OK but several flaws that can be corrected

The location is quiet, everything was clean, and the beds were comfortable.

It's a bit of a shame you can't park your car right by your room entrance; it's truly a hotel where you have to navigate the hallways to get to your room. The breakfast was terrible; actually, the worst breakfast with the fewest choices (waffle, prepackaged bagel, one type of jam, and butter) we had in three weeks of traveling through four states in the USA. The dough (which was in a separate bowl and only allowed to be used by the employee) for the waffle maker was also inedible and resulted in a mushy waffle (probably trying to save money by mixing a lot of water). People who don't want light in their bedroom while sleeping should avoid this hotel or bring a blindfold. At night, you can easily see everything in the room thanks to the hotel's own outdoor lighting and probably other street lights as well (see attached photo). It practically feels like daylight inside. Perhaps that's why it's called the Sunset Inn, because you never feel like you're there day or night, but rather permanently stuck in the sunset. The staff, by the way, were very distant and formal; in other words, this hotel didn't exude any coziness.

Quiet night in Alamosa.

We had to leave too early for breakfast. It looked like you needed to order breakfast, it was not buffet. The bed was comfortable. There was a sink, fridge, and microwave in the room. The A/C unit was big.

There was a smell to the hotel and we only got one bar of soap and one bottle of shampoo for the bathroom and shower.

We came for a few days for some get away time and we found it. A great place to stay.

The staff was superb. We could not have met a nicer bunch of people. They were very helpful in every way. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. We also felt safe in the area. The breakfast was a bit sparse, but the waffles were excellent. Usually, you have to make your own waffles but they had someone make them for you. A "FREE" breakfast is actually quite costly to hotels and it does reflect in the room cost. The room rates here were a lot less than the other hotels in the area especially the chain hotels. So I see this as a wash.

I'm trying to think of something...We did ask for a side-by-side rooms and they were able to accommodate us. Maybe they could put a door between some of the rooms for people who need side-by-side?

Sunset Inn was clean, quiet and comfortable, easy to find, somewhat off the beaten path, which only makes for an even more restful, quiet sleep. Reasonable price for a good nights' rest. Sunset Inn seemed to be one of the newer options in town. Staff was extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was sufficient to get the day off to a good start. Again, staff was great! (Loved the cats too :) )

Forced to sleep in car.

I was arriving late for check in, the front desk assured me they would arrange to have someone available to check me in, but when I arrived the door was locked and no one was working the front desk. I called and rang the doorbell multiple times to no answer. I waited for over thirty minutes but nobody showed up. Finally I decided to look for other accommodations but there was no vacancy in the area. Ultimately I was forced to sleep in my car.

The outstanding staff and comfort of our room were exceptional.

The staff is phenomenal! I immediately felt like I was at home when I arrived. I was treated like an old friend. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was eggs, potatoes and waffles. I loved everything about our stay and will only stay here when I'm in the area again.

The window needs a blackout curtain or blackout shades. It's nothing that would keep me from coming back. It was a very minor issue.

Rooms were very clean. Staff was very friendly.

Bed was too firm so rest was not great. Elevator was out the entire 5 days that we stayed. We are older and it was difficult for us. It would have been nice to have been notified before cancelation deadline so that we could have made other arrangements. Very disappointed with breakfast. We would get to the kitchen a little after 7 and hardly anything to eat. We ended up buying breakfast elsewhere because of the lack of food.

Friendly budget hotel - with bonus cats!

We liked the second sink, next to the microwave/fridge. And we loved being able to meet the hotel cats after breakfast. (They are usually around during the day, when most guests are gone).

The bathroom supplies included shampoo but not conditioner.

Dirty, dingy, sketchy neighborhood...Didn't stay!

It was cheap. You get what you pay for, I guess.

The room was very dark,dingy. Found dead bugs on bathroom mat. Neighborhood was real sketchy.Learned later that it was the recent scene of a crime. It just felt creepy. We checked out immediately and didn't care if we still got charged.
