Château de Villeneuve - Montolieu

Einige Kilometer außerhalb von Montolieu. Ausgesprochen nette Gastgeber, schöner Herrensitz (wenn auch etwas renovierungsbedürftig). Leider keine AC, was im Sommer schwierig ist.

Mooi kasteeltje in een mooie omgeving.

J’ai aimé ce lieu - un superbe château, la gentillesse des hôtes, le confort, le charme des chambres (vue de la chambre en photo), la qualité des repas, l’emplacement (non loin de Toulouse, des châteaux cathares, de Carcassonne, de superbes villages, de sites de balades)

J’ai tout apprécié !

They had a very nice breakfast freshly prepared by the hostess. I also quite enjoyed the pool. And it was a chateau - so the atmosphere of the place was very nice.

Unfortunately they treated the guests very differently and made me fell quite unwelcome. They invited all guests but me for a dinner... They didn't even tell me about it (other guests did). In the evening they set one of the outdoor tables (not one of the also available indoor tables) for the other guests while I was the only one sitting right there enjoying the evening air (not expecting that they would offer dinner there). To make it worse, they then asked me "wouldn't you feel much more comfortable inside because it's cold?" several times. So I finally left (although before they started setting the table I was quite enjoying sitting there), because it was obvious that they wanted me to leave before the other guests arrived and not because they were concerned that I might be cold - otherwise they would hardly have set the outdoor table for the other guests... That table was unfortunately also right below my window, so I could not even escape the sounds of a dinner party I was excluded from - not by the other very nice (!) guests I had quite enjoyed sharing breakfast with, but by the hosts themselves. Now, don't get me wrong - I did not expect a free dinner (as it was not included in the price), but to exclude only one guest in such an invitation with no offer to take part (even paying) and making sure that the only guest not invited did not even sit where the other guest were eating (although I was sitting there first) and talk to them that evening felt awful and inhospitable. That treatment by the hosts (not a missed free dinner!) quite ruined my time in the otherwise nice castle - a stay I had quite looked forward to turned out to be one of the worst travel experiences ever - because I was never before treated in such a way by a host! Not everyone might mind being the only one left out by the hosts, but if you care about such things be aware that this might happen to you if you stay there.
