About this cottage rental

The Cottage is located on the outskirts of Perassay. With easy access from all ferry ports and only 1hr 40 minutes from Limoges Airport.
Average summer temperatures ranging between 25 and 32 degrees C
Stargazer cottage sits in the unspoilt region of the Indre, shimmering yellow fields of sunflowers rolling hills and beautiful rural countryside a haven for the keen walker, cyclist or wildlife enthusiast, and as the name suggests the location of the cottage is perfect to sit out on warm summer evenings and be mesmerised by the crystal clear skies with all the stars and constellations and even the Milky Way visible to the naked eye, only to be distracted by the shooting stars.
The cottage is perfectly situated only a short drive to the main road connecting you to either Boussac 14km away to the South. A pretty market town with banks, cafe's, bakery and general newsagent and two supermarkets plus several places that serve excellent food at excellent prices. Or head north on the same road and a ten minute ride brings you into Sainte-Severe-sur-Indre another small market town famous for Jacques Tati 1947 film the "Jour de fete".
The nearest main city is Le Chatre about a twenty minute drive, with excellent restaurants, shops, supermarkets and swimming pool all laid out on pedestrian friendly characterful streets.
If your looking for a little more action Sidiailles lake is only twenty minutes away with sandy beach cafe/ snack bar, pedalos and zip wires running over the water. Another great family day out is to make the trip to Pierres Jaumatre just outside Boussac with high wire adventure playground, outdoor laser quest, Children's play area, restaurant/ cafe bar.
A short walk takes you up to the spectacular giant granite stones view point. The vista is breathtaking as you stand next to the large granite stones moulded into fabulous shapes balanced on one another as the sunsets on the Indre valley.
The Cottage is well equipped with T.V, WIFI, DVD and a selection of Dvd's, books and board games. We have a well stocked garden and are more than happy for you to harvest potatoes, tomatoes, melon or what ever vegetables/ fruits are in season. The cottage has a small seating area at the back with table and chairs ideal for the morning breakfast and a lawned private garden at the front with sun loungers, deck chairs and BBQ.
The cooler winter evenings are a perfect excuse to curl up on the sofa in front of the wood burner after a busy day exploring this beautiful region.
We have lived here for over ten years and all the numerous sights can't be covered in this brief description but we are more than happy to give ideas for places to visit and more detailed information, We want you to have the perfect holiday whether you`re looking for action or just a relaxing getaway, we are here to help.

We have stayed many times in the Haute Vienne region & wanted to try somewhere different. The area we chose was very sleepy- rarely anything to do, little advertised locally. No information or tourism guides around. Looking for farmers markets or plat du jours were no where nearby which meant long car journeys to bigger destinations to get something interesting to experience. The cottage was simple & clean - pity the wc facilities are on the ground floor- during the night was a challenge to not wake your partner if you needed the wc! If you stay ensure you bring essential foods - but be aware there is no oven only stove & microwave. An air fryer would be ideal for such a small cottage.

Very good house to stay. Owners very kind. We stayed 3 days to visit around. The weather was not so good but the house very comfortable and charming. We visited Domaine de George Sand, musee d Aubusson and others villages around... The sky was very cloudy but people very sympathatic.

We enjoyed the authenticity of the house and we were fond of the lovely garden with the little pool full of froggs ; the amazing flowers, the sheep next door... a little painting. The region is verry quiet with little villages , so you have to love nature and traquility if you deceide to come overhere. A wonderfull region for (e-) bikers , but a lot of climbs! For us it was the perfect place to stay a week before we went to the south. Steven and Maureen, thanks fot the unforgetable experience.

From the moment my sister and I stepped through the door we knew we would be happy here! Maureen had the log burning stove up and running and the cottage felt warm and inviting. After running through a few practicalities with us and offering us homemade coffee and walnut cake we unpacked and settled down to English T.V and an evening meal we had prepared in the fully equipped kitchen. There was a hairdryer in one of the bedrooms, electric blankets, radiators and electric fans if needed. There were books and magazines, a DVD player and a good selection of DVD's. The beds were very comfortable, the bedrooms were a good size and we slept like logs!! I would definitely recommend Stargazer Cottage and hope to return very soon!

As mentioned in previous reviews, Maureen and Steve are wonderful hosts and kept us supplied with wood for the stove and even an electric blanket in the unusually cold weather. Stargazer Cottage is ideal for exploring a beautiful area of France and our hosts gave us plenty of suggestions of where to go. The garden is amazing and we were able to wander in it - unfortunately it was not warm enough to sit and enjoy, but we did see plenty of stars at night! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stargazer Cottage.

Would highly recommend staying at stargazer cottage. The owners are incredible hosts and nothing is too much trouble. The cottage itself is more than comfortable for a family of four and the garden is a super space for an evening BBQ and a glass of wine. The location of the cottage was superb for a family with 2 children. There are many different activities that are easily accessible within a short car journey, and particular stand out being the local lake that is safe for swimming and offers a wide range of other activities. Overall the property delivers brilliant value for money and provided us with a family holiday to remember.
