Almost perfect

The hotel is just 10 mins of walk from the station, but it's relatively flat to walk. The hotel is right next to a stream and 5 mins away from the city center. Very conveniently located. My room was quite large with a big comfy bed. It had 2 big windows and was brightly lit and at night I could easily darken with rolling blinds.The room had a big desk, 2 chairs, one coffee kitchen and a small dining niche. There was ample storage space as well. I travelled during winter and the heater was good enough to keep the room warm and toasty. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast had so much variety. Really a hearty breakfast. The bathroom was well equipped, had everything one would need. I definitely would recommend this place for up to a week long stay.

The breakfast room was a bit too packed. I had to take my breakfast at the reception. Other than that it was great.

A bijou hotel!

We chose this hotel for the proximity to the Christmas market and we were not disappointed. Our room was superb, large with good furniture and space; beds were comfy and we slept really well. The bathroom was modern with great fittings. There was even a bar fridge if needed. Breakfast was superb and the staff is so nice! There was a full parking lot but the hotel receptionist found us space, she was lovely and soooo welcoming. We will certainly return.

Very good value, modern rooms with great location and kind staff

Gorgeous rooms with very kind staff at check in! Great value for money and only 3-5 minute walk into the city. Very comfy beds and all the necessities (including mini fridge)! Allowed an early check in and was so helpful!

Quiet, pleasant hotel in a quaint village

The room was a nice size, the beds were comfortable, breakfast was decent, and the location was perfect. Easy to find parking on the property on a weeknight. Staff were very friendly, and it was nice and quiet at night. All in all a lovely stay!

A perfect place to stay in beautiful Gengenbach!

Great location in beautiful Gengenbach! Just a short walk to the center of old town. Room was clean and spacious - we stayed in the junior suite. Every staff member we interacted with was welcoming and very accommodating.

The location is superb! I was welcomed by a very professional hospitable receptionist - very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very satisfying! A lot of choices and very good quality. The service staff again very very welcoming and warm. Overall very pleasant experience and I shall stay there again. A big thank you to all staff ♥️

Room & shower - outdated. Due to high ceilings reaching cobwebs seem difficult nevertheless should be taken care of. The shutters are on a timer - i put them back up but they came back down again in the middle of the night. Cleaning staff knocking at 8:30 :/

Great service today very good facility

The hostess was extremely friendly and helpful. She fixed us breakfast an hour before the normal time so that we can make our flight to Frankfurt. Their homes are exceptionally clean, modern and comfortable.

It was close to the center, spacious room, breakfast was fine

There was someone early morning (around 5 am in the morning) making call with the speaker on and it was all the time ringing and ringing and it kept us awake. Not sure if it was a customer from the hotel but that was pretty annoying.

super lovely hotel and beautiful Black Forest city Gengenbach!

Nice to be back after 10 years to re-visit here ^_^. The hotel Pfeffermuehle is located close to Gengenbach train station, by walking distance of ca. 10 min.. From the warm welcome at reception to the spotless room, and delicious Germany style breakfast, every moment staying here will be turning into the memory that we will cherish. Now, back to home with full of energy! - from Room 6, July-12-2025.

Clean, comfortable hotel on a quiet street near the old town—perfect for a one-day visit to Gengenbach.

Good location at edge of old town, with easy parking, comfortable bed, and a very nice breakfast buffet. Staff were very friendly.

Superb

There was a nice selection of things for breakfast, and an egg cooked to order was offered. There is a lovely common area on the 2nd level of the building, nice place to just sit and relax. The staff were very helpful in providing directions for the use of the elevator - a little quirky, but explained very clearly

In room 5 (and maybe in others) there is a metal strip at the threshold of the bathroom that sticks up above the level of the floors in the bedroom and the bathroom. It is a painful to step on, so one has to be careful not to step on it when entering or exiting the bathroom.

Loved the hotel:- modern, clean and friendly.

Room comfort was great and wee balcony situation lovely. Receptionist very helpful and Gengenbach a very pretty town. there is a lovely scenic walk up the hill beside the hotel.

The only fault I could find was the absence of a corkscrew (and no night staff when we discovered this) so missed enjoying our wine on the balcony ....... but the mini-bar prices were very reasonable indeed!

Very large room. We have been upgraded. Large and very comfortable beds.

We arrived late after having duly notified the owner. The reception was closed and we had to ring to get verbal instructions (code) on how to get the key. The parlophone was not properly functioning so it was a bit stressful. They promised to check the device. During the night some guests installed themselves in armchairs in the small lobby facing our room and had a noisy chat. We had to get up to stop them talking that loud.

A cute hotel close to train station and a short walk to the town center. The bedrooms were clean and spacious, and the free breakfast was delicious. The staff were very kind and helpful, special thank you to Christy for helping us during our stay. Will definitely stay again if visiting.

Peaceful stay in a picturesque town

1. Peaceful and quiet 2. Staff are friendly, helpful, warm and accommodating 3. I arrived Genenbach late, after 9pm. As i could not pull my luggages on cobblestones paved roads, the hotel offers Simon to pick me up at the station. When checking out, Christy also sent me to the station with her car. I was grateful for their great help indeed. 4. Wifi speed is fast, even sending whatapps video files. 5. Enjoyed my breakfast in their backyard. 6. Great value with money
