this wine it will blow you away. Beautiful villages/towns are on your doorstep and the beaches are about half an hour by car. The scenery is spectacular as are the mountain walks if you venture upa windy road or two.

Very nice place to stay. Good stylish apartment. Great garden with a lovely pool and superb views. Quiet heaven on earth. Isabella and her husband, team and family, are very nice people who will make your holiday perfect. On saturday evening and sunday noon, Isabella cooks for a few people (only on reservation). We surely recommend to enjoy her wonderfull Italian kitchen. Thank you very much for a very nice stay !
