We recently spent a week at the Larchwood Lodge as a family of 4 adults with our 2 Labradors, and it honestly could not have been a better experience. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with how welcoming, spotless, and beautifully presented the lodge was.The lodge itself is thoughtfully designed, spacious, and very comfortable. The open-plan living and dining area was ideal for relaxing together after a day out exploring the Lake District. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed and the welcome pack that was provided was an excellent tough. Bedrooms were cosy, with plenty of space for unpacking and settling in, and the bathrooms were modern and pristine. It really felt like a home away from home, but with that extra touch of luxury. The location at Dukes Meadow is perfect – quiet and peaceful, surrounded by lovely scenery, yet only a short drive to some of the most beautiful walks and attractions in the Lake District. It was always a joy to come back to the comfort of the lodge afterwards. The hosts had clearly thought about everything guests might need – from the practical details to the little touches that made the stay feel extra special. It was obvious a lot of care goes into keeping the lodge at such a high standard.Larchwood Lodge is an outstanding place to stay with family, friends, or dogs. It’s peaceful, comfortable, and perfectly located for exploring the area. We cannot wait to be back again next year.

We had an amazing stay at this lodge, lodge is beautiful, clean and quality of furniture and fittings were excellent for the price. Location is rural but lovely site, quiet and friendly and we loved venturing out to other parts of the Lake District. We would definitely go here again. Thank you for the lovely welcome

Beautiful area, quiet park, comfortable and modern facilities in the lodge, lots of essentials provided in the lodge which was brilliant. We even saw red squirrels on the feeder. Simply fantastic, thank you for a wonderful stay. Cannot recommend this place enough. The cabin has everything you need and the surrounding area is something else. We never got tired of watching the squirrels feed. The property was spotless and felt welcoming from the second you stepped into the place. It’s situated in an ideal spot to visit the Lakes to the south or Carlisle and Scotland to the North.
The kids are desperate to go back and hopefully we will!

Wonderful chalet in the most peaceful of locations
Wonderful chalet in the most peaceful of locations
A lovely chalet with every provision you could think of. Super clean. Games, puzzles and Netflix made for lovely evenings after long days walking with young children. They loved the bunk beds!
The outside is super special. The back of the chalet leads directly into woodlands and you are visited daily by red squirrels and woodpeckers. The owners thoughtfully left a large stash of nuts so the children could refill the feeders each morning which became a lovely routine.
Oh and arriving to a fridge of treats makes for a wonderful start to a holiday!
Can’t fault it at all. When a relaxing family break is needed - this has to be the place to do it.

Just as amazing the second time!
Me and my partner came to the lodge in September 2020 as a break away so wanted to book it again when the weather was warmer
The lodge was like a home away from home it felt like we had never been away! We spent more time sitting on the deck and watching the world go and watching the sun sets
During the day we did go out (buttermere and rydal water) and we had the most amazing weather for it
We went to the local pub in Greystoke, The boot and shoe, would definitely recommend and it’s only a 10 minute drive down the road

October Get Away
October Get Away
Everything you read on the reviews is accurate. The accommodation is of a very high standard - the kitchen is equipped with everything you might need and we arrived to a spotlessly keen home. The views and location are beautiful - we were able to visit Ullswater, Pooley Bridge, Keswick and Derwentwater all within a 30 min drive... but you could have just watched the red squirrels, rabbits and birds if that is more your thing. Highly recommended.

The lodge was lovely and clean with all the kitchen utensils you could ever dream of. With a very spacious ‘living area’ which consisted of the kitchen, dining room and living room
The amount of wildlife was phenomenal red squirrels galore, along with pheasants, deer and smaller birds
The location is far enough outside of the main towns but close enough to get in within 30 minutes
Would definitely go back

This lodge was perfect for us. We wanted to get away from it all and have some peace and quiet, but also had the option of local pubs and restaurants if we wanted them.
The lodge had everything we needed and more. Eric and Beatrice have thought of EVERYTHING! They have equipped the lodge with quality products and it felt like a home from home. There was even a chilled bottle of wine and a couple of beers in the fridge upon our arrival!!
We loved the daily visits from the Red Squirrels and looking out across the field at the rabbits, cows and sheep. There was wildlife everywhere.
Highly recommend.

We had a fabulous few days away on this well equipped, beautifully furnished, ambient lodge. The views from the decking were a treat to wake up to whilst sipping coffee in the morning. Absolutely fantastic. Would definitely recommend.
Having just stayed for a week in this lodge with my husband, his parents and our dog, it certainly didn't disappoint.
The lodge is amazing; it is immaculately presented, clean and stocked with all the equipment and bits & pieces you could want (seriously, I've never known such a well-stocked lodge as this one). Tescos (as well as other supermarkets) will also deliver groceries directly to the lodge - which is handy).
When we'd seen the mention of local wildlife near the lodge on the listing etc, we honestly thought that we would be very lucky if we saw one or two squirrels or birds. We were, however, happily proved wrong. The lodge was visited very regularly by all sorts of wildlife, including regular visits from red squirrels who came to feast from the feeders on/around the lodge (which the lodge owners kindly leave ample feed for you to be able to restock).
With having the dog with us, it was important to us that the outdoor space was enclosed so that the dog could be safe and secure whilst enjoying some fresh air. It was great, therefore, that the deck was fully fenced and gated, meaning we could all enjoy the outside space together.
Although there are no shops, pubs etc within walking distance, this didn't take anything away from our enjoyment of the lodge, and Penrith and Keswick are just short drives away (approx. 20/25 mins).
The owners of the lodge were really helpful and accommodating and have obviously taken great care and consideration in the presentation and maintenance of the lodge.
I would definitely recommend this lodge without hesitation to anyone looking for somewhere to stay to relax and unwind (or as a base for exploring the Lakes).
