We were very glad of the air conditioning and also enjoyed sitting out on the balcony in the evening.⁷
As we were there at the end of the Italian summer season there were fewer opportunities to eat out locally. We had also hoped to spread our visit to the archaeological sites over several days, due to the heat. This wasn't possible.
