Gardenvilla Shirahama

The outdoor pool and garden heated pools. You can rent bikes, boogie boards. The food and drink prices were cheap.

The property felt dated and it was quite a way out of town, serviced by a limited bus.

Everything was amazing. The hospitality and food were amazing but above all, the scenery and location were amazing. An easy walk to the beach (albeit a bit of a harder, uphill walk back) made for an easy and very enjoyable beach day. The shuttle to the train station was also very nice

Nothing of note

Everything from the staff to the facilities to the view to the onsens. Great breakfast and just an awesome vibe. I will return. With my whole family

I can't think of anything I didn't like. Maybe the tiny old television but your not staying here to watch tv

We only stayed for one night, so we did not get to experience most of the amenities. But everything looked very clean and well taken care of. The common area/dining area was very cozy and welcoming, and they have a variety of drinks and small treats available throughout the day. Our room had a stunning view of the ocean and some of the surrounding hills, and overall it was very quiet. It really felt like we had been invited into someone's home rather than simply staying the night at another hotel. The staff absolutely contributed to that, as everyone we spoke with was very friendly and accommodating. We weren't sure if we would have time to eat breakfast before leaving, but I'm glad we stayed because the meal was very delicious and filling, and I was surprised at the variety of foods offered.

The only negatives we encountered were minimal- the beds were a bit firm (I tend to prefer a softer bed, so this could be more of a personal preference), the flush handle for the toilet in our room was loose and it continued to run for a few minutes after flushing, and the TV was rather small compared to what you would normally find in a hotel.
