Staff were friendly and helpful. Outside space seemed nice but weather prevented us enjoying it, Good location. Building had some nice character.
Small room and a small double bed. Wardrobe in bathroom and clothes got damp in there. Room was cold (the weather was unusually cold). No spare blanket in room - apparently there was a small fan heater but we didn't see it and aircon unit didn't warm room.
Breakfast had one warm option - take it or leave it - and continental option was limited. It was cold in the house and we didn't expect to have to have breakfast indoors wearing outdoor jackets

The hospitality at this property was out of this world!
Beautiful historic home with plenty of scenic place to relax.

Very well decorated, very nice staff, good breakfast, clean, comfortable beds
We had top roof room. Palm tree leaves hitting roof need to be trimmed. Scratching roof all night long. No insulation hard to sleep

The breakfast was very good and the staff were polite and attentive.
The room was small and we would have liked our own electric kettle as we had to use the main kitchen at all times for beverages.a

Beautiful, lush, well-maintained property. Breakfast was made to order, served in the beautiful patio with fountain. Would definitely return!
Although everyone was amazing who worked there, when a customer comes in, the receptionist should not be holding on the phone while talking to us. I didn't know if she was speaking to me, or the person on the other line. Once she hung up, all attention was focused on us, and made such a huge difference! Just a little irk that could have been avoided.

Perfect is an understatement. We can’t wait to bring our whole family here. This inn will be our new family tradition. Thank you again.

We liked the location -- walking distance to everyplace, but nice and quiet.
Treetop room was beautiful! Bed very comfortable.
Breakfast was very good and we deeply appreciated the available bottled water and snacks.
No complaints!

The scenery, the house and location.
The rooster that crowed at 4 am - 8 am. Lots of bugs due to the foliage.

Entire staff was excellent, made you feel at home and top level VIP attitudes. Breakfast was great each morning hand made by staff and served in a garden area. The location is around 2 blocks from the Duval Loop bus stops and great value to shuttle around the entire downtown area of attractions. The Hemmingway Home and Key West Butterfly Conservatory were both excellent things to see. Sunset at Mallory Square was great and Gladiators Ice Cream Shoppe was excellent. A few restaurants are not open on Mon-Tues so check before walking there. The Lobster Shack on Front Street was excellent for lunch! Also the Dive Bar Shirt Club on Grinnell St totally cool and great Tecos.
Great trip.

Steps to the top, but that's the room I chose. No fault to them.

End of June 2025 ~ Wonderful weekend in the Keys thanks to the lovely accommodations at the Mermaid & Alligator.
Once inside the gates of the property, we were met by a lush patio oasis with a beautifully appointed and clean room that perfectly captured, in stylish fashion, the look & feel of Key West living.
A small plunge pool with water temp in 86° range was very nice and allowed one to better appreciate the garden, vegetation, and ambiance. Courtesy pool towels are available poolside.
Layout of property minimized contact with other guests and really made one feel you had the property largely to yourself.
Glassware provided for drinks, with complimentary soft drinks, water, and snacks. There is a small ice machine available as well.
Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash included.
No TVs in the room provided a refreshing break from the 24/7 news cycle - and of course, you always have your phone with free wifi included if you can't resist. We had no fridge in the room either, but with the common area fridge stocked with water, soft drinks and the occasional beer, and the communal fridge centrally located; we really didn't need it.
Located right off of Truman Ave, closer to the Southernmost point than Sloppy Joe's Bar & Restaurant, the neighborhood is extremely nice and felt very safe. We combined walking and driving to see the town. It was quite warm during our visit, so we drove a bit more than we originally planned, but with parking readily available everywhere we went, and things being so close, there were no issues.
Speaking of parking: Parking on the property was limited, but free parking on the street is literally located just feet away and was readily available.
A daily breakfast is included, which other guests told us was quite good, but sadly our schedule didn't allow us to enjoy it ourselves.
The hostess & small housekeeping staff were very pleasant and inconspicuous unless needed.

The property is located close to Duval Street, but far enough away to be outwith the hustle and bustle. We had the Caribbean King room and it was beautiful, with a great wrap around balcony. The property is located on the corner of Truman Avenue, which while busy with traffic during the day, is not an issue. The garden area is a bit of a sanctuary and is a lovely spot to have breakfast in the morning. It’s around a 5 minute walk to Duval Street, so very well positioned. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of fresh fruit, coffee and cereal etc. The staff are all excellent and do all they can to make your stay pleasant.

A lot of thought has gone into the property. We loved all the individual features in our room and the communal areas. It was great to have breakfast included. Everything in walking distance.

The hotel is in a historic building which is tastefully restored - great vibe, but also very comfortable. Location is central but quiet. All the staff is very nice and helpful. One of the best stays overall in a while.

Everything, from the moment we walked into the inn, to the time we left, the staff, location, accommodations, snacks, breakfast, everything was so charming and lovely! Easy location to walk to Duval Street.
The price was a little steep, but we didn't realize it was Spring Break. We would absolutely recommend this to our friends and family.

The staff was extremely friendly. We were able to get into our room early on the day of arrival. The location was perfect for our needs and very comfortable.
The ceiling in our Treetop room was a little bit of a challenge but it did not detract from the overall feel of the property.

Grounds filled with well manicured foliage. Manager couldn’t have been more embracing. Outdoor hot tub. Great breakfast.
Slightly away from downtown.

Very nice old Victorian home with plenty of character. great location in centre of town
I didn’t realise it was a share house but rooms were very separate and secure so enjoyed the experience. I arrived at 5:50pm and found door locked and a note saying staff leave at 6. Then saw staff leaving and she just said ‘read the letter for instructions’ and left

The property got a calm, clean and a holistic serenity. It offered a healthy breakfast and other food and drink supplies with mindfulness for the health and wellness.
The carpet on the staircase to treetop room was unclean and perhaps in need of change

Loved the room and the plunge pool. Breakfast was wonderful! Very clean and cool inside which was great a scorching Key West! Very accessible to very thing!
There was nothing we didn’t like except the rooster which isn’t the inn’s responsibility!! LOL

The Mermaid and the Alligator is an adorable, extremely clean facility. The manager and employees were lovely and accomodating.

Unique B&B in the heart of downtown KW. Close to everything!
A bit on the pricey side (>$600) especially for FL residents during the off-season (post-Easter) - also, no military discount offered for active duty personnel or retirees during the NAS KW Airshow weekend.

We like everything there, except for what you’re getting ready to read below
For happy hour they advertise drinks and hors d’oeuvres from 4 to 5. There was no drinks or hors d’oeuvres. They had wine which we love, but they could have had a better brand of wine, other than Sutter home and the hors d’oeuvres were, Doritos corn chips, or a pack of planters peanuts. I believe they call that snacks not hors d’oeuvres. maybe replace those with a charcuterie board. And I think their bicycles should be complementary to their guest instead of costing $20 each to rent.

Good location, nice overall atmosphere of the structure and garden.
The room was cozy and very clean. Really enjoyed the happy hour with wine and snacks
Definitely needs some improvement for the price.
Room on the smaller size, could use a mini fridge.
The pool is nice but always dirty due to trees and plants, could use a net to help clean up (even by guests).

Facility
They confiscate your car keys. Then leave all keys in a bowl in the kitchen. I can only imagine the assumed liability in case of theft or misuse. The worst part is that there was no description of this policy prior to booking.
