DESCRIPTION
The Old Signal House is set in an exceptional location, off the beaten track, surrounded by open countryside with gated access to the coastal path where there are panoramic views along this spectacular coastline including St Catherines Lighthouse and Oratory. Set within ten acres of private meadowlands, adjoining National Trust Land, The Old Signal House is ideal for walkers, photographers, bird watchers or those just looking for a relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle. Originally the local telephone exchange, known as ‘Niton Radio', this interesting property has been converted to offer spacious accommodation arranged on one level, with an open plan living area and 4 bedrooms, all en-suite. Larger groups can rent the adjoining Morse Cottage which sleeps four, ideal for families or friends who wish to holiday together.Niton village is about half a mile distant with a variety of local shops including convenience store, post office with tea rooms, butchers and pharmacy. The White Lion is a traditional family pub offering a selection of home made dishes. At the nearby Niton Undercliff, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is the Buddle Inn with splendid views overlooking the sea. Opposite are steps leading to Castle Cove with its history of smugglers and ghosts. One mile along the coastal road to the west is the popular Blackgang Chine theme park, a fun day out for all the family. A trip along the Military Road to Freshwater Bay offers magnificent views over the English Channel and the sandy beaches of Whale Chine, Brook and Compton Bays. The nearby Victorian resort town of Ventnor offers interesting architecture, shops, bars and cafes.

We came over as a group of friends to visit the Isle of Wight, although I would say the property is definitely aimed at family holidays. The instructions to get into the property were clear and simple and communication on the build up to our holiday was great. The property is really special, it was clean and we had plenty of fresh linen. The games room is a great addition and we really enjoyed having a few games of pool, and made use of the board games left for us! The kitchen was also really well stocked with equipment for preparing dinners at home, which definitely saved us a great deal of money being able to prepare breakfast and our own meals some days. The scenery and view is spectacular and there is very little noise/ light pollution which made getting to sleep great, helped by really comfy beds! There was ample parking which is great as the property is secluded, although there are public transport links on the 6 bus route. We really enjoyed our stay here!

Such a beautiful place to spend time with people we love. Our dogs thought they were in heaven as they had a whole field to romp in. We would come here again.

On the plus size this is a truely unique location and the people that converted this space from a dull 1970s BT building to a cool house should be applauded. It's a perfect getaway location and you're truely isolated (in a good way) but with lots of great walks and places to explore. We really enjoyed all the smuggling past nearby. Things which could be improved - this clearly was a labour of love which needs reinventing. You can feel it's all a bit tired - equipment that no longer functions, stuff to do which is worn out or unusable (dvds, music, wii) should just not be there because you get excited about laying 'that old game' or listening to 'that old album' and find it doesn't work. There is 1 TV and 1 radio and neither of them work very well. We spent a lot of time in awe at the potential of this amazing building with another injection of capital and love and we wish the owners the best. In conclusion - perfect for walks, reading books or as a base station for a big family. Don't expect luxury.Oh and when the TV, Wii, Radio and DVD player didn't work, we messaged the owner and got no reply. It's not clear who you should contact if there is a problem during your stay - infact the folder full of information is woefully out of date and half of it was specifically for a previous guest.
