We were delighted with the spacious interior of this charming rural mansion, conveniently located for anyone interested in visiting the towns of Blaye and Bourg, and the famous towns and wine chateaux of Bordeaux's left and right banks. All three bathrooms have been modernized, and there is a separate WC on the lower level. We appreciated having the use of a large refrigerator and dishwasher, as well. Madame Salban-Ehrhard is quite solicitous and friendly, and her French is very easy for Americans to follow!

Set in the quiet countryside this house was surrounded by nice walks on quiet roads and in a wood. On the other hand Bordeaux was only 40 Km and we visited it by train from Cavingnac Station. A highlight of our visit was the Cite du Vin, although there is so much to see in Bordeaux. There are also wine producers in the vicinity of Buisson, and St. Emilion is only 30 Km away to the south west. The surrounding countryside was particularly beautiful. We also visited the Pair-non-Pair Cave with its prehistoric engravings , and Blaye with its citadel.
Our hosts were very discreet, yet also so kind and helpful. The house itself is spacious and made of stone and stayed cool during a heatwave during our final week. The pool also helped us stay cool. It was possible to sit beside it in dappled shade as well as in the sun. The kitchen was very well equipped. All linens provided were of high quality, and beds and chairs were all comfortable.
