Casa della Scrittrice (The House of the Writer) is situated just a few kilometres from Ostuni, nestled in a peaceful olive grove.
As part of our Bed and Breakfast, 'La Pineta' offers an intimate space for those guests who would prefer a little more privacy.
La Pineta is a stylish studio with its own private entrance.
A large airy room with a comfortable double bed and a spacious sitting area to sit and relax, there is aldo a separate kitchenette and a generous shower room.
Outside is a private sun filled terrace with a table and chairs. Steps lead up to a secluded private garden area with views down through the olive grove to the 'Pineta' - a large group of pine trees.
The rooms is beautifully appointed with a mix of carefully chosen antiques mixed up with contemporary pieces, the kitchenette has everything you need to enjoy the wonderful local produce that is readily available all year round. On arrival you will find a 'Welcome Basket' as well as general kitchen essentials, so you can just relax and enjoy yourself straight away.
There is a large salt water pool which is shared with our other guests staying in the Bed and Breakfast at Casa della Scrittrice, as there are only two B&B rooms the setting always remains quiet and intimate.
David and Francesco, your hosts, are on hand should you need any help or advice during your stay from ideas on days out or which great restaurant you should chose for lunch or dinner.
Casa della Scrittrice is situated in the countryside between Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica and is ideally placed to explore the whole of Puglia and even on into Basilicata.
The house is set in almost two acres of olive grove and is surrounded by a garden filled with native shrubs and flowers, the salt water pool with its sun drenched terrace offers views out across the valley to further olive groves and scattered Trulli.
We provide all linens, including pool/beach towels, La Pineta will be cleaned and linens changed weekly to offer you more privacy during your stay. Fresh linens or extra cleaning are available for a small fee.

David and Fran are the perfect hosts giving you as much or as little interaction as you wish. Their home is wonderful. We stayed in the self catering apartment and found everything we needed there. It has its own entrance and patio space so you have your own privacy. The pool is shared and can be used whenever you like. We’ve had lots of lazy days at the pool and we’ve had it all to ourselves or chilled out with other guests and enjoyed their company. Their garden is so peaceful it is a pleasure to relax there and swim or read a book. David and Fran are very helpful with booking restaurants, giving travel advice, directions - you name it! We’ve enjoyed our time there so much we’ve been back again! And that’s the best recommendation we can give!! Xx

Where to start? We had a good feeling about this place from the moment we heard that there would be a welcome pack awaiting after our journey. It got the holiday off to the right start to arrive to a fresh pasta supper with tomatoes from the garden and enough food to see us through the first 24 hours - wonderful. We were able to start relaxing, enjoy the beautiful private terrace and take a swim in the fantastic pool before heading into Ostuni.
The apartment was perfect - spotless, comfortable, stylish and well-equipped. We really appreciated the effective mosquito netting, plug-in deterrent etc. There was a really good fan but most of the time we were beautifully cool behind the shutters. The bed was super-comfortable.
As well as having use of the pool and lovely area around it, our own secluded terrace was idyllic. We loved eating outside, sheltered from the sun, amid pot plants, ornamental glass jars and cushions, surrounded by lavender, olive trees and the cacti that are everywhere in the landscape.
Villa Scriticce is about ten minutes from Ostuni - great market and wonderful restaurants. We also loved nearby towns Cisternino, Martina Franco and Locorotundo. We were so glad we decided to visit Lecce (only an hour by car) - truly a beautiful city.
We should also praise the excellent directions as the villa is tucked away well off the main road.
David and Francesco were so welcoming and friendly. Whilst being able to do our own thing completely, at the same time it was great to chat with them and find out local places to visit. They have created a very special place to stay. We hope to return one day. Thank you!

David & Fran’s Trullo home is a magical place to stay in the middle of an olive grove. There are so many treasures to feast your eyes on every where you look. The stylish boutique hotel standard rooms are cool despite the heat outside. They are beautifully decorated & on this visit we had a small kitchenette which had everything we needed & gave us a bit more freedom & choice. The pool is a gorgeous place to sit or swim & very welcoming after a day of sightseeing.
David & Fran are a wealth of local knowledge & are great company & hosts.
All in all, it was an absolute pleasure.
