Kimpton Everly Hotel Hollywood by IHG

The hotel itself is excellent. Our room was modern, spacious, spotless and very comfortable. The complimentary coffee each morning was a lovely touch and something we really appreciated. The beds were VERY CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE! The hotel lobby area and restaurant is beautiful! Seating area is really wow. Faultless. The location worked well as a base for exploring Los Angeles. During our stay we visited Griffith Observatory, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Venice Beach, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the TCL Chinese Theatre. We used Uber throughout, which was quick, easy and much less stressful than driving. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and overall we really enjoyed our stay.

The shower was the only minor issue with the room. The shower head can't be adjusted, which made showering our 6-year-old daughter a little awkward, although it certainly wasn't a major problem. The pool area also doesn't exactly look as advertised. Nothing major but just wanted to get you to manage your expectations. It's clean but quite small and very overlooked! Lighting not easy for my wife to apply makeup and there is no mirror in room unless inside wardrobe or bathroom (where lighting is pretty dark) Although the hotel itself felt safe, the surrounding streets didn't always. We personally wouldn't recommend walking around the local area, particularly in the evening, and found using Uber to be the better option. Our biggest disappointment was the way the booking was advertised. The listing stated that breakfast was included, but in reality it was a US$50 daily restaurant credit hidden in the small print (not hotels fault though). As a family of three, this wasn't enough to cover breakfast once drinks, taxes and tips were added, so we ended up paying extra every morning. We were also required to pay a US$150 per night incidental deposit on arrival, which came as an unexpected surprise and tied up a significant amount of money during our holiday. Booking.com is currently investigating both the breakfast information and the undisclosed deposit requirement, so I will wait to see how that is resolved. Overall, this is a very good hotel and we would recommend it for the quality of the rooms and as a base for exploring LA. Just make sure you understand exactly what is included with your booking before you arrive.

Friendly staff, clean and modern feel, 7 min drive to Universal Studios. Jane Q restaurant was delicious! Yummy, healthy dishes with good sized portions. Alan served us all 3 mornings and he really made our day each morning! Exceptional customer service! He is very friendly & personable!

This is barely worth mentioning, we had such a nice stay, but the bathroom did not have a vent and the bathroom door is a barn style slider with frosted glass, felt there could be a little more privacy in that design.

Lobby, gym, and location were awesome. Room was decent!

$75 parking plus another $15 since I had dual cab pickup. Plus a $7.50 parking tax. $100 is ridiculous. No coffee maker in the room
