Scots House Hotel

I loved the wonderful welcoming atmosphere in this beautiful hotel and the great service of the staff

Everything went well. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The view was magnificent and the grounds of the hotel were truly magnificent.

It would have been nice to have a fridge in the room

The hotel (owned by the Scottish church) is magnificent and resembles a castle. Driving up to the parking area (free!) you pass by lovely flowers and a well-groomed garden. Our room was on the main floor, and so we had no issues with the hotel not having an elevator. It was quiet, immaculately clean, and tastefully decorated. The vegetarian breakfast buffet was delicious. Many salads, tuna, avocado , shakshuka, scrambled eggs, fresh veggies, bread, rolls, cheeses, butter....carrot cake, halva, coffee, tea, juices....and more. Tony from reception is a real gentleman and made us feel very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.

The positives clearly outweighed the negative... The bed was a bit too firm for me. My husband was comfy. The shower was without a shower curtain or a glass enclosure. My understanding is that only rooms on the ground floor are without.

The hotel is located in a historic building. The architecture is beautiful, and the public areas (including the garden) are stunning, creating an atmosphere that feels like being abroad. Breakfast is good and offers a nice selection.

The room itself is not modern, but it is kept in reasonable condition. The bathroom has clearly been renovated in recent years and feels more up to date. However, the main issue was the mattress – it was so hard that at times it felt like sleeping on a box spring without a mattress. This made it difficult to get a comfortable night’s sleep. Another downside was that the hotel did not provide even a single bottle of water in the room. The minibar was empty, there was nowhere in the hotel to purchase drinks, and the tap water had an unpleasant taste. For a hotel of this standard, it is reasonable to expect at least one complimentary bottle of water upon check-in.
