The villa is in an excellent location within a ten minute walk of the beach and all the restaurants. Haraki is absolutely lovely with all the things you want from a beach village - swimming, snorkelling, boat trips, shops, Sun loungers, ice creams, etc. It’s easy access in the car to the main coast road so getting to all the ‘must see’ places is straightforward enough. We arrived late (plane delayed) and the Taverna opposite very kindly stayed open so we could have a meal (generous helpings for 3 people plus drinks for 50 Euros 👍) The little shop next door to the Taverna has the basics if you run out. Standing with a beer tending the BBQ is a very pleasant way to spend your time, there is very little traffic so you can hear all the birds singing across the plain. The villa has air conditioning which worked and was effective in keeping things cool. The kitchen appliances all worked fine and the fridge freezer is big. The garden is reasonably spacious so you can always find somewhere with some shade (me) or sun (the rest of the family).

There were a few surprises: We hadn’t realised that the pool was shared between three other villas (we had filtered ‘private pool’ on Booking.com) but maybe we didn’t check carefully enough. The pool is located right next to one of the other villas eating areas, so it’s a bit weird to be swimming when somebody is eating their dinner a metre away. The internet is very poor (typically 0.5 to 3Mbs) so the TV cannot stream anything. I managed to use the TV on two occasions, but no more (unless you want terrestrial Greek TV). I raised this with the host and was assured that the Technician had been told. Nothing was done though. The wardrobe door in the upstairs bedroom was jammed shut so we could only use half of it. I also raised this with the host but nothing was done (except to turn up at the villa without a key when we were out). There is a parking space outside the villa but we were told not to use it, I wasn’t told why, so we parked on the rubble area outside. That was ok, but not if all the villas were occupied. We found that the hot water ran out after just a couple of minutes in the shower - fine if it is very hot weather, but I asked if we could have more. The solution I was told is to open the electrical distribution board and switch the immersion on half an hour before you want hot water. It’s the same with the kitchen; if you want to use the cooker you have to open another distribution board and switch it on. I don’t understand why there isn’t an information sheet telling you all of this - that would have avoided a lot of messages and confusion. We were a family of four and there was just enough of everything to go around - glasses, seating etc. six people would have been a real squeeze. This villa is in a great location but is let down by lots of little details.
