Casa Levante

The location was very nice, a short walk to everything in the small town, with a beautiful view from the balcony over a wild garden and the hill with the old castle. The two bathrooms are newly made, and absolutely nice. The manager of the location and his wife were kind and helpful. The AC worked very well, as did almost all other installations (the gas for the stove had to be fixed). The windows and blinds worked well, essential in Sicily. The dishwasher was only OK. All walls were very clean, the beds and covers very clean. We had moderate temperatures (up to 28°C and nice winds), but I am sure that the apartment will be cool with the AC during summer.

For an apartment at this price point we expected a really complete offering, and I was hoping for a tiny bit luxury, which we had only in the baths, and the generous space of the apartment. I was the one voting for this apartment, and I was disappointed, and also had to suffer the comments of my dearest. All furniture is pretty outdated, the chairs are really uncomfortable, some broken and painful to sit on. The kitchen had 7 of them, and they all belong in the trash. I would also like to have a comfortable place to watch some TV, not from the kitchen table. Next time I will make sure there is a sofa. The cupboards and cabinets were smelly, but clean. The kitchen furniture was OK. The lamps were simple, but working. When cleaning the table (plastic cover, as usual in Italy), the sponge was really dirty. The cutlery and pots were clean, but the non-sticking pan is sticky as hell, and should be replaced for health reasons. I may be fussy, but I also like the lid of the pots to fit. There could have been more pots, since we cooked daily. A sharp small knife would also have been nice, as would have been a tea pot and a tea strainer. From my previous stays in Italy I already knew that the sharp knife may be an issue, so I brought one. We were probably the first customers this season, so there was no salt, oil, spices, sponges or cleaning cloths. Buying them the first thing before unpacking was really annoying. We have seen much more for much less in other locations. On another thing: We both got stung by jellyfish, which may be found depending on the wind direction. But the water is the best, and in some places snorkeling is great.
