Castello di Montegufoni is an exclusive location to spend wonderful holidays in the heart of Chianti Region.
Dating back to the 12th century and restored in the 17th century by the noble family of Acciaioli, the Castle has a magnificent tower built on the model of the one of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
Montegufoni Castle is part of a large estate comprising vineyards and olive trees and is surrounded by the beautiful Chianti landscape. In the castle there are 39 apartments and a large garden with a nice swimming pool: the perfect spot to relax and have fun with your family and friends.
The Chianti Region is one of the most renowned charming area in Italy for its cultural, historical and enogastronomic traditions. This luxurious Castle offers to our guests incredible holiday experiences (on request) such as cooking lessons, event location, guided tours and more!
Distances from the villa: the small village of Montagnana V.P. with food shops 1 km, Montespertoli with all kinds of shops approx. 5 km, Florence 20 km, Pisa approx. 70 km.
A bus stop with busses to Florence is only a few meters from the castle away. Bikes and scooters for rent are available in Montespertoli.
At guests’ disposal: large and very charming terraced park furnished with garden furniture and table tennis, beautiful Italian gardens (dating back to the 18th century) with lemon trees and swimming-pool (12 x 6 m - open from 01/04 to 31/10). Reception open from 9.00 to 12.30 and from 14.30 to 18.30. The outbuildings of the castle as well were restored and turned into charming apartments. The castle is run by the Posarelli family. A nice restaurant offering nice recipes of the local Chianti tradition is open every night (from April to October except on Tuesdays). Laundry with shared washing-machine (€ 4,- / per washing). WI-FI internet connection available in some apartment, in the reception and restaurant area.
Extra services: on request possibility of renting a baby bed (€ 50,- / per week) and an extra bed (€ 100,- / per week) both payable locally.

Apartment with independent entrance situated along a secondary road, approx. 150 from the swimming-pool and 50 from the castle.

1st floor: living-room with dining area and fireplace, kitchen corner and nice views over the surrounding landscape, twin-bedded room (without window) with ensuite bathroom with shower.
2nd floor: double bedroom (air conditioning) with ensuite bathroom with shower.
The following might be to be paid extra: Babycot, Extra Bed, Heating, Late Arrival, Refundable Security Deposit in cash or by credit card, Tourist tax, Washing Machine.

An overall pleasant experience. Stellar views from a picturesque facility tucked into the Tuscany countryside. The restaurant is outstanding and one of the best meals we had during our stay. Good access to nearby cities and sites. The facility is portrayed on some websites as a bed and breakfast but there is no breakfast. Higher floors can be reasonably warm in the summer. We did not have any issues with bugs or mosquitoes even though we slept with open windows. We had to buy a wine opener and some basics like dishwasher detergent.

The listing for this apartment states castle apartment, but it was not in the castle. The apartment was in a building next to the castle. We arrived late and complained to the management the following morning. I was told that I was assigned the apartment that I booked and they could not make a change for us, it was my problem not theirs. We also stayed in this apartment in late June 2017, the weather was very hot in this two bedroom accommodation. There was no AC and one fan in each room. We were given another fan for each room, but it did not do much to cool off the room. Overall it was a clean place to sleep in a quaint area of Tuscany. Management told us there were only four rooms in the castle with AC; be sure to check all the facts before you book an apartment.
