The meals were very tasty and filling. Provided cosmetics were high quality and appreciated. The welcome tea and night time drinks were also very appreciated.

The ceiling of the Onsen could use a bit of renovation. The bathroom was a bit cramped and had a lingering smell.

Lovely traditional Japanese hotel. A wonderful experience.

Staff were nice and helpful, and good at English. We had to get dinner outside, so we bought some food from the convenience store - the staff gave us bowls and silverware, and also had a pot we could use if we wanted to boil something. They also had a bar to sample some liquors they prepared, which was cool. Location was great (right next to the sounkyo ice festival, and the cable car). Breakfast was fine.

- The price of this place is really high, especially for being so remote. For the price, I was expecting more of a luxury ryokan/onsen, but it was actually probably the worst that I've been to in Japan so far (see below). I had chosen this to treat ourselves after a long week of skiing in Furano, but it turns out to be really overpriced. - They didn't have a bidet in the bathroom. This is literally the only place out of everywhere I've stayed at in Japan that didn't have a bidet. For the high price of this hotel, I cannot believe they don't even have a bidet. - The onsen was quite small, fitting few people, and the hours a bit limiting. And the hours didn't even seem to be enforced clearly. - The slippers didn't seem like they'd add much cleanliness - everybody's wearing the same slippers, so it's gross I have to wear some random slippers that someone else had just worn with their dirty feet. - The room was a bit outdated, and the futon and sheets seemed worn/stained. - The parking garage was cramped and low-ceiling, and also served as the garbage dump area. And you have to lug your luggage yourself up the stairs into the hotel. All of this would be more forgivable had the price been halved!
