Great choice of private onsen including large spa and open air baths in suite. Private rooms for dinner and breakfast
Sleeping on tatami mats was uncomfortable. Inadequate arrangements for drying wet towels and garments

- Location: Less than five minutes from the train station (Kurobe Gorge railway & normal JR) - Amenities: The largest onsen I’ve ever seen. Massive indoor onsen, and then five outdoor onsens arranged like rice paddies with a beautiful view of Kurobe Gorge - Room: Nice rooms, with tatami flooring but western beds - Meals: Free, all you can eat breakfast and dinner. Incredibly wide range of selections, including regional specialties. Everything from ramen, tempura, and sashimi to pasta and fries available.

The Japanese style room we stayed in was remarkably large for Japan standards. Both the buffet breakfast and dinner were superb, in particular the evening meal with top quality sushi and fish. The hotel suffered a power outage on the day we arrived, but thankfully they set up a generator and everything returned to normal. To our surprise in compensation we were offered free drinks set for our two dinners. A very nice detail by the hotel management.
The onsen village itself and the scenic train highly overrated. I cant truly recommend either
