About this house rental
Set high above Huruhi Bay, Skomer House is a calm, light filled home with wide sea views, all day sun, and relaxed living across two levels. Renovated and easy to live in, it suits families or small groups wanting space, outlook, and a quiet base for island days.
The Space:
Skomer House is arranged to make the most of its elevated position. The upper level centres around the view, with the main living, dining, and kitchen areas opening to a deck that looks out across the bay. This level works well for shared meals, slow mornings, and evenings spent watching the light change over the water.
Two bedrooms sit on the upper level, along with an ensuite and a family bathroom, keeping everyday living practical and connected. Large windows throughout bring in natural light and coastal outlooks, and the indoor–outdoor flow makes it easy to move between the living spaces and the deck.
Downstairs, a second living area creates a separate zone for children, teenagers, or guests wanting their own quiet retreat. A full bathroom on this level adds flexibility for longer stays or mixed-age groups. The layout allows everyone to spread out while still feeling connected.
Bed configuration:
• Bedroom 1 – super king bed (with ensuite)
• Bedroom 2 – double bed
• Bedroom 3 – two king single beds
Bookings accepted on request.
Guest Access:
Guests have full access to the home, including both levels, the deck, outdoor areas, and on-site parking.
The Neighborhood:
Skomer House sits within a short drive of Oneroa Village, Palm Beach, and some of Waiheke’s most loved food and wine spots.
Oneroa offers cafés, bakeries, and relaxed dining including Wai Kitchen, Fenice, The Local, Vino Vino, and small shops and galleries lining the main street. Palm Beach is only minutes away for swimming, walking, and long afternoons on the sand.
Nearby vineyards include Mudbrick, Cable Bay, and Kennedy Point, all within easy reach for lunches and tastings. Ostend’s supermarket and the Saturday Farmers’ Market are close for supplies and fresh produce.
Getting Around:
Regular buses run from Onetangi, stopping near major wineries, including The Heke, Tantalus, Stonyridge, Te Motu, The Heke and Wild Estate, before continuing into Oneroa Village and onward to the Matiatia passenger ferry. The nearest bus stop is a short walk from the property’s access road.
Taxis, e-bikes, scooter hire, and rental cars are also available across the island. Parking at the property makes arriving with your own vehicle simple.
Other Things to Note:
The property operates on rainwater tanks, so guests must be mindful of water use, especially during summer.
Minimum stays are 7 nights mid-December to mid-January, 3 nights for the remainder of January and all holiday weekends, and 2 nights at all other times.
