Nice place food is great, service was ok but could do with being more attentive perhaps

The bed was very comfy, the breakfast was amazing! I had a carvery in the evening that we arrived and was really very nice and tasty. The Guinness was also very good, perhaps a little heady, my wife did ask if I'd like a flake with it. But otherwise pretty damn good

Was awoken at around 2 am by voices some woman talking quite loudly and having a laugh, couldn't really hear anyone else talking but we could also hear a TV, we went to have a look at about 3am but couldn't see anyone, this continued till around 4.30 then stopped. We went to Exeter the next day when we got back we were very tired the hotel began to fill up with guests for Christmas parties, we decided to leave a day early as we didnt fancy another sleepless night listening to people talking. I think the walls are a bit thin

Some parts a little dated. Television didn’t work because either the sky box not connected or bad signal or the remote control wasn’t working properly or a combination of all. Not ideal when in a family room with a little child so that was tough. Also not sure I liked the fact that nobody around after 10pm to help with anything.

Staff were excellent. Breakfast was good quality and plentiful Dinner was good, very big portions.

Temperature in the room (101) was too high and uncomfortable. Double bed was on the small size.

Interesting stay

The room was comfy, easy parking and there was a fitness centre.

Asked to book a table for supper and staff then didn't book it. Despite me going back to reception to check. Had to beg the restaurant to cook a meal and I carried it back to my room to eat as restaurant and bar were full. Walked past reception and told them what happened and they didn't care. There was mould in my shower. In the morning as walked out room for breakfast, cleaner was just starting and was swearing walking along the corridor. When I commented she said its her arthritis. When I checked in I said id be using fitness centre and they said I needed to fill a form in and get my card updated. They wanted me to come back and do it which was strange. So asked them to do it to save me coming back.

Wouldnt recommend not a clean place

Breakfast wasn’t included, even though it made out it was at time of booking.

Room was filthy not cleaned properly, window sills dirty, dust on tv badly shows not been cleaned for months, bathroom dirty opened cabinet had old tooth paste marks on shelf’s, on the floor around toilet was dirty, door dusty and dirty paint worn really badly, overall experience was terrible, I put sign on door to get room serviced on my return the sign had been turned to do not disturb and room hadn’t been cleaned. Kettle had marks in it, sink wouldn’t drain properly told the desk, lady said ok will get it looked at, I said do you want my room number she went yes, didn’t make any eye contact. Wasn’t interested, on my return it was still the same.

An excellent hotel

What makes this hotel special is the superb staff. They were so special, friendly and attentive from reception to bar to the restaurant and even a lovely smile from the room attendant when leaving the room. The carvery and al a carte was excellent the room and bed comfortable. A good hotel which I would stay at again when visiting again.

Breakfast was very nice and good choice plus the restaurant was nice good food also being able to sit out side being able to have drinks and relax around the garden plus was very lucky we had lovely weather all the time being there on our stay did some travelling around plus beaches the only thing I would say was the room was ok the blinds were broken which didn't look nice and little more tension to detail but apart from that nice stay

Miles from anywhere and small!

The staff were lovely

The rooms are tiny, the bathrooms you can touch the walls with your arms outstretched. It’s just tired and miles from anywhere. Very overpriced!

On arrival the lady on the desk was very helpful and friendly. The room had everything needed for a short stay. It was fairly basic but comfortable and clean.

There was a lot of noise coming from the other rooms.

Disappointing.

This is very special for us as we had our wedding reception with Devon hotel. Outside is very pretty and love the new seating area.

We were not giving any information regarding now restaurant closes at 8- receptionist booked table for us for 7.30 like we asked so should have been informed so we could had changed the booking time. We were informed by staff as they were rushing us to order…. She said that we do know they close at 8 ? She continues to tell us it says on the website, but not everyone goes onto the webpage. Especially when your not booking table directly!! This should be something that is passed on by the receptionist when checking in. All staff were unprofessional, for example we experienced staff talking about a customer together loudly, and None of the staff smiled, and we were made to feel we were in the way. Not nice at all! Such a shame. There was one lad that was fairly rude as my husband asked if he could get another drink as we had been waiting for about 20 minutes for our waiter who was looking after us disappeared. He commented sarcastically you want another! And when he returned he slammed the glass down. so I am conscious that the waiter was busy and that’s not his fault, but then a smile would’ve gone a long way….. customer service needs addressing massively and quickly. The room we were in 107 bottom room. Was ok apart from the t.v didn’t work after 10pm and we were disturbed with a noise from the ac all night about every half an hour! So sleep was hard. The room was hot so we had to have it on low, Check out is 11 but cleaner tried the door at 10.20 luckily I had the door looked as that could have been embarrassing. Maybe in future cleaners should be trained on knocking on the door before trying to enter? Surly there should be communication between receptions and cleaners. Who has checked out e.t.c. Reception on check out- didn’t ask if we had a nice stay, was told to just put your key in the box. It wasn’t a nice experience at all and such a disappointment from what we have experienced over the years coming to stay. 2/10 I would rate now.

Short & Sweet Stay

The location was ideal and was principally why we booked to stay the night as we were attending a family function the next day at a venue close by. Whilst compact the room was clean & had hot drink making equipment which was great especially as we arrived so late. It was only an overnight stay so from that perspective it had all that we needed. We didn't eat at the hotel or use the facilities but it was useful to know that these were available had we been able.

We were late arriving due to a lot of traffic in the M5 & were very tired on arrival. The reception was unmanned & we had to ring for help to check in. Whilst the member of staff was pleasant it took some time for the correct rooms to be sorted out & this is not helpful when you just want to unwind & go to sleep. I had booked two rooms one for my husband & I & one for my adult daughter. Finally we found our rooms & attempted to get a good nights rest. Unfortunately our room faced the carpark/road & to start with was incredibly noisy. My daughter's room faced the rear of the building so was a lot quieter. The ambient room temperature was difficult to get right so neither my husband nor I really slept properly.

Clean, soft, quiet stay, what more could you want x

Good location. Stunning cream bedroom. The bed sheets were gorgeously soft. Quiet room and aircon so you don’t have to open the windows to the road noise. Oh and the bathroom, although small was stunningly clean and smelt fresh. Beautiful stay.

I suppose not having access to our own Netflix/prime account is a bit different, as could only watch live Sky tv.

Great place for convenience which we’ll use again.

We booked because it was very close to family that we were visiting (arriving late due to traffic delays). We loved the air conditioned Motel style room (with outside area and parking space). The Pub and restaurant being next door was also very convenient. The breakfast was of excellent quality and serving staff were very efficient.

We didn’t require much at all during our stay but I wasn’t impressed by a couple of passing interactions with staff. A girl on reception didn’t seem very interested when I reported a faulty reading light on departure and a girl behind the bar walked off and didn’t return when we asked for our water bottles to be filled. So a bit of Customer Service training might help here.

A welcoming, comfortable and well maintained hotel on the outskirts of Exeter.

The warm welcome at reception. The well equipped room with mini fridge, safe, bath. The room was discreetly maintained each morning.

With the population of Exeter and neighbouring towns increasing there is now a lot of traffic using the ring-road immediately outside the hotel. There is a fair amount of rumble, screeching of brakes and sounding of horns particularly during rush hours. I visited during a heat wave so had to make the choice of opening the windows and hearing the traffic or close the window and hear the air-conditioning. If it hadn’t been for this minor niggle my stay at the Devon Hotel would have been absolutely perfect!

The room was shoddy, it felt as though someone had been in there and left having used a glass and a towel which had been clearly left where they shouldn’t have been for a newly cleaned room. The worst part however was the shower which was pathetic, literally a dribble of water which to me is unacceptable when it takes 2 seconds to test.
