We had a great time hitting the trails and this was a cozy quiet place to stay!
Location and views were amazing
The parking was a little tight

Perfectly convenient for visiting Muir Woods when one lives far away.
It was a beautiful and beautifully decorated building and room, lovely view from a nice patio, completely quiet at night with excellent privacy, comfortable bed, perfectly located close enough to Muir Woods that I could hike down to the main trail close to the visitor's center and back up again after my visit. I liked the nice, big bathtub. The comlimentary continental breakfast was a nice touch, but didn't have enough vegan options. Parking was easy with reserved spaces for registered guests. The staff was nice enough. Booking.com had apparently messed up my reservation: I had selected two nights, but on the second day the front desk staff was confused when I returned from my hike and said hello. She asked if I was staying with them again that night, and I said yes, I have the room for two nights. She came down to my room to ask for proof, because the computer said I was checked out that morning. I had just deleted all of my many duplicate emails from Booking.com because I thought I didn't need them anymore. I had to log in to my Booking.com account (which I deleted today, because this first, last, and only experience was so bad) in order to show the reservation in my account, which did in fact show the dates of two nights. Fortunately nobody else had booked the room, so I could stay. The staff member apologized and said she has also had bad experiences with Booking.com for flights. I would suggest the front desk staff should confirm the reservation with the guest upon check-in, saying, "welcome! I see you will be staying with us for (number of nights inserted here)." That way there won't be any confusion if the booking company messed up the reservation. Wifi is provided, but I didn't bother to use it, so I don't have anything more to say about that.
The directions provided got me lost once and almost lost a second time. I tried calling the front desk to ask for help, but there wasn't an answer. I left a message and didn't get a response. I had to figure it out on my own, even though it was the first time I had ever been to that area. The only vegan food options at the bar were fruit salad or hummus with veggies and crackers. I love hummus, I have had all of the different food brands of hummus and many restaurant hummus dishes. It's pretty difficult to mess it up, but this place managed to create the worst hummus ever; terrible texture, terrible taste There's a window in the room between the bathroom bathtub and the bedroom so one can open the shutter and see the view out the patio glass doors from the shower/tub, so I decided to open the shutter on the second night and enjoy the view during my bath. I noticed nose and mouth skin oil stains, like someone had pressed their nose and wide-open mouth against the glass. I have no idea why anyone would do that, but it was gross to see it in a room that was supposed to be cleaned between guests. It made me wonder what else didn't get cleaned after the last guest. When I noticed an accidental overcharge on my credit card statement that didn't match my emailed receipt, I emailed the hotel twice with screenshots because the staff had gone home for the day. Since I couldn't talk to anyone about it, I worried about it so much I had insomnia on my second night. I had to drive to Calaveras Big Trees Park on NO sleep. I even sent a follow-up email from the next lodging where I stayed on my trip, no response. This trip was supposed to be relaxing, and turned out not to be. I finally got home after my stay in Yosemite, looked at my statement, and saw the amount had been fixed; but still NO communication nor explanation.

Feel like we paid way too much.
Beautiful location.
Room was over priced and not well maintained. Paid for a jacuzzi but it didn’t work- brown water, didn’t hold water, spat out globs of hair when turned on. It is also unfortunate that the restaurant is gone because once you are at the location it ruins the mood to have to drive an hour round trip to get dinner.

Beautiful refuge in the clouds
Staff were exceptional especially the night desk clerk. Rooms and view lovely. Comfortable bed. Great location for hiking trails
Breakfast not really upscale for the property level. Bread and packaged bagels and croissants. Yogurt, some cut up fruit and heat yourself quiche. Some fresh bakery level pastries and fruit and cheese varieties with charcuterie would be more in keeping with the price point. Some sound leak from room above but everyone settles down by 9:30-10

Rundown hotel with good views
Great views and location
Nice to have a balcony off the room
Property is rundown and needs some maintenance and refresh work. For example, our bedroom had portions of the ceiling that had been patched/spackled but not painted, the doors to the bathroom needed to repainted or deeply cleaned, the door stop in the bathroom was disintegrating and taped together with a bandaid. I was expecting a much higher attention to these room details for the high price point. The bathrooms similarly had pieces of the wall with patching they hadn't bothered sanding and areas of mildew. The bathroom looks like it's from the early 90s.
The staff were frazzled. At any point, it seemed like there was only one person working who was in charge of check-in, bar, etc.
Noise is pretty loud from the hallway to the room due to the hardwood floors.

Amazing
The staff, the location and view were incredible. Jaclyn went above and beyond for us and we’re grateful.
Not to be hyperbolic, but the pillows in bed may have been the worst I’ve used at a hotel

Great location if you want to hike into Muir Woods

views were amazing. very quaint and relatively comfortable. but rooms- no place for luggage.
the breakfast was lovely. but service on day 2 was very disorganized; young girl in over her head. the view were spectacular. but hot water was out, couldn't find condiments, utensils. all the guest were waiting and waiting.
service was hit or miss. 1 night and morning was decent, the next day was completely i disarray.
very sad because it is quaint and fairly comfortable. Rooms so small no place to place your suitcase! no luggage rack or anywhere to put your bags!

Disappointed in Mountain Home Inn
Loved sitting on the deck enjoying the live music, wine and especially the view. The Staff were very nice and welcoming. The property seemed well kept and clean.
Absolutely not a 5 star Inn. Maybe it once was, but not now. OWNERS need to decide to invest in more staff, and amenities. This stay after 9 nights of bucket list travel thru CA was supposed to be a splurge.
The morning breakfast process was a circus. We were stressed out watching the poor housekeeper's helper(?) running up and down stairs, frantically trying to get breakfast out to all the guests. We assumed the housekeeper was downstairs in the kitchen preparing food, but no other staff in sight except the helper.
Our average quality breakfast arrived late, coffee weak, lukewarm quiche undercooked, melon not ripe.
This was after a night in our 12x15 tiny room, no closet, no TV and small bathroom. We literally could not bring our suitcases down from the car into our room it was so small. Plus, no elevator was offered, only large flight of stairs to get to and from the room. The deck from our room had a good view, but only 2 chairs, no outside table.
I left annoyed because what we paid did not match up with what we received.
Again, staff, when they were there, were nice, but the OWNERS need to take down 5 star rating and adjust the prices or invest in making this a real 5 star accommodation.

Highly recommend
Staff was amazing and friendly. Views were amazing.
The rooms airflow is very minimal in the smaller rooms. So it gets stuffy at night. And No TV in the room. Not a game changer. But when in for the night there's no other options.

Not at all worth the cost.
The views and the convenient location to our destinations in the area.
I’m truly baffled at the positive reviews this Inn has received. The photos used in the Booking.com listing make the property appear cleaner and more well kept than it is and I deeply regret not taking photos of the room during my stay.
Upon entry to the Inn, there are cobwebs and dead flies/hornets/bugs in many areas we passed. The chandelier over the stairs had not been cleaned in some time, since it was covered in cobwebs and dust.
The rooms are located on the lower levels of the property, going down one or two flights of stairs for access, which may be cumbersome for those with a lot and/or heavy luggage.
We stayed in room 10. The keys used to enter the rooms are very finicky. Entering the room you’re immediately met with a closet and a tight left turn to access the room.
The room, while spacious and bright, is very dated and desperately in need of a refresh. The bedding canopy was covered in cobwebs both over and under the canopy, the fabric headboard clearly had not been cleaned in years, if at all, so you can see the remnants of bodily stains from those who stayed there during the years.
The mattress must have been replaced recently as it was fairly comfortable. One of the bedside table lamps did not work, however all of the outlets did work.
The porch area was nice upon first glance, yet there were spiderwebs everywhere. With an accompanying dead plant it makes for a creepy view.
There is a substantial gap in the bottom of the doors leading to the porch which allows for bugs of all kinds to get in. While this inn is in a wooded area, I should not have to spend the majority of my stay killing bugs. To add, there are stains on the walls from prior bug killings. Not really a good look. Walls most definitely need a wash and a fresh coat of paint.

Passable
Breakfast was good. Was hoping to have the restaurant open for dinner but it was closed. Location was difficult to get to due to steep, twisting road.
Restaurant could have been open for dinner

Beautiful Inn with fantastic views
The location was great-brought us close to nature which was the goal of our trip. I got to watch the "sunrise" through the trees and fog from our balcony which is something I will remember for a long time. I was a little nervous that the room would be really tight-#4- but it was perfectly adequate and had enough room for our bags too.
It wasn't a problem but we couldn't find any staff to let know we were leaving, so we just left our room key on the bar on our way out. The room was slightly stuffy without AC-we should have opened the door to the porch and allowed some of the cooler air in.

Beautiful view and great location. Very nice staff and delicious food.
What impressed me most was the beautiful view from the deck outside the hotel restaurant and from the balcony outside our room. The location was great, being across the street from Mt. Tamalpais park. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed eating dinner and breakfast at the hotel. The food was very good.
The hotel and furnishings seemed a little dated.
