Dinner at the restaurant was amazing and the staff was great! The owner's tour of the castle on property was a highlight! Great little bar!
May have eaten an Irish breakfast that didn't agree with me!!

Ballinalacken Castle was so lovely. The grounds are beautiful and the owners are extremely friendly and helpful. We got a private tour of the castle with Decklin (the owner) where we learned all about the history of the property. The restaurant was excellent.
We thought it was closer to the town of Doolin, but the hotel arranged ,very easily, transportation for us!

Its magical - like stepping back in time - old world elegance and full of history - family owned care is a refreshing change from corporate lodgings… restaurant is 5 star and Doolin /the Cliffs are quite close by.

Wonderful location next to the Castle, amazing views to the ocean
Restaurant was great, with an interesting wine and beer selection
Good breakfast, large room
Everything felt a bit tired and musty, tiny old TV and patchy wifi.

Great restaurant in hotel and had a view of the cliffs of mohr. Very country, serene setting. I felt very pampered here. Tour of the adjacent castle before dinner was a nice touch.

Declan gave a fun tour of their private castle which was really fun. Cecilia was also very welcoming and making sure we were enjoying our stay. The room was great and the breakfast and dinner was very good as well!

The property is so beautiful. Lovely decor, comfortable bed. The breakfast was delicious. You can have the continental and also hot . The owner gave us and the other guests a tour of the actual castle outside. It is in a lovely setting with the ocean in the background. We were touring at sunset and got some good photos. The staff is really great. Thank you so much!
We needed to spend enough time here. Our schedule was pretty tight

The Ballinalacken Castle Country House Hotel was a lovely place to stay, we were made to feel very welcome as soon as we stepped through the door. The food was excellent, the beds were very comfortable, the whole hotel is furnished in the classics country house style, very comfortable and cosy with relaxing peat fires. And, to top it all off there was a comprehensive tour of a castle in the grounds. Thoroughly enjoyable stay, would have loved to have been able to stay longer

Staying at this hotel was one of the highlights of our first-time, two-week road trip in Ireland. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. The quality of the dining at the restaurant was a pleasant surprise. We thought we would dine elsewhere, but ended up eating there both nights of our stay because the food was so good. Super cute little "pub-like" bar in the hotel too. And, be sure to take the castle tour!

Amazing hill top location. Lovely friendly staff and great breakfast and restaurant food was top notch and a surprise tour of the castle which doesn’t look much from the outside but was surprisingly interesting inside.
It’s very traditional so some of the rooms might feel a bit old/stuffy but we found that all part of the charm of the place.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We had asked about an excursion and received a great tip. We booked it and really felt it was a great suggestion. Dinners were amazing snd breakfast with freshly baked scones were heavenly!! Again, the staff was exceptional!!
It was a bit stuffy with no air conditioning.

Everything was great, and the owners are exceptional and really went out of their way for us during our stay. The location is absolutely wonderful, the castle is very cool and the mini tour (which we didn’t realise they did) was great, and the sunsets from the hotel are truly stunning.

We had an absolutely lovely time here! The accommodations are wonderful, and the staff was excellent. They showed us fantastic hospitality, and we loved the tour of the castle as well! The breakfasts were excellent, and we also ate dinner at the hotel and it was amazing!
Only complaints were that the bed had a single, heavy comforter (which is pretty common in Europe), which meant it was way too hot when using it, but too cold without it. I wish they had a sheet & blanket instead of a heavy comforter.

Castle tour was amazing. Breakfast was excellent.
Staff was less than friendly. Room was tired and in need of an update. Pricey for what you got. Owner seemed irritated that we didn’t eat dinner there.

Staff seemed disinterested. Many steps with no bell staff. Restaurant closed

We were in the Castle Suite and the room was spacious. We loved the restaurant. It has great food and a wonderful view. The hotel has a historic castle on it's ground and they have a tour every evening. It was quite fascinating to explore the castle and the views from the top are incredible- you can see the mountains of Connemara on one side and the Cliffs of Moher on the other side. They also grow wild flowers on the hill to support the bee population and we appreciated it.
The front desk was inconsistently attended. You had to ring the bell a couple of times and wait for someone to come.

From the moment we arrived we were enchanted. The house is gorgeous and well appointed, the grounds are lovely & expansive (to include an O'Brien castle!). The owners are charming, friendly, kind & made sure that we were well taken care of. The restaurant has excellent food & wine served by professional staff. You won't need lunch after the hearty breakfast served daily. Our suite was very comfortable & had everything we needed (and more). **We also appreciated the wildflower field adjacent to the castle, planted to help the bees.** We can't wait to return.

Staying with this incredibly gracious family on their stunning castle ruin estate was truly the highlight of our trip so far. The warmth of their hospitality, the comfort of the accommodations, and the unforgettable private tour of the historic castle grounds made for an experience we will treasure. This is more than a stay — it’s a step into history, hosted by people who genuinely care about sharing their home and heritage. Absolutely unforgettable!

Private castle tour and ocean view.
Hot breakfast portion wasn't good. Also needing to leave big chunky key each time you left the property.

Beautiful setting. Interior was formal and pleasant. Staff was very friendly and pleasant to interact with. Castle tour was very informative…
Suite temperature was cold. Hair was in the shower when we arrived from previous visitors.

Beautiful, idyllic, peaceful stay.
A bit isolated from town, which was ok.

Lovely family run establishment. We were well looked after - upgraded on arrival, and there is a fabulous restaurant and a cute little bar onsite. There is also a castle in the grounds, and at 6pm each evening the owner has a guided tour, with lots of information on the O'Brien clan and all their castles in the locality. Beautiful views of the surrounding landscape from the top of the castle. Highly recommend staying there, beautiful location, fantastic views and easy access to Doolin, the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher.
One recommendation is to update the dessert menu with gluten / allergen indicators. They seemed to have been accidentally left off, as they all featured on the main dinner and breakfast menus.

Our stay at this hotel was an unforgettable experience. The room was beautiful, the beds incredibly comfortable, the dinner was excellent in a beautiful dining room with delicious food and a large selection of excellent Irish whiskey, the service at dinner was attentive and very nice. The breakfast was delicious and pleasant. Overall, a very romantic environment, attentive and nice staff and the owner, who prepared a private and unforgettable tour of the castle for us. We will long remember our best accommodation during our Irish road trip, and we will definitely come back here. THANK YOU

The hotel is in a very picturesque location with a castle ruin adjacent to it. The owner gave us a tour which was an unexpected bonus. Parking is available on site. Full breakfasts are included and are very enjoyable.
The building is not designed for people with disabilities, with many stairs between the hotel lobby and the rooms. This wasn't a deal breaker for us however, there is no elevator so carrying our luggage to and from the room was a hassle. The hotel restaurant is not open on Mondays ( a fact we discovered on arrival ) so if you arrive late and are expecting a meal on that day you must travel to the nearest town. (The town is not too far away and there are several pubs that serve full dinners and play great music.)

Bathroom too small. Banged toilet paper holder every time I sat on the toilet

The bath/shower needs an upgrade and the fan in the bathroom was particularly noisy.

Great owners. Lovely hotel in a great location. Views were magnificent. We had to leave before breakfast so we couldn’t rate it but I’m sure it would have been as excellent as everything else.

Amazing location upon a hilltop overlooking the coast and cliffs of Moher. Lovely old hotel/guesthouse with it's very own castle ruins. The property has a top notch restaurant which served us dinner and breakfast. Also there is a bar off the lobby for a pint anytime. Parking was plentiful. The grounds were beautiful. The owner provided a history of the property and a castle tour. The castle was in great condition. Meals were amazing, other guests were lovely to meet and talk to.
Bathroom facilities are old but certainly workable.
