About this cottage rental

Cosy ex-farm workers cottage in lovely countryside. Available for winter/spring breaks and now taking bookings for Easter / summer 2026. Dog friendly. Red squirrels, interesting bird-life, riverside walks, nearby Mounties to climb. For larger groups, my sister lives in the adjoining cottage and has a self-contained double en suite room on a b&b basis
nb all bookings of my cottage 2023-25 were direct / repeat visitors or thro Airbnb - see recent reviews there - mostly 5* - I am no longer taking bookings there due to their political policies. The property is old fashioned. It is a 1950s ex-farm workers cottage with metal frame windows in all but the front bedroom ( hope to upgrade to double glazing late 2026) and efficient central heating plus a stove keeps the place cosy. Cottage is a cosy ex-farm workers cottage only a mile from town. It is a semi-detached 2 bedroom ( sleeps4 +small child ) property on East Lochlane Farm, with the farm buildings now over 1 mile away at West Lochlane. It is set on the low Comrie Road/Strowan Road in beautiful countryside with excellent views, 2 miles from Crieff High Street, (1 mile from the bottom of the town where there is a bus stop for buses to Dunblane and Stirling and there is the Crieff Visitor Centre) and 5 miles from the lovely village of Comrie. It is surrounded by fabulous walking country with red squirrels and plentiful bird-life in the garden and about the place including often birds of prey (Red Kite, Buzzards) Canada Geese etc seen without leaving the garden. There are various bike trails, bike hire 3 miles away at Comrie Croft, gorgeous gardens 2.5 miles away at Drummond castle, opportunities for fishing (permits from Crieff Tourist Board) and golfing (courses abound), the local distillery, Innerpeffray Library and Chapel (5.5 miles), watersports on Loch Earn 12 miles away etc. Perth museum, arts centre and fabulous Scone palace, various castles ( Stirling, Doune, Blair etc). It is about 1 hour drive to Edinburgh and Glasgow (or park and ride at Dunblane or Bridge of Allan( excellent ice cream shop too), a glorious 2-3 hours drive (especially early morning thorugh Glencoe) to Oban for ferries to the Islands or why not have lunch at the Pier House with views to the inner hebridean islands. Good stops at the famous Green Welly stop and at Ballachulish.
Also going in the other direction at Lochearnhead towards Callendar and the Trossachs (after driving up the side of the loch) Balquidder has Mhor 84 and its mother hotel at Monaichle Mhor might be worth a trip. As well as the Perth Concert Hall and Theatre there is a new museum with the stone of destiny on display.
Drummond Gardens are 2 miles away and are gorgeous in all seasons (formal, used in TV shows such as Outlander as a stand - in for Versailles - and also recently featured on Gardeners World episode 1)
Scone Palace is just outside Perth, as is Scone horse racing course. There are castles within easy reach - Stirling, Blair, Glamis etc - and of course many distilleries. Cultybraggan camp just outside Comrie has a small museum with limited hours and near to that is the Auchingarrich wildlife centre with much for the younger child to explore.
The only 2 x 2 *michelin restaurants in Scotland are within 10 miles at Glenturret Distillery (3 miles away ) and at Gleneagles hotel. There are other good restaurants in Crieff (G's, Delivino's, Craobh) Comrie (De'il's cauldron) and Coorie Inn in Comrie has fabulous new owners (previously at Gleneagles) - only 3 miles away. There is also a good pizza place (limited opening hours) in the small village of Muthill (and in 2025 a new one one in Crieff too, and new bakery and patisseries )good "chippy" in Crieff, also Gurkhas, well reviewed thai restaurant both in Crieff.
There are hills to climb, gorgeous walks locally (Lady Mary's, glenturret, glenledknock, sma glen etc) and further afield; golf courses a-plenty, cinemas in Aberfeldy by Loch Tay (another pretty drive) , MacRobert Centre Stirling, Perth of course (hourly buses from the central square in Crieff)

While the cottage itself was nice, we arrived to a cold cottage and were without radiant heat for 2 of the 5 nights of our stay. While there was firewood made available, we could not stay up all night tending the fire and it did nothing to warm both bedrooms. An electric heater was present which did not work so another was left for us which helped warm one room.We were unable to consistently contact the host about this as she was away traveling (which we knew before booking) and relied on her sister who lived next door. Her sister refused to step literally one step into the kitchen to see the thermostat control because my mother unfortunately had covid, despite me making very clear that we were fully masked indoors and she was welcome to mask as well. Not sure why it was such an issue since the boiler was located outside of the living space in a separate area from us, but eventually her brother came to look at it and somehow it magically started working? When I asked Ginny if she could refund a portion of our stay she begrudgingly refunded 10% claiming that it was our fault for arriving with covid and we had to "suffer the consequences". As an immune compromised person who takes extreme care with my wellbeing I was offended by the responses I received from Ginny and on that alone would not consider staying here again.

We stayed at Honeysuckle Cottage for 1 week and absolutely loved our stay. It is a charming roomy cottage with a lovely back garden. Our host, Ginny, could not have been more helpful prior to our stay with detailed (lyrical) messages that made us feel so welcome and also ensured we were familiar with the area before we got there. When at the cottage, our hosts sister and her husband, that live next door, could not have been more helpful in providing local knowledge and supplying us with the best tasting veggies one can ever get. They all played a big part in ensuring that our family had a fantastic stay. We made memories we'll never forget (the nearby location for the river dip will not be forgotten). I'd highly recommend a stay at Honeysuckle Cottage. We hope to make it back in the not too distant future.

Fishing nearby and location was excellent, even for partners who visited local attractions. Very comfortable and well equipped. Nice welcoming pack of local bread, butter and shortbread! Highly recommended!

The cottage was a great find. Full of character, set in tranquil surroundings with great outdoor space. The cottage was really comfortable with everything that you could need provided. The village of Crieff is about 1 mile away with some very nice walks and eateries. Comrie Croft also really worth a visit for mountain bike hire and trails. The weather was also fabulous. Ginny, our host, was easily contactable and communication was great. Thanks so much.
