A truly special place in the Swedish countryside We absolutely loved our stay in the Swedish Stone Barn at Gåvetorps Gård. It is a genuinely exceptional conversion of an old stone barn, retaining all of the character of the historic building while creating a beautiful, comfortable and contemporary place to stay. The conservation and design have been incredibly well thought out. The original stone walls work beautifully with the extensive pine-clad ceilings and upper walls, while the polished concrete floor in the main open-to-the-roof living space gives the interior a wonderfully simple Scandinavian feel. The modern kitchen and log burner sit very comfortably within the historic building rather than competing with it. It is one of those rare conversions where old and new genuinely complement each other. The setting is every bit as special as the barn itself. You are surrounded by beautiful Swedish forest, with wonderful wildlife quite literally on the doorstep. We spent a lot of time simply sitting outside on the huge terrace, enjoying the peace, sunshine and surrounding woodland. The outdoor firepit was brilliant too and made for some lovely family evenings. There is also so much to do from the doorstep. We had fantastic walks straight out into the forest, explored the nearby lakes and enjoyed some brilliant cycling both through the woods and around the lakes. One of the highlights was cycling from the barn to the wonderful Härlövs Skafferi in nearby Härlöv for fantastic food. Being able to set off from the barn by bike, ride through the beautiful Swedish countryside and end up at such a lovely local restaurant was a real treat. The barn also makes an excellent base for exploring the wider area, including Huseby and the beautiful lakes and forests of Småland. We spent several days exploring nearby Åsnen National Park. The lakes and forests there were incredible and well worth a visit.

Die Unterkunft war traumhaft, die Lage am See wunderschön und es hatte sogar ein Ruderboot, das wir benutzen konnten. Vilhelm war extrem freundlich und hat uns super Tipps gegeben für Ausflüge in der Nähe.

Just nice place

The house is old and could be used nice, but.. Our room was in second floor, in the rooms lights are too dusty and are on same age as grandmother who has died in :) The room doesn’t have any terrace, train goes every 15 min. The price it really high evaluating that you should have your own linens and make final cleaning…
