About this house rental

Keeper's Cottage is a cosy barn conversion with two bedrooms and is furnished and equipped to a high standard. It is situated on the farm, adjacent to the working farm yard, with views from its balcony over the surrounding countryside and farm yard. Guests are welcome to picnic by the lake (100 metres).

In response to the Corona Virus pandemic we have introduced an intensive cleaning and disinfecting programme in line with WHO guidelines. Linen and towels will continue to be washed at a high temperature and with a 100% effective product. Sanitiser and soap will be available for the use of all guests.

Keeper's Cottage has a dedicated day kennel and a small enclosed front yard. The balcony overlooks the exercise area.

The property was in the middle of farm. Nice property. The owner gave us all the information required before through message and route was also mentioned so precise. Without that it would have been difficult to spot the location. The approach from main road to the property which was a stretch of 2 miles is a single car passage, this alone was tricky but the rest of the stay was amazing.

We loved the welcome pack of wine and Scones and clotted cream TYUpstairs was amazing, kitchen/diner and balcony!Downstairs not so much, Musty. All the bedding and towels felt damp and musty on arrival which made all of our luggage and cloths smell for the entire holiday.We couldn't get to see the lake as we weren't aloud to walk through the farm to access it.Such a shame as the location was amazing for touring Cornwall

Bathroom is not really a bathroom. Owner calls it wet room. Basically shower, toilet and sink all in one. When taking a shower the whole floor gets wet. Sitting on toilet your face touches shower curtain. Mold growing on kitchen walls. Small size but ok. It definitely is in a rural area. A little scary driving.

We have just spent May bank holiday at Grooms cottage-wow what a place. We took our two dogs with us. One is just 14 weeks old, we needed the break after breeding puppies earlier this year.The cottage was safe and secure, just like it said.The property is set in a rural location however you are just a 30 minute… give or take a few drive away from main attractions.This was more beautiful, relaxing than we could have imagined.We hope they will allow us back.Thank you so much, just what we needed.

We stayed at Keepers Cottage for 6 days in early October. The cottage, although very compact, has everything you need, and more. The hosts have really thought of everything when it comes to facilities for your dogs. The secure exercise field was an absolute favourite with Nougat and Sully, our two bull terriers, they were just so excited to go in there each morning, and last thing each day. Its also great having a safe enclosed area outside the front of the cottage for them to do their business. The day kennels, although we didnt use them, are an added bonus. The cottage is situated in a great location, so many dog friendly places to visit, all around 30 minutes drive, some of the roads going out of the property are very narrow but asits Cornwall,its kind of what you expect. We visited a few beaches, the Eden project, and the lost gardens of Heligan and Lanhydrock House and Gardens, all of which are dog friendly and we would highly recommend. Caroline left us a nice bottle of red and some scones,on our arrival, which was a nice surprise and greatfully received. We will definitely be back as this has been a wonderful break for both us and our dogs.

Nice little cottage located at a short driving distance from several touristic places. We enjoyed our stay and it is great if you travel with dogs. We missed a stair gate to make the place a bit safer for babies. Overall,a nice place I would recommend.

The cottage was really lovely, and a wonderful place to stay. We would highly recommend it. We loved being on the farm and my children loved the animals, especially the dogs and horses that would come to say hello. We loved the open plan cottage. The only thing I would mention is that I am not a confident hill driver - coming from Essex - and while I was aware of the steep road from Withiel, I wasn't aware of just how steep and single track it was. However, we found other roads to come in on and leave on and it was absolutely fine, even though it took a little bit longer.

What a lovely, peaceful, relaxing place. This was a perfect break for us - the kids loved being on a farm, meeting the horses and watching out for wildlife, and we loved standing on the balcony looking out at the lush view. But most importantly it was somewhere we genuinely relaxed with the dogs, possibly for the first time on a holiday, so that made it for us. We’re always concerned our two setters will find a gap in the garden fence, and our day trip options are limited, particularly with our nervous dog. But it’s clear that dogs are more than welcome - with the exercise field, the kennels, and a relaxed attitude to them being in the house - so we we’ll most definitely be back! We had a lovely time. It is on a working farm so be prepared for smells and very narrow roads. We had several encounters with tractors on single lane tracks.

Property was nice and small. Didn't like the stairs as we also had a dog that didn't like them either. Log burner was dirty and rug in front of it also. Settee had a broken arm. Dog area was a nightmare and the lake stank. Dog got plastered in mud and I did ask if we could hose the dog off as states there was a hose available and needed to ask. Nothing available, so had to take dog in cottage filthy. Definitely lots of noise as a working farm. Never met the owners and very disappointed with that. Won't be back.

Keepers cottage was lovely. It is absolutely ideal if you have dogs. There is a large enclosed area where your dogs can run plus there are spacious kennels if you need to go out and leave your dogs. We didnt use this as we took our dogs with us but it was great to have this option. The bedroom, toilet, shower room was downstairs and the living room was up the stairs. There was a lovely balcony leading off from the living room where you could enjoy the views, unfortunately we didnt get much use out of this due to the weather not being too good but would be amazing on a nice day/evening. We were visiting the Eden project and this was a perfect location, only a 25 minute drive. I would highly recommend this accommodation. Caroline and John give you your privacy but aren't far away if needed. Thank you so much for all your help with our issues.

This is a beautiful setting and a beautiful building. Sadly as you are aloud to take your pets here some people have not been very respect full and as a result there is lots of dog hair around, such as in between the mattress slats and under the cupboards and sofas. The pots and pans are very warn and need replacing. Overall this would be a super place if it had a little TLC. Please don’t be swayed by my review visit and make your own mind up, we would definitely love to revisit if these things were sorted out. Many thanks for a great stay at a great price.

Upgraded to Bailiff cottage at no extra cost due to owners double booking . So glad they did ! Lovely cottage , very reasonably priced . Good base for us to visit my husband’s family and for them to visit us Liked is so much have booked the last available week in August, so my family can come too.

We had an amazing time. We had a couple of dilemmas which threatened our entire trip, but the owner and the farm owners were more than happy to help us with which we were so grateful for. You are never more than 30 mins from any beach or activity worth doing. Was so nice to go to sleep listening to the owls and waking up to the cows.

The farmhouse was ideal. The people on the farm itself were very friendly. Our dog got on very well with the farm dogs. He had a great time playing with them and exhausted himself! It took us a while to get used to the narrow lanes! All in all a great holiday.

Great base, everywhere we wanted to visit was generally a 30min drive away. Very relaxed place to stay, great dog field for morning and evening runs, lots of birds to watch & listen to. Owner was very helpful, we had a lovely welcome basket and when our TV didn't work properly the very next day it was replaced, nothing was too much trouble for Caroline. Great kennels if you wish to leave your dog there (but we opted to take our dogs with us). Lanivet has a great little pub with delicious food and a very warm welcome. Lots of local doggy friendly beaches (we love Rock, and Porthcothan best). The keepers cottage, is very compact downstairs but it had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable. Upstairs was very well stocked, with sugar, tea bags, fairy liquid, cleaning sponges and tea towels so no need to bring extra from home.. Washing machine was also very handy, and the hairdryer too. Maybe take an extra binliner or 2 for the kitchen. We absolutely loved the peaceful location and room for our kids and dogs to run around freely and safely. Lots of information about the local area and suggested visits is provided by Caroline in a folder (very useful). We will definitely return as we loved every minute. Thankyou.

Great location as off the beaten track so quiet with no road noise and very convenient for lots of beaches around Padstow but also not far from Fowey, Polperro and Looe. This is on a working farm so expect the sound of sheep and tractors and enjoy the beautiful countryside.

Stayed in many rentals over years. We like rural and quiet. Rural it is, quiet mostly. But as advertised its near, very near (outyour window near) to a working farm. So do expect noise. We didnt mind this personally at all. Nor, did we mind the route in and out, some may. Property itself is cosy. Living room really is the kitchen. You could noy call it open plan as small. One of the smaller that we stayed in. But again not a spoiler as we do tend to be out much of the day, as most will. 2 x adults was enough though. With children I would expect it could be quite cramped. Wet room. Is a wetroom. But does the job. Shower weak but does the job. Main bedroom. Quite difficult to move about. Get out of bed and your face is on the wall. But we slept well. Door needs adjusted at bottom as hits floor. Nice views from Balcony which is very nice in the evening. All in all, we have had a great time, and the cottage provided a nice base whilst moving around. Jons fish and chips were amazing. Do try.

Keepers Cottage. A great little place although there was a broken lamp and a loose fitting in the bathroom. Nothing life threatening. Very dog friendly with a spacious dog excercise area with lake, a warm dog wash and dog drying towel. Clean and tidy. Lots of information provided in the cottage to ensure a good stay. Only contact with Caroline (host) was a text letting us know we could arrive early. This holiday let is on a working farm so you may get woken early. We had noisy sheep at 7am each day and an early oil delivery on another. Well located for Eden Project, Padstow and other attractions. Easy 10 minute drive to Wadebridge for essentials. 3.5/5

We really loved the coziness and comfort of this home. It's very well equipped, very secure, and has a lovely wood burner which was fabulous for the cold evenings. We were given an upgrade to the larger groom's cottage, which was so thoughtfully, as was the lovely welcome basket. A real super-feature for us was the brilliant enclosed dog exercise are, which our two pups enjoyed so much. A lot of our real was taken up by a wedding, but we had a fantastic couple of outings too.

We had a fantastic week away with our two sons (aged 8 & 6). The cottage was clean and perfectly equipped for what we needed. It was a really good location for us as we wanted to explore. We did some trekking in Bodmin Moor (the rough tor for a sunset walk and then a day walk to cheesewring and Goliatha falls) and went and explored the northern beaches in particular the seven beaches in the seven bays. We also went to polezeath and had dinner on the way back at Rick steins Cornish arms delicious. The closest beach when we arrived was rock quays and we had a great afternoon there. We also ventured to port Issac one evening and padstow another evening. Great place and great location Caroline was a great host.

The experience was very nice. If you want some peace and quiet, a central location and you have a dog this is perfect. Driving can the narrow lanes in Cornwall can be an ordeal, suggest pip your horn on every bend.

Myself, my partner and our dog Pip stayed in Keepers Cottage for a week. We loved the cottage. It was great being on the working farm seeing the horses, pigs and cows close up. It was great for Pip with an enclosed yard and a secure field he could run free in. We absolutely loved it even though it might feel remote for some. Only a few miles through the lanes to get to the coast so fur is it really worked.,we had a great stay and would book again.
