About this villa rental

VILLA PAOLA
Villa Paola is located in the south-eastern part of Sardinia about 60 km from the capital Cagliari. The villa can be reached in about an hour from Cagliari Elmas airport via the new 125.
The residence is located near the town of Castiadas in Tuerra. It is a house inserted in a land of 3 ha (hectares) cultivated with vineyards and with 700 olive trees as well as with native essences such as cistus, myrtle and holm oaks.
The building is in typical Sardinian style, L-shaped, with a ground floor and a first floor.
The construction criteria have been oriented towards respect for the environment but also for energy efficiency through a prevalent use of wood.
The residence is also equipped with a solar energy system.
The villa is accessed through an automatic gate that leads to a dirt road with olive trees on the right and left.
The avenue at night is automatically illuminated through a twilight device.
THE EXTERNAL PARTS
The external parts are characterized, in the back of the house, by a pergola with different types of table grapes, from the parking lot, also for 4 cars, and by taps to be able to wash the car and water the flowers.
On the side of the house there is a barbecue with what is needed for the roasts, a Sardinian oven (like those used for pizzas), a tap with sink and four outdoor showers.
A large stone table where you can eat or have breakfast is also available under a vine-covered and very shady gazebo.
Just below there are two swings to the delight of the children.
The front of the house is characterized by a large green lawn of about 700 square meters surrounded by a large and evergreen hedge of pitosfori that offers shelter from the wind and at the same time guarantees privacy.
Inside the lawn there are tall trees (olive trees, oaks, carob trees) which ensure shade even on the sunniest days.
On the left side of the lawn there is a large swimming pool (12m x 6m) equipped with whirlpool and a disinfectant system that does not include chlorine but the transformation of sea salt into sodium chloride through an electrolysis system. Definitely ecological. The pool water is continuously filtered
Of course, deck chairs (5) and cots (2) are available.
There are two large loggias where you can have lunch, dinner or breakfast with a wooden table and other PVC tables and chairs.
The usability of the loggias is also nocturnal.
A professional table football is also available under the loggia.

THE INTERNAL PARTS
Entering from the main door which is located in the back of the villa, on the right is the laundry room with the washing machine, a sink and space for brooms, vacuum cleaners and buckets for washing. The kitchen is contiguous and has a small wooden table and 4 chairs. The hob is in Sardinian granite where the kitchen is built in, with three gas burners and an electric one. Of course, there is a stainless steel sink with hot and cold water available. On the top are placed the microwave and the coffee machine. Furthermore, several coffee makers from one to five cups are available.
Under the hob there are the doors where there are dishes, dishes, pots, pans, glasses and everything you need for an efficient kitchen including barbecue equipment. Obviously there is a fridge and a large closet that serves as a pantry.
From the kitchen you can access the loggias through three French doors or to the lounge. The latter is large in size and has a large solid wood table capable of holding 12 people. On the left and right of the table there are two wooden sideboards. In the center of the hall, on the left side, there is a large fireplace. Immediately after the table there are two sofas, a coffee table (signed by the sculptor Pinuccio Sciola) for the living room and a TV with satellite connection.
On the walls of the hall hang many tools of the Sardinian peasant tradition. The same is equipped with three large doors - windows.
Through a blind door you enter the sleeping area which is composed of 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms. On the ground floor there is a bedroom for one person, equipped with a bed, wardrobe and accessories. In the other two bedrooms, one with a double bed, there is a large Sardinian-style wooden wardrobe, a wrought iron back and a chest of drawers.
In the other room there are two singles with wardrobe and chest of drawers.
The ground floor bathroom is fully tiled up to two meters and, of course, has all the accessories: sink, toilet, bidet, hot and cold water shower.
Access to the first floor is via a staircase with teak steps, facing left
a large terrace where you can sunbathe or watch the moon rise or the starry sky. On the right is the bathroom with shower and all the necessary services, then the bedroom with a double bed where wood dominates both in the furniture (wardrobe and bedside tables) both in the ceiling and in the floor. Along the staircase and in the passages there are numerous images of what was once the Castiadas.
Bed linens and towels are available on request.

BEACHES
Villa Paola is located in a valley full of vineyards and citrus groves and offers a panorama similar to a green sea. The nearest beach is about 9 km away and can be reached easily in no more than ten minutes. This is the beach of Feraxi, a coast of about 8 km with the availability of beach services (rental of umbrellas, sunbeds, toilet bars and small restaurants). The beach is of ferrous sand with a sea suitable also for children since the water is not high.
Towards Muravera the choice of beaches is wide Cristolu Axedu, Is perdigonis, S. Giovanni.
They can be reached in about ten minutes and are also equipped with the necessary services.
To reach the white beaches of the Costa Rei area it takes a little more time but it does not exceed 20 minutes and the choice is very wide even if it is necessary to consider a greater crowding. With thirty minutes you reach Villasimius where the choice is very wide but also the attendance rate.

THE AVAILABILITY OF SERVICES
Villa Paola is eight km from Olia Speciosa a small town in the municipality of Castiadas with a bank also with automatic withdrawal, post office with ATM, pharmacy, doctor, supermarket, social cellar, bar, pastry shop.
Also in the village of S. Priamo there are bars, hotels, restaurants, mini markets, tobacconist and newspaper sales and the distance is six km.
There are numerous restaurants in the area with a menu of meats and fish. The closest restaurant is just 500 meters away. However, it should be considered that the opening of restaurants is mainly summer, although not exclusive.
We are however at your disposal for further clarifications and indications.

Beautiful villa and garden, with lovely pool and facilities exactly as described. Francesca (owner) was exceptionally helpful and communicative when we needed anything. She also just checked in with us to ensure all was okay at various points during our stay. Other things mentioned in reviews have been exaggerated or are unfair in my opinion; the power went off twice during two weeks but was back within 1-minute following the instructions we were sent in advance (and repeated at check-in). Anyone who has stayed in rural Italy before will likely have experienced the same (this is our 6th villa over the last decade and all have had 1 or 2 occasions when the fuses have tripped out). No problem at all and just a feature of the local infrastructure I suspect! We did encounter the ants mentioned in other reviews once when we didn’t clean up some spilled pasta starch quickly enough (surprising choice of food for ants?). However, lesson learned and using the boxes provided for any open food and not leaving any food out meant it was never an issue. Again, this is nothing you wouldn’t expect in a countryside property in the height of summer and certainly not a problem if you follow the advice given. The only 4-star element was check-in as we had to wait an extra half an hour due to the person checking us in expecting the keys to have been left after cleaning/check out of previous guests. No drama as the grounds were so nice to sit and wait! Overall, an exceptional stay.

The house and the pool were beautiful and so was the property. Our arrival was a little complicated since the person who welcomed us arrived after our arrival and did not speak with we french or English. We received minimal explanations concerning the functionality of the house and no information about the services near the property. The electricity kept going out (3 Times on the first night) and two more times afterward . We had to try to fix it ourselves on the first night following a video instructions that required to go outside the gate in the electric panel without results. We had an ant infestation that kept getting worse every day until we lost food despite it being sealed and unopened. We had to keep our food in the fridge. The owner’s response to our problem was also disappointing. She did not believe us when we explained our problem and implied that we should have guessed it would happen in a countryside house. We understand that it is normal to encounter insects in country homes. We own a cottage near a Lake in the countryside in Québec, but we do not think that hundreds of ants on the floor and on the counter represents a normal presence of insects. So, even if the house was very beautiful, I do not think that it worths what we paid because of all the problems we had.
