8.0 / 10.0Excellent·Apr 2026
Characterful hotel and communal seating area for hotel guests was a nice extra. Bright, nicely decorated and comfortable room. Good location for walking
Room 5. Smallest double room I have ever stayed in. Bathroom was like a cupboard! Understand about old properties but so much flexing of floorboards in corridor that whole room shook whenever anyone walked past! Very noisy slamming doors and creaking stairwell day and night. Expensive for size of room

Great location, lovely room with comfortable bed, cosy pub feel, staff were all brilliant!

Good location
Extractor fan not working in bathroom. Visible damp.
6.0 / 10.0Average·Dec 2025
Peter was outstanding- and seems to be manager, chef, reception and any other multi-tasker. All done with a welcome attitude and smile.
The sheets and towels were very clean, and changed every day.
Good location
The en-suite was in poor state, as there was some mould, and the expellair fan either was broken or didn’t work. The damp after showering flowed into the room, and the internal windows weee covered in water most of the day. The windows didn’t open to provide ventilation as they have been over painted. This is a dangerous situation, not just for the damp, but the room is at the end of the block, and there would be no other means of escape should there be a fire.
Making the situation more dangerous, is the fact that the room door is not compliant to fire regulations, neither is the door on room 1. We were room 2.
The intumescent strips do not seal at all in places, and there are also gaps at the bottom of the doors.
(I was part of a team updating all the fire doors for the British Army, so I know how the doors should be)
I will be writing a report on Trip Advisor, but will await your response regarding this matter. It potentially is a dangerous fire risk, with guests having no escape option at this moment in time. I also know that your insurance might also be void if proved fire doors are not compliant.
I didn’t pass these comments to Peter at the time, as my understanding he is the manager, not the owner
Hope this all makes sense
Regards
