Very good apartment in a quiet location, only a short walk to the beach. A large furnished terrace with a view of the sea. Well-equipped including washing machine. No problem parking.

We loved our stay here. The decor is lovely and clearly chosen with an artistic taste. It is well equipped and the bed is comfortable. The location is tranquil and close to two beaches. The front balcony is shaded and looks out to the sea, with breathtaking sunsets a major feature. It is large, with a table & chairs for eating or drinking al fresco, plus sun loungers. The rear balcony is a sun trap with a table & chairs and looks out over agricultural land. The nearest shop is in Punta Secca but parking can be an issue, but there is large supermarket in the town Santa Croce Camerina. There are many lovely beach side towns and beautiful baroque UNESCO towns to visit and the countryside is distinctly different from other parts of Sicily, the coast is 'Sauvage' as the French would say and beautiful. Punta Secca, Santa Croce Camerina (Ragusa Province) is worth visiting, especially for fans of the Sicilian detective series - Montalbano. When not driving their car, the local Sicilians are very friendly and helpful. In the daytime the house was neither too hot nor too cold (early October). The fridge freezer is large. The kitchen is well equipped, although it lacks a Toaster (a very British requirement). Salvo (appropriately name for Montalbano Fans) was always very accessible via WhatsApp and willing to respond quickly to any enquiries. We would love to stay again in Spring or Autumn, when the temperature is just right for us pale skinned Brits! Thank you, Salvo.

Finding the property was not straight forward as there is no house number, but the owner did send a message via WhatsApp providing directions. Do not make the mistake of putting in just Punta Secca into the SatNav as there is another place of the same name, near to Gela, which is almost an hour away. Please be aware, the apartment is not in Punta Secca town but part of a group of seaside properties in Torre di Mezzo, Santa Croce Camerina (Ragusa Province). If you are looking for night life & bars this may not be the place for you as Punta Secca, Santa Croce Camerina (Ragusa Province) is 5-minute drive away (2 km). Shops and amenities are not within easy walking distance so a car is needed for most people. The local roads can be rough and speed limits are uniquely Sicilian. Please note, that even with many speed cameras (Short Orange Roadside Columns) the locals can be impatient and disregard the limits. NB The power sockets are not the usual round two pin with earth seen in most parts of the EU, but a straight three pin Italian sockets, the local supermarkets do sell adapters for the round EU plugs but not the UK 3 Pin Plugs. You need to drive inland to escape the 'Poly Tunnels' that cover much of the landscape, particularly, north of Punta Secca. In the autumn it can get very cool at night, but there does not seem to be any heating or an extra thick duvet(s). Storage space and work surfaces are limited and it could benefit from some storage boxes to free up some surfaces. The apartment is up a set of stairs at the rear of the building, which may not suit people with disabilities. The very tranquillity that we loved might feel like isolation to others who seek the hustle and bustle of urban life.
