Such a lovely, comfortable cottage, with beautiful garden and hot tub, simply could not ask for more, we loved it 💗. Everything you need, very well equipped, lovely and spacious. Made us feel very special, decorated the cottage for our Anniversary with a bottle of wine too, so kind of the hosts. Garden and hot tub very private, parking directly outside of the property. Wendy was so responsive to my messages, very friendly and kind. So impressed and happy to recommend to anyone, thank you so much for your hospitality.
Absolutely nothing!

Cottage had everything you could possibly need to enjoy a home from home stay. Kids loved the DVD selection. Kept us entertained in the evenings.

I booked for two nights to break up a long journey from Northumberland back to the South West, specifically because I wanted a completely free day to relax, enjoy the hot tub and not have to drive anywhere. Check-in was easy, Wendy was very responsive, and she kindly arranged for the heating to be put on before my arrival. The accommodation was extremely warm, clean, well equipped and comfortable, and the location worked perfectly for my journey. The covered hot tub itself was lovely, and the separate modern bathroom with a large shower immediately opposite the front door as you enter the property, is very convenient for showering before and after using it. Wendy was away when I arrived and returned during my second evening. She was friendly and helpful and, importantly, completely respected my request for privacy and not to be disturbed. I enjoyed chatting to her when I checked out. She clearly works very hard, is extremely house-proud and genuinely cares about maintaining the property and giving guests a good stay.
There is an extraordinary amount of signage, rules and instructions throughout the property. Two signs on each light switch telling guests to switch them off/save energy (photo included), no-smoking signs in every room, repeated hot-tub rules, instructions about closing doors when showering/bathing, and industrial-style yellow warnings beside mixer taps that the hot water is very hot. I appreciate these have accumulated because previous guests have been inconsiderate or lacked common sense. However, as a considerate adult guest, I found the cumulative effect surprisingly oppressive and institutional. Almost everything seemed to come with an instruction. The only way to reach the hot tub is via the front door into the driveway/courtyard area, visible from several windows of the owners' house, the property across the road, and the road itself. It could also be entered directly from the pavement and the owners pass through it to reach their rear garden. Nobody intruded while I used it and the covered hot tub itself feels secluded, but the garden didn't feel private to me. Large sliding doors leading from the lounge to the garden are locked, with the key in an emergency “break glass” box. I understand previous guests came inside wet from the hot tub onto the carpet, but again it added to the institutional feeling. The hot tub was set to 35.5°C on arrival: the rules said not to alter the temp. Wendy immediately let me turn it up when I asked. Rules prohibit use between 8am–12pm: Wendy kindly allowed me to use it then. I paid for a 12pm late checkout and had permission to use the tub that morning, but it had been turned down to 37.5°C, only around a third of the jets were working, including none of the stronger ones I'd enjoyed. I got out early, which was disappointing. I've stayed in many owner-on-site holiday lets and never encountered this degree of signage and micro-management.
