About this house rental

This picturesque, tranquil, rural , air-conditioned property, consisting of a romantic 200 -year- old trullo and its integral but independent, modern villa is private without being isolated. The new pool is completely hidden from the lane and neighbours can barely be seen as the house is set amongst olive trees, yet the town of Ceglie is visible from the edge of the land.Whenever you visit, there is garden produce: figs, almonds, cherries, apricots, walnuts or pomegranates. A pool maintenance team arrives early in the morning twice a week and a gardener waters the plants. They try to time visits to avoid guests. Barbeque peacefully at the shady, garden table; lounge in the sunshine on the big veranda or sunbathe at the poolside. Sun or shade is accessible all day long. Sunsets are spectacular and at night, there is a clear, star-studded sky and the sound of the scopsowl.
The trullo, has its own separate facilities, (wet room and kitchen) a large double bed, white wood chests of drawers, hanging space, linen, games, television, wifi and books. The villa has two comfortable rooms and a bathroom: one is a king-size bedroom with drawers and wardrobe; the other a living room with generous dining furniture, fitted kitchen, sofa-bed and character fireplace. There is a portable music centre with CDs. . It is possible to rent either the trullo, or the villa or the whole property
Higher rates are charged for a larger group of renters ie 6-8 but this is not recommended as it spoils the living spaces and stretches the resources. 4-6 is ideal.

This quaint Italian home is particularly suitable for people who like the countryside and who would like to see the real Puglia. It is comfortable and homely, being our much-loved second home and not just an empty rental property. The big shady veranda and the 10x4 swimming pool are huge assets. Personally, I love the facility to swim whenever I want to and the ability to keep cool. The neighbours and the ladies who maintain the house are warm and hospitable. The check-in girls are thorough and readily available should you require assistance or advice.
Seaside towns like Santa Sabina or Villa Nova on the Adriatic are 30 minutes away by car; long white beaches of Porto Caesario on the Ionian are an hour’s drive; the celebrated hill-top towns of Ostuni( the white city) , Locorotondo and Cisternino or Martina Franca and Alberobello are all within a 40 minute journey. There are many places of interest within easy reach besides those, noteably the caves at Castellano Grotte; Matera, the cave- town setting for the Passion of Christ and the whole of Salento with its picturesque resorts and beaches, together with the many fortified medieval sea-side towns like Otranto and Gallipoli. Bari and Brindisi are the big ports for Croatia and Greece. Sicily is near enough to visit for a short stay. Nearer to home, in Ceglie town itself, the Banana Club is a pretty swimming pool with restaurant, cafe showers and toilets. There are also caves nearby. The town has tennis courts and there is a good variety of quality eateries spanning the complete price range. The quaint, old, cobbled quarter comes alive at night in the season, with street cafes and restaurants, a bustling square, bars and live music, fiestas and stalls. Visitors usually love the tranquility of the house and garden as well as the convenient, accessible location. They also love the friendly, unpretentious and characterful old town with its party atmosphere especially in June,July and August.

We have just returned from our two week holiday at this authentic Trullo and villa. We were greeted by Roberta who showed us around the property. She was also just a phone call away if needed. When we ran out of gas in the kitchen Roberta was straight round with a replacement bottle. The property has everything you need for your holiday. Jo even supplies beach/pool towels and cool bags for days out. There are two well stocked kitchens and two bathrooms. The property is situated on a large plot with mature shrubs, olive fig pine and almond trees. The back veranda was a great place to eat and sit in the evening listening to scips and long earned owls. The large pool was fantastic after a day touring. It is surounded by lovely flowers which attracted a large amount of butterflies. The outdoor furniture is of good quality. The was always somewhere to sit in the sun or shade at all times of the day. There is a well stocked supermarket just a few minutes drive away. The wonderfull town of Ceglie is just a few miles, where the are some fabulous places to eat and wander through the alleys. The property is well situated to visit all the lovely towns of the Itria valley, they are only 20- 40 minutes drive. The beaches can be reached in 20 minutes, Matera is only 1.5hrs drive. If you should see the maintenance and cleaning people they were pleasant and courteous. I would not hesitate to recommend this property if you are looking to book your holiday in this region of Puglia.

We had a fantastic time at Trullo di Giovanna. The property is incredible and beautifully cared for - fig and olive trees and a gorgeous pool. We stayed in a warm July so couldn't get enough of it! House had everything we needed for a family of 2 parents with 2 teenagers - roomy and comfortable. Ceglie Messapica is a jewel of a town - the food is incredible and a lot less touristy than Ostuni (which is super close as well an gorgeous). Host was wonderful and we felt very taken care of. Highly recommended and would happily rebook for a future trip to Puglia (which i can't wait for!).

We stayed in the trullo with our 4 children, aged 1, 6, 9 & 11. It was magical & unique! We loved the pool, which was clean and a fabulous size. The local pam supermarket sold inflatables (as well as almost everything else you could want, including disposables & throw away foil oven trays). We also stocked up on bottles of water as you cannot drink the tap water in the trullo/villa. It was incredibly cheap - 23 cents for a 2 litre bottle. We also bought dried cat food as there are a few cats who visit & our girls thrived on feeding them. There's air conditioning in the villa bedroom & small trullo kitchen. At night we put it on for a while before we went to bed in the villa bedroom & then found keeping the windows open overnight was sufficient. The trullo bedroom didn't have air conditioning but does have a door which can be open during the day to let air circulate. The windows are well equipped with mosquito nets which we always had pulled down. But like any property in a hot country, some did still manage to find their way in.So I'd certainly recommend taking with lots of mosquito repellent & a fly squatter! We hired a car (which is essential) and mainly went out in the late afternoon when it had cooled down. The towns and cities anyway only seemed to come alive at night! We visited Ostuni and took a short tuk tuk tour around the narrow streets which we loved. We also visited Indiana Park (like go ape/aerial extreme) near Castellana grotte, which our girls loved. Polignano a mare,Locotorondo & Monopoli were beautiful. Lecce had fabulous roman ruins. Alberobella, the trulli town,is a must. The only difficulty we found was having a 1.5 year old toddler with us. Jo provided a big comfortable cot which was great. But there are a few steps in the trullo bedroom which we were always worried he'd fall down and the inside walls of trullo were understandably quite coarse, so we were always worried he'd scrape himself or trip and scrape his head! We tried to always keep the trullo bedroom door closed. Also, we needed to keep the kitchen door open for air, but then had to always be watching him in case he ran outside! So maybe it would be more suited to age 3+. Our entire reason for visiting Puglia was to stay in a trulli house and we would certainly recommend it. Jo was v helpful & we really had a great stay. The grounds are massive and we enjoyed picking ripe figs & almonds! The cleaner popped in a few times & we used google translate to communicate!
