This is in a truly wonderful rural location. It is located about 2km from the tarmac road and you need to drive down a narrow , sometimes steep, dirt road to get to the property. The views from the hotel are fabulous. The staff were all very friendly and the dinner we had was great. There is absolutely nothing else around without driving back to the main road. The gardens were well maintained and there were various different areas to sit and relax. There are a couple of very friendly border collies that wander around and want to play and we also saw lots of cats around too. It's a very relaxed location.

We really hoped that the night sky would be amazing at this place. It is a very isolated mountain location but unfortunately the owners have decided that garden lighting and flood lights all around are better than the night sky so we could almost have been in a city centre for the amount of electric lights burning after sunset. Our other problem was all through night and day probably too, there was a low level mechanical 'hum' from some kind of machine. In the quiet of the night it was very obvious. Every 30 seconds or so it kicked in and emmitted a deep low frequency noise. Once you start to hear it, you can't unhear it and it was actually quite disturbing during the night. We didn't sleep well which was a real surprise in such a rural location that you'd expect would be wonderfully quiet. We also experienced an unpleasant drain smell in our bathroom. (Room Violetta) When we arrived it wasn't noticeable but after flushing the toilet the smell just hung there. Perhaps they are using 'grey' water to flush the toilets but whatever it is , it wasn't a nice smell to have in the room. A word of warning: In wet weather the road to and from this hotel could be difficult for a normal car or for a less experienced driver. I'd certainly not recmmend this for any kind of car with limited ground clearance. We had dry weather but after driving in and back out, our car looked like it had competed in the Paris Dakar rally. The dust was absolutely everywhere. First stop for us afrer leaving was a car wash. In the wet it would be very slippery and muddy.
