The cottage is an incredible experience!

It was even better that we could have hoped. The host was so lovely. We paid to have breakfast at the restaurant both mornings and it was so worth it. Amazing spread definitely our best breakfast of our whole trip. The bed was really comfy and warm. The bath was exceptional. The whole town and house was a really great vibe, welcoming and so picturesque.

The apartment was centrally located. It had a lovely balcony and it was in a lovely old traditional building within the ramparts.

We messaged the landlady through Booking when on our way. Upon arrival, instructions were to go to the restaurant to pick up the key and check in, however the restaurant was closed (it was apparently closed Tuesday and Wednesday). We called the number posted on the door, at least 5 times, however it went straight to the restaurant’s voicemail saying it was closed. During this time we had messaged the host through booking messaging but with no response. We asked around the beautiful town and locals were happy to help, however they didn’t know her well and described her as unfriendly. After almost 3 hours we decided to cut our losses and check into a nearby hotel. When I explained to the lady in the hotel reception what had happened, she somehow managed to get a personal number to our host. The host met us after roughly 10-15 minutes at the restaurant and was brusque in manner and unapologetic. After that, she took us along to the accommodation and showed us around. It was a very stressful situation and start to our stay in Riquewihr.
