Miramare Hotel

This is a family hotel, genuine and friendly, if a little ragged round the edges. It's eccentric and characterful, with the matriarch peeling vegetables on the table in reception, surrounded by all manner of odd folk drinking beer or playing patience: a community of oddites. A Welshman and a South African, among others, all very friendly and getting on with their lives. The room was comfortable, I slept well. The bathroom was likewise fine, it was hot as hell so the aircon was a welcome relief, clean and effective. Its a bit of a one horse town but I'd definitely go back to this hotel if I came back here. When I left I missed it.

If you're looking for luxury look elsewhere. Not much English spoken here, so if you can learn a few phrases of Greek it would help, but that goes without saying... I felt I experienced a bit of authentic Greek life here, which is not always the case on the Greek Islands

The staff was lovely, we felt welcome.

The hotel is a bit old-fashioned with slightly outdated interior, but this fact is more than made up for by the sweet elderly couple that manage it. They are super friendly, very facilitating and incredibly helpful. The hotel is just outside the center of town and close to restaurants, cafes, a supermarket and car rentals. Also, you can walk to and from the ferry port, to travel to other islands and/or Athens. I would definitely stay there again !

The shower and bathroom were a bit small and could use an update.
