A beautifully renovated and decorated duplex apartment in a traditional Breton townhouse, sleeping up to six comfortably. The house is located in a quiet side street on the port of Dinan. The apartment has its own landscaped garden over 1500 m2 with views of the ramparts, wooden terrasse, garden and BBQ.

The historic centre of medieval Dinan is also close by , and a short car drive, (about 30 minutes) ,brings you to the beautiful family beaches of the North coast and a string of attractive coastal villages and towns.

Our family stayed here for a 3rd time (2017, 2022) in June 2025 and had a great time. The house is extremely well located at the port of Dinan. On one day we kayaked the Rance River in the morning and went to San Malo (30 minute drive) for dinner. On another day we went into Dinan (old town) in the morning, grilled up some lunch in the house’s large and beautiful back yard and went to Mont St Michel in the evening. Everything about our stay was great.

Loved this house, getting to experience a little bit of history. The house is a very old, stone building. so much charm. The inside is modern with touches left exposed like stone in some areas and great big wood beams that look like they were cut by hand. The owners live in the bottom two floors and the renters in the upper two floors. (For American's - they will say you have the 2nd & 3rd floors - which means for us the 3rd & 4th). It can be a little tricky finding the home and the parking space, but it is well worth the adventure!Following the road down to the little bridge (walking) takes you to the port of Dinan. So picturesque and wonderful mom & pop restaurants. Keep going straight up the cobble stone road and the medieval buildings join you on a short hike up to the heart of Dina. We loved the location as it was out of the busy-ness of Dinan but close to enjoy the area. A note - if staying in summer, it can get very hot and there are no air conditioners or fans. Be sure to close the black out drapes to keep the heat of the sun in, then open the windows with the sheers closed to drop the temperature for sleeping. The top floor is VERY warm.Overall, we loved our stay! and recommend this property!

Jean jaques was very friendly and helpful the property was very clean it is very well situated in the port of Dinan. The only down side was the outside space ( the garden) as it was not very accessible and if you wanted to bbq or have a drink in the garden it was very steep and a long way from the property to take all the things you need.

Great location in Lanvallay, a short walk to the river and many good restaurants. The apartment was roomy and nicely decorated. And there many features to help travelers, e.g. a clothes dryer. The kitchen was well supplied. Off street parking a real plus.

Interior spaces are nicely arranged, decorated, and inviting. The availability of a clothes washer and dryer is a big plus, as is the easy walking proximity to restaurants. The spiral stairs extending up multiple levels are intimidating, and may not be feasible for guests with any mobility limitations or exercise intolerance. Communication limitations with the host were solely due to our lack of fluency in French, as he was very solicitous, kind and attentive. Any issues were due to our limitations, not his!

We very much enjoyed our visit to Dinan and our stay at this property. Dinan is our favorite town in Dinan and this was our second extended visit. We especially love the port area and that is the location of this house. Such an easy walk to restaurants and the most wonderful boulangerie. Easy day trips to Combourg, St Malo, Mont Ste-Michel, the oyster beds at Cancale, etc. Jean Jacques, although he speaks no English and we no French, was very helpful and was so kind to help me out when I got into difficulty backing our car out of a tight spot (I’m a bit out of practice driving a manual car)—he took over and saved the day!

We had a lovely stay at Jean-Jacques wonderful apartment. He was there to greet us on arrival and show us around, there really is everything that you could need provided and the beds were really comfy. Off road parking in the courtyard too which was super handy. It’s such a fab location literally two minutes walk to the river and wonderful restaurants. I lost my ring whilst at the apartment and Jean-Jacques contacted it to say he’d found it and he kept it safe until I was able to collect it the following week - thank you! All in all we were really pleased we had booked to stay there, a lovely apartment in a perfect location!

Situated around the corner from the picturesque and vibrant port and a great location for exploring Dinan. A very atmospheric, unique and comfortable house. Great facilities and a friendly welcome. We visited some beautiful nearby villages, towns and beaches. We have lots of happy memories from our stay and would certainly recommend it.

Such a great location. Situated a street away from the picturesque riverside port it was quiet and such a prime location. A very old building, full of character. The host was friendly and made us feel very welcome. Lovely walks along the Rance and plenty to see and do in Dinan as well. We only wish we'd all brough our bikes!

The property is very old and historic on the 2nd and 3rd floors up a spiral staircase. There are interesting photos to look at regarding the port of Dinan. It is very well situated for the restaurants and activities of the port and there are many different ways to walk up to the main town. We also cycled in both directions along the velo route direct from the property. The property was well equipped and our stay was very comfortable. A definite plus was being able to leave our car in the courtyard and out our bike in a storage shed. Jean-Jacques lives next door and it was lovely trying to speak to him about the house and garden.

Our family (2 adults, children 12 and 16) stayed here in 2017 and decided to return this summer (2022). We love everything about the place. The port neighborhood of Dinan is perfect. We biked along the Rance and walked to Lehon a few times. We went to the neighborhood bakery several times. It is easy to access the rest of Brittany from this location as well. We went to the coast near Cancale several times (25 minutes away), had dinner in San Malo and day tripped to the Rose Granite Coast (just under 2 hours away). The parking was easy and the beds were comfortable. Hopefully we can return again soon.

This was our first visit to France, and my wife and two teenagers (13 and 15) were absolutely entranced by the amazing rental accommodation in Lanvallay, in Brittany. First of all, the location of the house is incredible. It is in a small historic neighborhood of stone houses from several hundred years ago. The house itself is amazing as well, and the owners have taken great care to both preserve the historic charm as well as provide modern conveniences such as a very nice kitchen with induction cooking, dishwasher, a clothes washer and dryer, and modern plumbing features in the two bathrooms. The bedroom on the main floor is very comfortable and the two other upstairs bedrooms are perfect for a family of 4-5 people. The house was very clean and there were helpful instructions in English from the owner about how to check in and prepare for departure. Jean-Jacques, the owner, met us when we arrived and showed us how to operate everything, as well as give some information about Dinan and the Cote D'Armor region. The location of the house is excellent, just across the bridge from Dinan's main thoroughfare to reach the old town and its center, about 20 minutes walk through a charming 15th century street. The house is also very close to the river and port, plus the walking path that follows the Rance river. There are also several restaurants and bakeries within a few minutes walk. Mont St. Michel and Fort la Latte are two very beautiful places to visit within 1 hour drive. You can spend many days exploring this area and have a wonderful experience. a nicer place to visit. We hope to be back again in the future and would certainly book another stay here.

We loved staying at Jean Jacques’ property in Lanvallay - so comfortable, so convenient and really like a home away from home. The accommodation was spacious and with the kids upstairs and us downstairs we all had our own space. The kids were thrilled with the TVs in their bedrooms, and the TV in the main bedroom could also get English channels which was welcome in the late evening. Laundry room upstairs was neat and clean and so useful. Dinan is such a lovely old town, just a short walk up the hill from the apartment. All in all, it was perfect in every way so thank you Jean Jacques!!

Jean-Jacques is an excellent host and made sure that we had everything we needed. The location is perfect for walks along the Rance river and into the historic city of Dinan and access to excursions outside of the city is easy.The one note that I would add is, if you are driving to the gîte use the address, 27 bis Rue Madeleine because Rue de l'Abbaye is a cobblestone street that is too small for cars. The entrance to the unit is on Rue Madeleine.We would highly recommend this wonderful VRBO and would definitely return there for future visits to Brittany.

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful place and I have to say that this VRBO has been the nicest, most well-equipped apartment /gîte that I have stayed in. Jean-Jacques is an excellent host and made sure that we had everything we needed. The location is perfect for walks along the Rance river and into the historic city of Dinan and access to excursions outside of the city is easy. The one note that I would add is, if you are driving to the gîte use the address, 27 bis Rue Madeleine because Rue de l'Abbaye is a cobblestone street that is too small for cars. The entrance to the unit is on Rue Madeleine. We would highly recommend this wonderful VRBO and would definitely return there for future visits to Brittany.

The location is superb - just a short stroll to the river with lovely bars and restaurants and then a magical walkway up a cobble stoned lane directly up to the oldest part of Dinan Town - or as our lovely host explained, there's a free bus every 20 mins near the proprety which takes you right up into the town if you want to avoid the hill (don't miss it though it's superb(!). The accommodation is absolutely magical - it's NOT the cream timbered house at the front left of the photo, it's the red shuttered one in the centre, our host Jean Jaques lives on the bottom floor and you have your own enterence to the two top floors - it's like living history and Jean Jaques has done a simply wonderful authentic renovation to create a very very special place. We enjoyed a wonderful three day stay and think it's probably the best way to see the Dinan area. Thank You to Jean Jaques for such attention to detail and hospitality which made it a really lovely stay 5 star plus!

Dinan is easily one of the best places to stay in Brittany and Lanvalley was a real treat. With 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms it was very comfortable for the 4 of us. The appartment is very well equipped and well designed. We loved the old beams and high ceilings along with all the modern touches that make so easy to live in. Jean Jacques was extremely cordial and took the time to explain how to use everything. Having designated parking was a real treat although there is a fair bit of parking in low season in the area. It was the perfect base for exploring the marches of Brittany and Western Normandy . Book dinner up at the Marmite d/LAbbaye in Lehorn, just 30 minutes walk up the river or a 10 minute drive. It is superb.

Ideal situation by the river, just far enough from the town to not be disturbed, with a free bus service during the day up to the centre. Beautifully clean , spacious and warm accommodation with every facility. Be aware that it is on the 2nd floor and it is a long climb!

JeanJacques was very helpful despite his complete lack of English. It is quite a climb to the third and fourth floors as we would term them. Best equipped kitchen I have ever seen in a vacation rental. The best part is the location. Really a wonderful location for exploring medieval Dinan and the lovely river Rance. Parking is a dedicated spot about two blocks away.

The apartment is very comfortable. In the kitchen they is everything required and Jean Jacques provided many things for assistance in cooking. The apartment is very quiet and yet is just a few minutes walk from the Port with its restaurants. A superb range and very good quality dining close at hand. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The location of the apartment is amazing. The river Rance is a mere 60 second walk away. We had immediate access to historic Dinan and didn't have to worry about driving or parking. There are numerous restaurants along the river, and the grocery stores are less than 5 minutes away by car. Check in and check out were seamless. There are many other sites to see in the surrounding area if you have a car. It was a great vacation for us!

Jean-Jacques was a wonderful host and the apartment in Lanvallay was everything we hoped it would be. The apartment was spacious with all of the modern conveniences we needed for our eight day stay. Jean-Jacques has renovated it so that outside and throughout the two floors it has all the charm of an old, comfortable house. We loved it! And it is very quiet. Dinan port is right across the stone bridge and historic Dinan is a short walk up the (steep) cobblestone street, rue de Petit Fort. Rue de Petit Fort has many art galleries and at the top, though the ancient stone gate is great shopping and dining. There are so many cool places around Lanvallay/Dinan that are easy to get to and that you must see if you are in the area: St. Malo (walk the ramparts), Le Mont St. Michel, Ile de Brehat and the way cool city of Rennes (go to the center where tn shopping is). Spent a week in Jean Jacque’s lovely property. The master bedroom has convenient powder room and separate shower/sink in adjacent room. Bedrooms and bath on floor above have lots of privacy. Kitchen is spacious and provides every appliance you’d ever need for cooking. Quiet street in the heart of the port, where bakery and restaurants are an easy walk away. Gracious, helpful host offering exceptionally clean accommodations. This place is a gem, so reserve well in advance.

We had a wonderful visit exploring Dinan and the surrounding areas. The home is beautifully kept and very comfortable for our family of 5. We loved being tucked away near the river, while still having easy access to the town centre. The riverside path makes for a fantastic morning run or ride and the patisserie just over the bridge was one of the best we experienced in Northern France. Jean Jacques Fourniers apartment is spacious, really well equipped and is in a brilliant location. Great views, good coffee machine, comfortable beds, we were made to feel very welcome. We loved that the place also has a dedicated parking space, so helpful. Walking distance to hundreds of shops, cafes, bars. Great utility room for doing laundry. And very well equipped kitchen. The duplex apartment is spacious, beautiful, well equipped and very clean. Jean Jacques is a marvellous host - very kind, very helpful and very discreet. We had a lovely one week stay here. The apartment is well situated in Dinan's old port - a charming part of Dinan with plenty of restaurants nearby. From the apartment you can go for lovely walks along the river and Dinan itself is about a 10 minute walk up the beautiful Rue du Petit-Fort. The apartment is ideally located to explore other parts of Brittany such as St Malo and Concale (about 30 minutes drive) or slightly further afield eg Mont St Michel is just under an hour's drive. Having a parking space included with the rental is great and makes life easier. We wouldn't hesitate to come back here or to recommend to our friends.

My family and I (wife, daughters 11 and 7) stayed here for 4 nights in June and loved it. The house itself has more than we needed. We cooked all four nights, the beds are comfortable, the bathroom is great and it has both a washer and a dryer. The place is, in my opinion, perfectly located. It is steps away from a fantastic bakery that made all of the Breton treats (and the bread and breakfast treats were also superior). The port is really the best place to be because of the easy parking, the quick access to the old town and the beautiful walking path to Lehon along the Rance. We did the walk twice during our stay. Note that in Lehon along the walk there's a public pool with a water slide. We went and the kids had a great time. The dedicated parking spot is a must have. We drove to MSM, Saint Malo, Forte La Latte, and Cancale during our 4 days there and it was easy to drive in and out of the location (and parking was never a concern). The home is ideal for a family with 2 kids travelling with another couple. The home has two levels - the first has the kitchen, a bathroom and a large beautiful room with a queen bed and television, etc. The upper level has an amazing bathroom, a room with a double bed and a room with two twin beds. The 2 floors are relatively separated from one another so that the family and the extra couple would each have privacy. All in all, one of the best places I've stayed!

この宿に決めてよかった。場所は港の石橋から約50m。車の場合には一方通行の都合により少し大回りをしなければならないが、宿の前に一時駐車して荷降ろしができる。徒歩約3分、高架橋の下のリモコンで開閉する駐車場に、ゲスト専用の場所が用意されている。予約時、どの建物なのか、入口はどこなのか、写真だけではわかりにくかったが、予約直後に、近辺の地図を説明入りで送ってもらえた。それと同時に賃貸契約書が送られてきた。こんなケースは初めてなので、よほど神経質な人なのかと想像していたが、到着時オーナーは熱心に室内の設備を説明してくださり、質問にも丁寧に答えてもらえて、感じが良かった。建物内の螺旋階段は、60歳女性がスーツケースを持って上がるには結構きつい。１，２階はオーナーの住居で、３，４階がゲスト用。第２、第３の寝室がある４階へ行くには一度出て、螺旋階段を上る。二人で泊まるにはもったいないほど広い。少々床が傾いている部分もあるが、暖炉やかまどの跡が残されていて昔の家の雰囲気を味わえるので、気にならなかった。設備は万全。シャワーもトイレも台所も気持ちよく使えた。使用済みタオルを一箇所にまとめ、ゴミをまとめ、使用したものを元の場所に戻すということを実践した結果、掃除の代金を免除してもらえた。石橋を渡ったところのパン屋のクロワッサンが美味しかった。港の風景が美しく、カフェに座りスケッチをして過ごした。また港から旧市街中心部への坂道は、木組みの家が連なり、タイムスリップした感覚になった。Cet appartement nous a plu. Nestled in the charm of Dinan's ancient port, this is a fully modern gite, sparkling clean, and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need during a holiday stay. The host is friendly and helpful. Across the bridge, there is an excellent boulangerie and some very fine cafes. A quick 20-minute walk (or 5-minute drive) up the hill to Lanvallay brings you to two supermarkets, so it's easy to cook your own meals. We enjoyed long morning walks along the canal and climbs up the steep cobblestone street to the main town. We used this gite as a base for exploring eastern Brittany by car, and it worked well. A tip: If you are using a GPS, always set the direction to Lanvallay. Once in Lanvallay, then set the gite's address. Otherwise, the GPS will take you on very strange routes through and around Dinan port.
