The communal kitchen is something we have experienced before, but this one had more choices and a LOT more possibilities We appreciated the homemade goodies in the kitchen this morning.
It was fine. One has to consider that when a building is this old and has retained its original ambience, it will not be the same as a contemporary hotel. That was just what we wanted, and we appreciated the retention of the period that it represented, although I don't want to return to that "Gilded Age" culture.

We did find a used q-tip and used bandaid in our room but over all the room was clean and tidy.

We ate breakfast at restaurants. Not a fan of cooking while on a get-away. Didn’t know rooms had no TV in them until a couple days before arrival.
Keurig coffee pot on second floor.

For most of the time, we were the only guests and had the place to ourselves.
Only on street parking. There was essentially no staff around. When we called, the response was cold, not warm and friendly.
