Truong Huy Homestay

One of the best homestays I’ve stayed at. The location is perfect: close to everything in the Mai Chau area, yet quiet and peaceful with a beautiful view. The dorm is spacious, and the curtains give you a lot of privacy. There are mosquito nets and ceiling fans, so you can sleep comfortably even in the heat. I originally booked just one night but ended up staying four. On my first evening, I was the only guest, and the owners invited me to join them for dinner and try their homemade wine (“happy water”), which is typical in the region. The food was delicious and very local, and the whole experience felt warm and authentic. A place where you immediately feel welcome. Definitely recommend staying here if you’re visiting Mai Chau.

The homestay was in a beautiful area in Mai Chau, a bit further away from the main towns and the tourist attractions. The view from the restaurant was amazing! The mattress was very comfortable and there were more than enough blankets. The curtains provided a good feeling of privacy, and the mosquito net prevented bugs from entering the bed space. The shower had hot water and decent water pressure and the bathroom itself was very clean. The food was delicious and not too expensive, and the complimentary breakfast was lovely. There were also free bike rentals to take around the area; the bikes weren't the best quality but they were good enough for the day. I will say check the brakes on your bike before you go, as the inclines and declines can be pretty steep and you need good control over your speed. The staff was friendly as well, though their English wasn't great, but they were always happy to help and you can always use Google translate. I had the whole 8 person dorm to myself which was a nice bonus :)

The room itself wasn't as clean, there were spiderwebs all around the corners which was a bit uncomfortable. There were also a couple of times where the owner made some comments about the amount of food I ordered which made me a bit uncomfortable, though it was clear he meant well.

Truong and all the staff were such lovely, friendly people. They helped us plan activities in Mai Chai and we rented bikes from them. The room was spacious and clean, and the view is sublime.
