About this cottage rental
Gite du Midi is situated in the Hautes Pyrenees in the beautiful Campan valley. Located at the end of our 200 year old renovated farmhouse it offers accommodation for 2-4 people (2 adults and 2 children. In addition a cot can be provided for a third child). The property sits in 1.5 acres and is surrounded by stunning scenery. The gite has its own private terrace , use of six person hot tub and the above ground timber clad swimming pool (summer months only). We are just over 10 minutes drive from La Mongie , part of the largest ski area in the French Pyrenees and the cable car to the magnificent Pic du Midi Observatory. The area offers a wealth of summer and winter mountain activities - downhill and cross country skiing, cycling the famous Tour de France cols including Tourmalet and Aspin, spectacular walks, VTT, horse riding, fishing, paragliding, golfing, rock climbing and much more. We are two minutes drive from the village of Sainte Marie de Campan with its small but well stocked supermarket, two restaurants and bar, boulangerie & pizzeria.

We last stayed at the Gite 15 years ago, and I am pleased to say Tim and Jane have done a fantastic job as the new owners. The heated pool and hot tub were luxury after some very hot days riding around the local area on our motorbike. The garden is now gated so very secure for the bike.Thank you very much for your hospitality Tim, Jane and Charlie, we loved meeting you all.

Very cosy traditional gite perfect for a couple. Caring hospitable hosts. Spotlessly clean. Loved the hot tub! Very close to La Mongie ski station, and unspoilt pretty Pyrenean villages not far away for shopping and restaurants. We very much enjoyed our stay.

We spent two enjoyable weeks in the Pyrenees and were very well cared for. The garden is just as wonderful as the pool is.
Lots of activities to do nearby which are wonderfully explained by Jane and Tim. The apartment ist well equipped, only the shower is rather small if you’re quite tall :-) If in search for a place that offers a chance to calm down and sooth the soul, it’s a match.

When we arrived, unfortunately the jaccuzzi was not ready. Although it was very cold Tim and Jane told us that they normally do not use the heating system in this time of year. We could use a paraffin heater, but since there was no ventilation we got a big headache.
So we asked them to turn on the central heating. They did but only in the morning between 08.00 and 09.00 and in the evening between 17.00 and 21.00. So around 22.00 it was freezing cold. We had to ask again to turn on the heating system longer because we were cold and wanted to decide for ourselves which time we were going to bed. After three days they got the picture and gave us an electric heater and turned the central heating on much longer. But it was an amazing experience.
Luckily we made a lot of beautiful hikes.
But we will not recommend this gite.
