I would like if they charged a little extra when booking and avoid bugging people on sun loungers to pay 10 euros to rent them for the day. It really took away from the luxury feeling. The lunch that was all inclusive was very very limited and not on par with other hotels of the same star and standard. No luxury feeling with only soup and salad.

You need to put curtains to the windows. Especially on the lower floors. The room is great and the hotel wonderful but you really need to put curtains so that you can change and also have sunlight

Staff was very helpful with explaining amenities and how to get around the island. Upon check-in, reception desk showed us all the times for shuttles and boat taxis to help with travel.

Great stay, highly recommend.

We spent 8 nights in Hotel Places by Valamar in Stari Grad. Everything was great: - Perfect location (really close to sea, close to old town and restaurants but far from crowds so you can relax easily), - Perfect weather (2nd half of September). - Clean rooms with TV, AC (we slept in smallest room and maybe for some people it might be too small but we knew it before we arrive. Keep that in mind that it is not NY 5* Hilton Hotel but Hotel Staff works really hard every day to make you stay as comfortable as possible - keep up good work), - Very clean hotel area, pool area, sea area etc. - Nice free activities during our stay (yoga, aqua fitness, etc.) - Food as FlexiBoard option was superb. If you want to eat somewhere else you can do it and your daily money go to next day so you don't loose your money but spent it on different day. Overall - great stay! Highly recommend.

I was missing only one thing - evening music activities for dancing. I personally love to dance and I hoped for maybe at least one dance event but unfortunatelly in whole town there were no such event. Nice add-on to have in future since there is lots of young guests (40 is still young!) :)

Nice place and we had a nice stay. If you like resorts, it was a nice one with great breakfast.

The breakfast was wonderful, and being able to go play basketball or go swim. Lots to do at a resort.

The jacuzzi's were quite small and dirty each time we wanted to sit in one.

10/10 recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Hvar

The resort is beautiful and the location is great. We enjoyed the slow, lovely pace of Strari Grad more than Hvar town, which was more touristy. The half board gave us the flexibility for daily meals. The staff was able to arrange excursions for us, help us rent e-bikes, suggest places to visit. We really enjoyed the stay and would love to come back again.

This is really nitpicking but there could be a little variation in the meals + options for desserts

Good location, very good breakfast, nice location

The location was great and the taxi boat to Stari Grad was so easy. The staff were very helpful and the boat trip from the pier to the Blue cave was lovely. There’s also a little beach just a bit further up from the beach bar that was lovely to swim in. The breakfast was very good, loads of options and served from 7-11

The food options outside of breakfast weren’t great but I ate in Stari Grad most evenings. The dj was ok but the live music wasn’t for me!

Best PLACE to stay in Hvar

The minute I walked in I thought… yep this was a good booking choice. The food at the restaurant is amazing, honestly best breakfast I’ve had in my life! Everything was fresh, local and delicious. Free soup and salad for lunch and the dinner was perfect but rather expensive. The staff were very nice and welcoming; We checked out in the morning but our flight was at night, but they just let us store the luggage with them and use their facilities all day long even after checkout. Really good entertainment, location (5 minutes from the stari grad port by car, amazing view) and holiday vibe defineltey recommend!

It was rather expensive but hvar island in general is expensive, and you get what you pay for. Treat yourself….

Lovely hotel and nice relaxed vibe close to a beautiful town. I would have liked more choice of health and fitness class

Good location, lovely pool and lots of areas to sunbathe and relax. Breakfast was great with lots of choice. Liked the wrist band system and flexibility to spend on drinks or food.

Despite signs on sunbeds saying there was no reserving of beds when we got up at 9am there were no sunbeds available - most were reserved with towels and when I complained to the staff they said they’d tried but people did it anyway. I feel like if someone just walked around removing towels from beds when people were clearly not using them it would be quite simple to control.

Amazing hotel for people who want to enjoy a quiet holiday

This is an excellent hotel that we enjoyed every day of our stay. It really was above our expectations. It is located at the end of the town, 10-15 minutes on foot. The are is very quiet and enjoyable for sleep (aside a club on the other side across the water, but it worked only a couple of days and the music didn't bother us much). We took M room size which was enough, but we could use a bigger bathroom. Everything in the room seems renovated. The breakfast was amazing, one of the best I ever experienced. The food was of top-notch quality, really everything was super tasty. You can come as many times as you want between 7am and 11am and most people do it. The rest of the food offered was good, but nothing special. There isn't much choice, although they did introduce or remove some meal over the day. The beach and pool facilities were also excellent. The sunbeds were free around the pool and in the natural shade under big trees. We enjoyed this very very much. If you want to lay at the beach, it costs 20 euros per day for two sunbeds and an umbrella. There is place to rent SUP, kayak, bikes... A taxi boat stops just nearby and you can take it to reach the town center. Whatever you do, you will for sure enjoy the pine forest! Big parking just next to the hotel with plenty of space.

They seemed to have removed some benefits such as soups and water during the day which were completely free just the day before we arrived. They did mention that at the reception that we would have soups, but actually we didn't. There are no grocery shops nearby.

Good but could be great if service improved.

Lovely rooms and pool area. Great choice for breakfast. Relaxed atmosphere. 15-minute walk to Stari Grad. Half board option (€25 per person per day) could be spent on food and drinks at any time of the day. I would recommend using your allowance for snacks and drinks and having dinner in the town as there are lovely restaurants there.

Staff were surly and inattentive. Often it felt as though we were an inconvenience when checking out/ordering drinks at the bar. This was surprising as staff in all the shops and restaurants we have visited in Croatia have always been so helpful and cheerful. The attitude of the staff lets this hotel down as otherwise it would be amazing.

Relaxing stay by the beach

- The 25€ / day to spend in the hotel was a big plus in order to enjoy some drinks, food, etc. - The hotel facilities are well maintained and nice, especially the area around the beach - They are equipped with an outdoor gym - They have a lot of staff to help you around - Each room has a balcony which is a big plus - The taxi boat to go to the city is a very convenient

- The rooms are very small and the bathroom could be nicer - You have to pay 2€ to change the beach towels - while I understand this is for a sustainability reason, as a guest it does not feel very nice - The beach beds are to be paid as well (10€ for the day) but the ones around the pool are free - Prices for taxi and other activities are very high as well - The breakfast has a huge choice category, however I would prefer more quality over quantity / choice

The staff was nice.

The pictures make the place look way bigger than it actually is. The “sea view” rooms are not really sea view cause you can’t actually see the sea, just a snippet of it mixed with some villas that they build in the ground floor and random amenities. Talking about amenities, they are super run down. Oh and don’t get me started at the “food buffet”, which was just some white rice and watered down soup… The breakfast buffet was alright tho.

Good facilities, not so good service.

The location and on-site facilities are excellent. We particularly enjoyed a really nice massage, and the daily program of activities sounded fantastic, adding significant value to the stay. The water taxi to town was a brilliant amenity, offering a convenient and pleasant way to end the day. The restaurant food was consistently good and reasonably priced, which we appreciated. Our room (size M) was spacious, and the shower was particularly nice. We also found plenty of parking and appreciated the convenience of town center amenities.

Service & Human Interaction While all staff members were polite, we found interactions to be generally distant and impersonal. For example, at breakfast on our first morning, we waited, standing in the middle of the room, for guidance on the process but no staff helped us, so eventually seating ourselves. We had also informed the hotel in advance that we were celebrating a special anniversary, yet no acknowledgment or special effort was made to mark the occasion. The reliance on the app for most services seemed to discourage human interaction, which ultimately wasn't suited to our preferences. Room & Facilities Upon entering our room, the presence of earplugs and condoms suggested a more "hip and trendy" atmosphere, which we realized might be better suited to a younger demographic. We also encountered a significant issue with a broken lift, making our 4th-floor room a considerable barrier with no alternative solutions offered by reception, even after we complained. Room facilities were basic, and a kettle was not provided, even after we requested one. External Services & Noise The boat trip recommended by the hotel was unfortunately very disappointing, and we found no clear channel to provide this feedback to the hotel directly. The one we booked ourselves via Booking.com was actually very good and highly recommended. Furthermore, on three separate nights during our stay, there were loud pool parties with screaming guests around 2 AM. Not the hotel's fault if people misbehave but they could have stopped it. Without a room telephone and facing four flights of stairs, we chose not to complain at the time, but this significantly disrupted our sleep. You have to pay to have a lounge on the beach and the ones by the pool get booked up by 10am so one day we ended up on the concrete floor by the sea. We hope this feedback is helpful for their future improvements.

A lovely hotel in a great location - small annoyances that would be easily fixed by management.

The hotel was presented beautifully and the breakfast was 10 out of 10 - probably the best I have had anywhere (and I have travelled a lot) - omelettes were great, as was the fruit for juicing and the cake (we didn't try the prosecco, but it was there if you wanted it). The location was perfect for us and the staff are friendly and helpful. We really liked the flexi credit concept as this covered our food and drinks during the day but left us free to eat in Stari Grad in the evening (which we got to via the water taxi that went from outside the hotel which was perfect)

The room was on the small side even though I booked a medium one. The bigger issue was the cleaning which was superficial to put it generously - I think it basically consisted of sweeping the floors and changing the towels (and presumably a wipe over of the sink and toilet) but not much more. I would have expected it to have been more thorough and the beds made each day (we stayed for a week). Also one of the transfers we booked was taken by someone else - I would suggest staff are ask guests to provide their room number to confirm the booking, rather than asking if the passengers are "x" room, as in this case they were not ! That said the staff were apologetic and did remove the charge and compensate us. I also do not see the logic of charging for the sunbeds by the water - although we didn't want to use them as there were enough in the pool area.

Great resort!

Places is located in Stari Grad, which is on the quieter side of the island of Hvar. The resort is very nice. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Although our bedroom wasn’t large, it was well played out, was clean, bedding was great and bed very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed hanging out by the pool, listening to cool music, and walking along the water into the town of Stari Grad. Would highly recommend for groups and families. The half board option was great value. The resort is close to the Stari Grad ferry port, not to be confused with the ferry port in Hvar! Beautiful sunsets by the water.

Amazing week away

We could not have enjoyed our stay in Stari Grad more if we tried. At first I was a little spectacle as I was worried there would not be enough to do away from Hvar. I was very wrong. Stari Grad town is extremely pretty and we loved exploring the little streets during the day. In the evening we were spoilt for choice on where to eat. I can highly recommend Blue Doors, the service was impeccable however you must have a reservation to avoid being disappointed. The hotel was brilliant and having such a large complex meant no area ever felt too busy/overcrowded. We loved the credit system and had complete control over when and how we spent this money! We booked five shuttles during our stay through the Places App, all hotels should have this service!

There was nothing not to like !! If you are looking for a more lively holiday, Hvar is the town for you. Stari Grad was perfect for couples and families.

The location, the layout of the resort, the food and beverage offering and the staff were all very good. It was very comfortable and also enjoyable, given that the resort has a modern touch.

As in many resorts, there is a rush in the early morning of guests "claiming" the sun beds. So, if you are particular about sun beds and/or location by the pool, wake up early.

The ambience created by the different terraces from the pool to the beach, shaded by pine trees. Rooms were in a calmer area which was nice. AC was perfect. The meals were really top quality and reasonably priced

They were in construction just below our apartment but it was properly fenced so as to occlude the ugly view We couldn’t use our half board credit for lunch because at noon our bracelets got reseted for the next day
