About this villa rental

Trullo della Scrittrice is nestled in an acre of olive and fruit trees within ten minutes of Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica - Ideal for a family or two couples, but not too big for a couple looking for a bit more space.

The Trullo consists of a spacious air-conditioned living room with a well equipped open plan kitchen with two bedrooms and a spacious shower room. The airy Trullo bedroom with its king sized bed is situated in the oldest part of the property beneath the ancient trullo cones. They say sleeping here is a magical experience like being back in the womb, the Lamia bedroom provides two more beds, making the property ideal for a family or friends sharing.

Across the sun drenched terrace is the 11x5 meter saltwater pool. The perfect spot to soak up the sun or take a swim. If that's all too much why not take a book or listen to a podcast under the shady poolside gazebo.

To take away any of the stress from your arrival we provide all your linens and towels and offer a 'Welcome Basket' of local treats, plus all the essentials to get you started - so you can just unwind and relax straight away. If you can drag yourself away from this idyllic spot there are ancient towns, blue flag beaches and WWF nature reserves to explore all less than half an hour away. We have you covered with a comprehensive list of the local sites, restaurants and shops - so you don't even need to do any research!

If you'd like to try some delicious Pugliese food, cooked for you at Trullo della Scrittrice by TV chef and food writer Sophie Grigson contact her on [email protected] - and do mention your staying with us at Trullo della Scrittrice - but do book early to avoid disappointment!

We had a wonderful two weeks at the trullo! Absolutely beautiful with fantastic grounds and pool. The trullo is situated perfectly for access to Ostuni and the coast, as well as Ceglie and other surrounding towns. David and Francesco were extremely helpful, and it’s difficult to imagine a better place to stay in Puglia!

David & Fran communicated promptly during booking process. The welcome pack was nothing like we have seen before. The property and surrounding spaces oozed style and flair. Great location to have peace but 30 minutes max away from many amazing towns.

Our hosts David and Francesco were very warm and welcoming, and made it easy to settle in quickly. Any small snags were sorted out immediately, as they live next door to the property. The trullo is stylishly presented with a charming mixture of comfortable modern design and rustic antiques, all set in a pretty garden in an olive grove. The salt water swimming pool is truly wonderful, and meticulously maintained. The trullo is in a peaceful location surrounded by a number of similar former farms and holiday properties. The nearest shops, markets and restaurants are in Ostuni, about 15 minutes drive away. The town has a historic walled centre set on the hilltop, full of character with pretty twisty lanes, baroque churches and public squares with small restaurants and shops. It can be "touristy" but look a little harder and there are side streets and hidden corners where you can eat delicious and reasonably priced local food and wine. The town is very typical of many others in the region - Martina Franca, Locorotondo, Cisternina, Lecce and many others, all within an hour or two's drive. The nearest Adriatic coast is only 30 minutes away. The beaches are small and crowded, but there are good seafood restaurants. Overall, we loved our holiday in Puglia, and Trullo della Scrittice was a charming, comfortable and peaceful base for our daily expeditions out to explore the region, and then home to relax by the pool afterwards. Well done and thank you David and Francesco!
