I loved the traditional Mexican style of the decor, Top notch bedding, The restaurant was very good, and the staff were so friendly and attentive. Thank you José for all your help!
It’s quite pricey for a traditional older Mexican style hotel.

One of the best features was the size of the room, which was very large. We also liked the terrace and pool area, which had a great view of the ocean and was a great place to watch sunsets. We appreciated that they had an "adults only" pool. The beach right in front of the hotel was too rough for swimming comfortably, but we could walk 10 minutes north along the beach to find good swimming areas with beach chairs and umbrellas for 200 pesos for the day. The hotel's location was in the quiet part of town, but close to several good restaurants.
Nothing to mention.

We enjoyed the view of the Pacific, the colonial structure, the staff, the guests, the entire experience!

It's well located and clean, staff is very friendly, especially Miguel Angel, the waiter at the pool.
The pool and the dining area has a lovely view to the ocean, great to spend the afternoon and watch the sunset.
We didn't have our room cleaning, but the staff sent water, more soap and fresh towels right away.

Great facilities, super friendly staff, and clean. Very nice design/decor.

The hotel was beautiful and beautifully landscaped. I liked that there were two swimming pools, one being reserved for adults. Our room was very spacious. The personnel was extraordinary. It was fun being able to walk to bars directly on the beach for cocktails to accompany the gorgeous sunsets.
I was suffering from a sore knee, so all of the stairs were a trial.

Nice view of the ocean from the common terrace
Very expensive for what it was. The hotel needs to be upgraded and to charge those prices. Reception staff are nit straight forward about room price and type. Staff give you the line of tips when giving you poor service and a noisy rundown room when paying the big price… Quite noisy by the road side.

I hated this hotel is horrible, avoid it at all cost
I really regret booking this hotel. It’s excessively expensive for the terrible quality of services they provide. Most of the rooms seem untouched since the 1970s — everything looks old, rusty, damp, and full of mold. The place feels more like a neglected roadside motel than a proper hotel.
Room
The room had a terrible humidity problem, even with the air conditioning running all day. Mold was everywhere in the bathroom, and the toilet leaked and got blocked every single day — we ended up using the public restrooms instead. Every metal surface was rusty, the doors were worn out, walls full of stains, and the ceiling fan looked ready to fall apart.
There was no fridge or kettle, and the curtains were so thin that light came through from dawn. The “terrace” was filthy and covered in cobwebs — clearly not cleaned for months. Overall, the room felt old, neglected, and very uncomfortable.
Service
The staff were unhelpful and unmotivated, doing only the bare minimum. We were three people and repeatedly asked for a third towel — five times — and never got one. Despite complaining several times about the broken toilet, no one ever came to fix it.
Another big frustration: guests are not allowed to bring their own water or drinks to common areas, only those sold at exaggerated hotel prices. After paying such a high price for a low-quality room, it feels unfair and greedy. Common areas were just as bad — dirty pool, worn-out beach towels, and poorly maintained facilities.
Restaurant
The restaurant was another disappointment. Food was average, service extremely slow, and prices ridiculously high. Breakfast isn’t even included despite the room rate, and it’s not worth paying for — everything was cold and the coffee was terrible. Tables, chairs, and the whole dining area look like they’re from the 1970s and have never been renovated since.
Overall, this hotel is a complete rip-off — outdated, dirty, and badly managed. I would never recommend it to anyone.

Location
Room was not available at 1500 at checking time nor room was clean
The staff was incompetent
Definitely not a good experience

The pool and outside areas were lovely - A real treat, the decor and landscaping was very picturesque. The pool was open very late which was an added bonus as there is something special about a nighttime outdoor swim. The staff were also all fantastic, very helpful and made the stay. The room was also comfortable and we loved the location of the hotel.
We personally didn’t eat much at the restaurant as we felt the prices were quite high but the food did seem high quality.
The bathroom and some of the fixtures in the room could have been updated but overall it was good value for what we paid.

Courteous staff. Pictures of hotel appear for it to be a beachfront hotel. That was not the case. The beach is across the street and the beach is not a safe one to swim in. There are not hotel umbrellas.
That the beach across the street was not accessible and not safe to swim. It is for experienced surfers.

The pools
The beach is across from the hotel but they don’t have beach club so you have to find and pay for the sun chairs ( not much anyway )

The staff was so lovely and accommodating in every way. The restaurant was great and the fact that they had a separate pool for adults was awesome. The AC was so cold and refreshing!

This is a small, quaint Mexican hotel offering the true and simple Mexican experience of hospitality. The food and drinks were good, service was always with a smile and accommodating. Rooms are simple but comfortable.

Fun place to be. Cute setting and amenities, very friendly staff.
Kinda felt like we got the “broke” or “damaged” room. Literally like a little meh every where. Rust running down the wall from ac unit, fan looked like it was about to fall at any moment, the coffee shelf stained with coffee, outside chairs both ripped, left bed headboard loose banging off the wall, middle leg on right side of left bed was about to completely fall off supporting it, tv was partially broke - kept bleaching out half the screen whenever anything white played on the tv, the tiles in bathroom cracked looks like they were holding probably a glass door at some point - never patched or fixed - just removed, there was measurements all around the room - small but looked like centimeter measurements. Like 4 star, splurged on these for us, spent the most time on our trip here, and like if one or two of these heck maybe 3 would be like “ok ish happens” but kinda felt like because we got the discount room it came half done. Clean and well taken care of, staff great, just broken room. Hoping this remains private to the owners, if I see it review the business I’ll delete it. Just want them to know it was kinda messed up for us. Tainted the trip to Escondido a bit.

The location was great for walking and scooter. The staff was excellent and top notch. Pools were nice, clean, water temp great. Having restaurant service by pool made it so comfortable.
There was loud live music from across the street on Sat 3-5am, woke me up hard to sleep. I went outside and just nothing I could do but suffer. Restaurant was ok for breakfast, basic cocktails, dinner we went once, there’s much more amazing food in n the area.

A beautiful ambiance, made for a nice experience
We were given a much smaller room than we had booked. It was a mistake on their end but they were not able to accommodate us with the upgraded room we had reserved and paid for. There was no option for a price adjustment which was disappointing

I didn’t know the location was one street away from the beach however, it’s very safe to walk around and the restaurants and shops are really nice. This location is not suitable for entering the beach

Stunningly beautiful views and landscaping. Friendly staff. Great food. Two pools for swimming, one just for adults. Comfortable rooms with AC.

The location was fantastic being a short walk from Zicatela beach and the Main Street. Close to other areas in town would easily recommend. Pool was a great touch and used every day even though the beach was so close.
There is no wifi. They advertise it and it’s available, but you cannot rely on it at all.

Authentic and close to the sea. The staff were amazing and very supportive.
When our first room was not up to par … they quickly upgraded us to a beautiful courtyard room with balcony. Extremely kind ☺️
I stayed in this very same hotel back in the ‘80s and it was a very special and pleasant experience.
When we first arrived the room they gave us was not courtyard view, the room smelled of mold and the toilet did not flush. Although this was remedied … it is a room I would not recommend.

The best location on the beach, has a classic Mexican feel, our view was wonderful, staff all present
The restaurant was very good but food lacked a bit of flavor

No blackout blinds
A lot of noise always
The duvet sucks

Great location next to the beach, pools were nice and warm, good restaurant although overpriced for a vegetarian menu, nice looking colonial architecture.
The cost per night was not relative to the offering. My bed had bugs and we had to switch rooms, bathrooms were aging, restaurant was overpriced. And the WiFi was TERRIBLE, not recommendable for digital pads or teleworking...

The room needed to be updated especially the bathroom shower and the AC was not working at all.

The hotel is very nice and the restaurant is delicious, the staff was super helpful and friendly.
The Rooms are a bit old and not enough sockets to conect electronic devices.

The hotel has a very beautiful landscaping, the rooms are big an clean. The bed felt clean as well and very comfy. The location was ideal to me since it sits away from all the movement going at zicatela yet you can walk a few steps there and enjoy the lively beach front if you want.
The TV was broken... Not a problem to me since I wasn't planning to see any TV anyways

old school super pretty tiling and nice pools.
got violent food poisoning day 1 at the restaurant on property. had to call in a doctor after 11 hours of vomiting. they didn’t check on me, pay for doctor or take the meal off the bill. front desk and management were horrible. rest of staff were lovely
6.0 / 10.0
The service and restaurant were wonderful. The pool was nice but not very clean. The location was great.
The rooms really need some updating. TVs don't really work. It was hard to control the temperature in the room. They could use better pillows and linens.
