Location: last house on an alley leading into the mountains. Perfect combination of urban (10 min walk to the bakery) and rural (so quiet, that deer come to the house at night). The house is fully equipped, from a large flat-screen TV to stove and washing machine, because during the off-season, it is used by the family. So everything is tried and true, no cheap or ill-planned installation or furniture. The large garden is great for a quiet, relaxing day at home. The location is a good starting point for bike or hike trips into the beautiful area. It couldn’t have been better.

With a party of five and a dog, we had a great holiday. It was very hot (36 degrees Celcius) and we mostly had to stay inside during the warm hours of the day (11 am till 6 pm) Luckily, there was an extra bedroom and living room available, otherwise the house would have been a bit small. Living outside, even reading a book on the terrace, was not possible during most part of the day. Also, we had to be very careful with the water. We were warned that the well could dry out out during our stay (the nice lady of the house made sure we had almost 20 bottled of mineral water just in case). Thank god it didn’t happen. Apart from these weather conditions, the environment is truly beautiful. The view from the house is nothing less than spectacular. After a short walk you get to the village where there’s always a festive mood. Do visit the bakery, they make sourdough bread and baguettes every day: so delicious! The way back up is a bit more challenging, especially in the heat. You will definitely need a car to explore the surroundings, public transportation is not a strong point in this region. Cool down in the river Sorgue, you can play and swim 3 kilometers from the house. We also drove all the way to Arles, Avignon, Marseille and -our favourite- Aix-en-Provence. A bit closer is L’Isle sur la Sorgue, such a cosy little town with good restaurants (much better than the ones in Fontaine de Vaucluse). All in all, we really enjoyed our stay.

This property is straight out of a Marcel Pagnol book. Only 5 min walk into the village but when at the house you feel like you are miles away. If you´re looking for peace and relaxation surrounded by olive trees and the natural beauty of provence then this is your place.

La Periere is a traditional house in a beautiful and peaceful setting, yet within walking distance of the village of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. The house is surrounded by its own land with olive and almond trees and beautiful wild flowers. La Periere is very clean, thoughtfully presented, well-equipped and (importantly) has very comfortable beds. Mr and Mme Ferragut are exceptional hosts and provided a very warm welcome and were always contactable if required. We would love to return to this wonderful house and area!

While browsing the entry for " La Periere " in anticipation of our next visit in June- I noticed that there are no reviews since 2012. Also that there are none in English- so, pour encourager les autres anglais- here goes. Since I discovered La Fontaine in the 60's , as a student staying at the youth hostel across the valley, I've been under the spell of this magical place- both for its enchanting setting and its almost mythological history. Inevitably it soaks up waves of visitors by day but evenings are peaceful except for sound of the Sorgue river rushing through the village. Previous reviews convey the attractions of the house, sheltered by its cliffs and surrounded by olive trees and foliage of all kinds. With its dry-stone walls, aromatic plants and rugged terrain it really is a microcosm of Provence and a haven of tranquillity . With the recent addition of WIFI and television (discretely concealed from view when not in use), modern technology has arrived to complement the pervading rustic calm. We have enjoyed the generous hospitality of Marie-Jose and Jean-Louis every year since 2009 - can't wait to return this summer, Gordon Mason

Altes Haus, renoviert, restauriert, mit Vollausstattung und viel persönlicher Atmosphäre, mitten in der Natur, mehrere hundert Meter oberhalb von Fontaine-de-Vaucluse gelegen. Was für uns etwas lästig war, dass die einzige Toilette im Erdgeschoss und die drei Schlafräume im Obergeschoss liegen. Der Duschraum mit Waschbecken ist etwas klein geraten. Der Wasserdruck ist gering. Stromausfälle bei geringer Überlastung kamen vor. Bei schönem Wetter war es herrlich, draußen auf der Terrasse zu weilen. Das Haus ist ideal für Naturliebhaber und Wanderer, denn die herrliche Umgebung bietet reichlich Möglichkeiten hierzu.

Nous avons passé une semaine très agréable dans une maison provençale magnifique. Mme Ferragut nous a accueilli le premier soir avec un dîner que nous avons beaucoup apprécié (potage, fromage local, pain et fraises) avant de nous faire découvrir son mas plein de surprises et de petit secret. Malgré le tourisme important de Fontaine de Vaucluse, cette maison sur la hauteur est très calme et nous avons passé des nuits reposantes. Nous recommanderons cette location sans problème.

Bonjour, je doit ecrire en alleman... Es ist ein wunderschöner Ort, der viel Stille und Erholung in sich trägt. Das Haus von Mme Frerragut ist genauso wie es beschrieben ist: Großzügig, sehr gut ausgestattet, liebevoll gepflegt und in jedem Falle empfehlenswert. Das einzige, das noch sehr nett wäre, wäre eine Couch, auf der man sich ein bisschen "lümmeln" könnte. Ansonsten ist wirklich alles ganz wunderbar.....sehr zu empfehlen!!

Un accueil souriant et efficace, un jardin merveilleux et plein de surprises, autant que la maison, dont les parents ont apprécié le calme et le confort, et les enfants les petits trésors et cachettes. Et comme le temps a été somptueux, nous avons bien profité des environs pour marcher (au bout du jardin) et visiter les alentours. Merci pour votre coin de paradis !

De bien belles vacances! Le cadre est vraiment conforme à ce que l'on voit sur les photos. C'est extraordinaire de pouvoir se retirer au calme dans ce cadre merveilleux et profiter pleinement du paysage alors que, à peine en quelques minutes à pied, on se retrouve en pleine animation au cœur des fontaines. Nous avons appréciés l'accueil des propriétaires sympathiques et discrets mais attentifs au bon déroulement de notre séjour. Idéal pour des séjours en famille et découvrir cette superbe région. Formidable ... Nous avons eu l'impression d'arriver dans la maison d'un livre de Pagnol. La maison a une âme, le tilleul a abrité nos repas accompagné par le crissement des cigales, tout a été fait par les propriétaires pour nous faire nous sentir chez nous : plein de petites attentions, des marques de confiance et beaucoup de gentillesse. Le meilleur souvenir de l'été !

"Séjour réussi dans cet endroit charmant et ressourçant ! La maison est très bien équipée, l''environnement est exceptionnellement calme et ''hors du temps'', ce que nous avons beaucoup apprécié. La situation est idéale pour rayonner dans la région, que ce soit du coté du Vaucluse ou dans le Luberon tout proche. Beaucoup de sentiers de randonnée aux alentours, mais vu les fortes chaleurs nous n''avons pas pu les tester... Nous garderons un très bon souvenir de cette semaine. "Une maison comme un rêve de maison en Provence quand ce n''est pas un cliché .Avec une terrasse au soleil ,tout le nécessaire pour vivre de belle façon ,confortablement .Un lieu habité depuis toujours ,un paysage exceptionnel.Un accueil sincère et généreux.Le village est tout prés par une belle petite route ((5 minutes à la descente ,dix pour monter).Les ecologistes peuvent venir en car ou en taxi depuis Avignon TGV,il y a un bus et des taxis.Les randonnées à partir de la maison ou du village sont extra (abbaye de Senanque à 5 heures d emarche dans un paysage trés agreable. merci,à bientôt"

"Wir haben 2 Wochen in diesem wunderschönen Haus verbracht.Es ist sehr geschmackvoll und gemütlich eingerichtet, die gut ausgerüstete und schöne Küche macht Lust auf ausgiebiges Kochen- der Garten ist einmalig, mit einer Vielzahl an Bäumen und Sträuchern.Man ist ganz nahe beim schönen Dorf- das nur tagsüber viele Turisten hat- und doch ganz für sich in absoluter Ruhe und umgeben von der üppigen Natur.Die Hausbesitzerin hat uns sehr herzlich empfangen und uns gut informiert über alles Wichtige.Wir werden nächstes Jahr wieder kommen, weil uns einfach alles im und um das Haus gefallen hat."

"C''est la 2e fois que nous séjournons dans cette villa et nous y avons fait à nouveau un très agréable séjour. L''espace, le calme, l''air, la végétation, les senteurs parfumées et une grande villa pleine de charme font de cet endroit en plein coeur de la Provence un lieu où il fait vraiment bon vivre. L''accueil toujours aussi chaleureux des propriétaires ajoute au plaisir du séjour. Le village en contrebas (10 minutes à pied)est pittoresque et situé dans un décor magnifique. On y trouve quelques très bons restaurants. En quittant un tel endroit, on espère y revenir un jour. C''est ce que nous avons fait."

Très bien placée pour visiter le Vaucluse. Calme et tranquillité absolue. Les repas à l'ombre du grand tilleul sur la terrasse dans cette nature superbe nous plongent dans l'univers de Pagnol. Accueil chaleureux des propriétaires. Nous y avons passé deux semaines très agréables et nous n'hésiterions pas à y retourner."
