The Drents-Friese Woud nature reserve is home to the largest shifting sands area in the Netherlands with beautiful cycle paths. The Vlinderparadijs (butterfly paradise) and a golf course can be found in the village of Havelte, situated further down. Admire the Hunebedden in Diever, known for the 'Shakespeare' performances, or make a trip to the Zoo in Emmen.
